Sorry - that's not what happened for me. I already had RadioUnit (updated to the latest version) installed on my iPad with a number of favourites, some of which were custom additions. Earlier today I installed it on my iPhone, where it only showed the 'default' favourites and when I checked on the iPad, only those defaults were present - there was no sign of my original list - no 'merging' had taken place. The syncing works fine - as add the favourites back on one device it's immediately reflected on the other...

Check if there still there under the history tab, the history is not synced.

It's not a big problem for me. As I say, I've found the file that lists the original favourites from a backup and have copied and pasted them back, but I didn't have that many. I only wanted to warn others that there may be problems if they do a fresh install of the app on a 2nd device.

Thanks! As a user, that would be my priority as well ;)

For now Blue Tooth should work (That is what I use the most to stream to my Marshall StanMore).
AirPlay is currently not supported so if/when it works it's by pure luck...

One work around for now is to host it in a host supports Airplay like AUM.

    Cheers!

Ah of course, that works for me, thanks again!

  • Wish it had a built in recorder on standalone

Yes, this! I like listening on my iPhone as I go about daily business and it's not HARD to set up AUM or Loopy Pro and then bring in Radio Unit and then arm a recorder, but.... it isn't something to do spur of the moment.

  • I'm guessing that you can create an AUM session with RU loaded and ready for recording, then save the session and share it with "Copy session URL", then paste this into a Shortcut that you can have in the dock area for instant opening.

  • Didn’t see this in the threads, but has anyone open this app as an AU and find the favorites have been reversed or generally re-sorted unexpectedly? This app has seen some great updates recently, but still missing the ability to sort your favorites. Or am I missing this feature somehow? Thanks.

You can sort the channels, long-tap-n-drag to re-order :sunglasses:

Ah yes. Thanks. Still wondering how the favorites just…inverted.

I do love this app, but there're a couple of feature-requests that I'd like to add. They are to do with additions to current randomisation:

    1) Would it be possible to have a 'Master' randomiser. Unless I'm mistaken, the highest level we can randomise is within a certain genre tag-list. Would really love to be able to randomise any genre, and any station within the all-genre tag-list i.e to be able to go from 80's hits, to Indian Classical, to Dark Techno with a single press. The ability to remove specific genres from the list e.g Talk, Sport, News etc. to randomise music-only would be ideal.

    2) Currently the iPhone version only displays the random 'dice' in Landscape mode, which is pretty inconvenient every time I pull the phone from m y pocket to use it. Not sure if there's a possibility of re-jigging thing slightly?

    3) Lastly, was wondering if it would be possible to include a setting that works with Bluetooth controls (Long-press on increase-volume) to 'roll the dice', at whichever level the menu is currently set to.

All of these changes would make the ultimate listening experience for when out walking. I understand these are perhaps not priorities, and wouldn't expect it to come for free. I'd be happy to pay for a 'Randomiser +' IAP ;) In lieu of that, just to have request number 1 in an update would be a huge bonus.

    What say ye?

    Cheers :)

Does anyone know why Radio Unit stops playing after a few minutes? It happens no matter the configuration: in AUM, drambo and even in standalone when it's the only active app. I'm on ipad pro 2021* with ipadOS 14.

Could it be a specific server? Does it happen on any server?

Edit: Left it running for 90 minutes playing RadioSwissClassic.ch as AUv3 in Audiobus; iPad 6, iPadOS 16.3.

+1 Have a ton of stations in favorites, but sometimes the best samples are very random happy accidents ✌️

Interesting! I didn't think the idea would get any traction at all, especially from those who were mainly using the app to sample from. I'm not holding out much hope, and understandably so. Seems like such a niche use-case. It would be easy enough to randomise everything (Perhaps an incorrect assumption). But the ability to add exemptions would likely take more work than would be worthwhile for just me and you ;)

Just really wanted to replicate my iTunes shuffle experience, albeit with a greatly expanded and unknown palette, for when I'm out walking and for 'intentional' listening.

I think what I'm gonna have to do is just 'favourite' 5 or 6 stations from each genre, and just hope such a list makes it through various updates :)

  • Hi , ive trawled the thread but cant find an answer , can anyone tell me how to delete a station from user slots or do you just right over an existing slot somehow?

It’s just the typical iOS UI convention of swiping left on the station to reveal the delete button. 👍

  • Does anybody can receive opus streams? Not a single one here works for me.

  • Loving the new “control Radio Unit from the Lock Screen” feature!

I don't remember coming across such radio stations - do you have a list of them?

Ooh nice, this also means that I can now stream to HomePods :)

Sucks for me being the fringe use case of never under any circumstances wanting what I am listening to showing up on the lock screen. This was the only app I found that let me do that. Any suggestions for an alternative?

Not great, but one workaround is to use it in AUM or another host

  • Anyone here that run Radio Unit as an AU-plug into Logic Pro for iPad?

    For me it’s impossible… Doesn’t work…

Yes it works fine for me. Do you mean that it won't load? Crashes? Silent?

Crashes using beta version of iPadOS are to be expected :sunglasses:
The dilemma with beta versions of iPadOS is that it's a waste of dev-time to fix bugs for a specific beta versions when it could be an 'Apple Bug' that gets fixed in the next update...

  • I’m not seeing this as a plugin I can open in AUM on my phone. Anyone else have this issue? Works fine on iPad. iOS 17 on iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Try rebooting your device. Also try opening the standalone app at least once if you haven't already.

  • That did it. Thank you! Ought to have rebooted before asking. Good reminder.

  • My wife and I just returned from a 7,000 mile (!) road trip, maybe 120 hours behind the wheel. I love reggae, especially the less commercial kind. Thanks to Radio Unit, I discovered “Alpha Boys School Radio”, a station out of Kingston that played continuously unless we were out of cell tower range.

If you haven’t explored the channels on Radio Unit, you’re in for a treat. I usually start by picking a country and seeing where that leads.
