I have the entire AmpliTube 5 collection on desktop… do I really need it on iOS? I’d need to buy a replacement for my old apogee jam to make it worthwhile as the Jam is useless without a headphone jack. I do have a zoom u24 but by the time I use that i may as well just use a mac. The jam with a phone effectively makes it untethered.
Hmm. I might just stick with AmpliTube on desktop. I have ToneStack pro anyway.
FOMO is real even when you’re old and dusty.
I am also missing headphone jack in the current iPads. I'm still using iPad with headphone jack, but I wonder what is the quality of headphone jack in various types of adapters. Is it the same or similar quality to native Apple or is it noticeably worse?
Even the diminutive Apple adaptors (both Lightning and USB C) are mini-DACs that work at 48k so the sound quality is comparable.
If you're looking for the best audio quality you'll end up needing to acquire a USB C hub of some sort (with PD pass-thru charging) and an audio interface. This will enable you to utilise far higher sample rates and will have lower latencies.
But if you're only thinking about portability, the mini Apple adaptors are all you'll need.
Nope, not yet. It does comes with a ton of stuff though:

Yes but everything they release in iOS. Not desktop.
They are pretty great. I don’t think they’d worry about price sabotaging. They didn’t need to add them to the desktop group buy so it was a nice surprise when they did. They’ll probably add them if they think iOS is viable. If they do they’ll Probably be for a pretty high price to start with.
Cool. But I think I’ll pass and wait for an auv3 version. I just can’t see myself using it on iOS unless it’s auv3.
I have the full set on Mac so really don’t need them on iOS. Even though it’s such a good deal
When Im just jamming around ham-fistedly with my guitar I never stray too far from an AC30 anyway so the last thing I need is too much choice.
It’s on sale now, $5.49 CAD.
my main issue with iOS amplitube (& i've bought a few IAP in it, and it does sound good, and I use it on desktop/Logic a ton) is:
- takes way too much cpu
- if you have it in AUM at some point it will just stop working unless its always in focus.
Nembrini is the answer. yes it sucks to have to pay $10-20 for a new amp, but their amps are great sounding and are great on CPU.
So this includes everything everything? Even all the bundles? What would qualify for the upgrade price? Apparently a purchased version of Amplitude doesn't.
Sweet
Got it. Thanks VERY much for the clarity.
