Thank you @giku_beepstreet
@colonel_mustard Awesome list, very much appreciated!
Is it legal to use sampled radio interviews fodder & music in our own songs ? If we mangle this with FX and mask & disguise what it was originally is that legal to use? I know this is a newish gray legal area of the law but I would love to know. Any lawyers out there? I would happily credit the convos and songs but I don’t know who they are especially in different languages. How do we music makers get around this problem of potential international copyright infringement rights & laws (especially if we want to distribute/publish & publically release our songs? Just want to do this right legally. Thanks all & Merry Christmas everyone! Cheers, ED
He may get a copyright strike on this one !
Thanx Max, what about using convos in other languages unmangled cuz I like how it sounds just as is? Cheers, ED
I think that one of the conventions that has emerged in sampling is that when you become rich and famous enough to matter, you’ll be rich and famous enough for it not to matter; either you’ll be on to your next thing and the payoff will be pocket change, and / or you’ll have made enough cash to pay off the original copyright holder and still have profits...
I certainly wouldn’t take this as writ but it’s something I’ve heard a lot.
Could’ve just built one in drambo!
Been waiting for something like this since I started using Streemur, which is pretty good for random streams but not AU or always so reliable - this is a brilliant Xmas present...thanks @giku_beepstreet ...!
I just fired up radio garden and found this treasure but don’t know how to extract a usable link.

Nice find !

You can use Chrome Developer tools to find the stream if you go to the network tab and then start the stream and look which uses the most data
This works in Radio Unit:

I followed the link to the hosting site and copied the URL for the 'listen (in browser, HTML5)' option...
That website (https://www.liveatc.net/) is a great resource for live air traffic control conversations from all over the world...thanks for leading me to it...!
Wow this is really really cool. I love the flight communication stuff. So cool. Let us know please if you got the right link. And have yourself a nice Christmas man!
In the old thread it was Ström + Turnado
Setting up a looper to continuously capture the last N minutes is probably a good idea, then just save the buffer whenever something good pops up. I guess I’ll go with Enso. Can it be done with flexisampler in Drambo?
Bought in support of the Beep. One fine day I might even use it.

Are there any radio stations with focus on book reading/audiobook streaming?
I’d like to sample some longer fragments of a soothing voice. Bonus point if it is science related. Extra bonus if it is in German, Russian or Japanese.
Instabought, retiring Streemur. YaleD https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/yaled-reverse-delay/id1477503080 is another excellent effect to throw on vocal streams to mangle them beyond the legal/comprehension horizon whilst preserving the cadence of speech, and preventing inadvertent amusement/embarrassment for native speakers when you use their language without knowing what is being said - like drunk tourists getting ‘spiritual’ tattoos in foreign countries which turn out to say ‘dickhead’
And another bump for Radio Garden https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/radio-garden-live/id1339670993 to identify likely sources in the first place (or just use the file player recorder in AUM.) That’s how I got the vocal sample on this track, and YaleD-ed it:
There’s something oddly poignant about finding the only internet-available radio station broadcasting lonely and alone from somewhere in the middle of the Atacama desert, or wherever . Only slightly undercut when you realise the DJ there has assembled a Black Lace mega mix. Guess to them it sounds exotic...
Thanks guys!
btw. I recommend using it in conjunction with Sampler module in Drambo, where you can sample short snippets "directly to keys".
Instabuy and after 10 mins in drambo with gauss i am loving this. Filled a big gap in my setup
May sound dumb but how do I add a radiostation to the user slot?
I’m absolutely loving a short snappy amp env after the ‘business talk’ station.
In the main panel. Click on the title to edit it. Then click on the invisible text box below to add the URL of the radio station.
Remember to hit return after putting in url
I filled all the slots only to find the url blank because I clicked title without hitting return first each time
