Thanks for the heads up, I heard that pack was good. Cheers.
The Torley pack is fantastic as well.
I always slept on the sugarbytes synths, which one would you recommend getting first? Aparillo or factory? Or just both?
I love how special Amarillo is, but I’m concerned I can’t really use it in my EDM style of music.
Personally, both are amazing. For me though, Factory is easier to understand and in some ways better at creating your own presets, but Aparillo is capable of some amazing atmospheric and cinematic effects. Factory can create pretty insane atmospherics too, but also pretty good “standard” sounds, at least much easier. Buy both if you can, but try them out first to give you a better idea. Both also come with brilliant presets.
Thanks. I know I will buy both of them sooner or later (cause I’m a addicted mess and budget is no problem XD), so I guess there is no better opportunity to buy them than in the sale right know.
My recent thought about GR-16 is, how does this exist without Korg's blessing? It is, basically, a software Electribe 2.

Oh nice, those are great.
Anyone uses OB daily? Looks good with 1400 presets
I was hesitating for a long time, but just got it and now I feel like it was the synth I've been looking for.
Just wish there was a way to mark presets as favorite.
I would recommend.

Grab it. It’s one of my favorite iOS synths. I use it in almost every session
Grabbed lily jordan pack and it is a great pack, thanks for advice
Both are amazing in in my top 10 of all time.
Both generate incredible and useful sounds.
Both have presets which tend to be on the wacky side that don't always showcase their breadth, but with a bit of taming and patience, can work some amazing sounds.
Both are capable of creating surprising and musical patches sounds and have ways to generate those fairly easily.
Both have unique and powerful modulation systems capable of anything from subtle movement to complete mayhem.
Both need a deep read of the manual, and watching videos because they don't yield all their secrets to the casual user.
Aparillo tends towards sharper more digital sounds, but with a bit of coaxing can sound warm and analogue too. In its soundscape, Aparillo is fairly similar to Obscurium by Sugar Bytes. It is also capable of amazing moving arpeggiated sounds like nothing else out there.
Factory has an excellent effects rack with some unique and powerful effects such as PianoVerb (a resonant reverb modelled on the vibration of Piano strings). In Factory I've been able to generate everything from lush multi-layered soundscapes, to a patch which generates an entire chiptune composition which can offers several variations with the twist of a knob.
At this price, if you have budget, I'd grab them both, if their sound is useful to you, but if you only have budget for one, Factory is more generally useful I'd say.
Really worth watching Tom Cosm's excellent introductory videos for both synths on Youtube.
@craftycurate thanks for that. Those two have been on my mind, and your description definitely helps.
Sold me on both, thank you
You're welcome. Sometimes on the forum posts will reveal that a user has been put off by the wackiness and not persevered which is a unfortunate as there is such a lot of sonic potential.
Also worth saying that Factory has an excellent set of oscillator types, which are amongst the most creative out there ... from simple waveforms, to Wavetable, and various other sample based oscillator types, and you can upload your own samples too.
The point is, that I’m pretty much set with Classic sounding synths, what I like about those is that they have a special approach. I know I won’t use them as often, but just as a topping or when I need a special sound.

The Groove Rider sale is tempting, but I'm not sure I need it. I'm not really into the synth aspects of the app. I mainly want to use it as a sample mangler in a way similar to an Octatrack. Slice samples to the pads, and reorder and randomize them by start points to get ever evolving samples; P-Locks, Trig Conditions, etc. I already have Drambo, Jamm Pro, and Sector. Would Groove Rider offer something that these apps don't already do to achieve these types of results?
Do I need Italizer?
I bought it, and spent some time with it last night. As kids would put it, this thing slaps, it’s the GOAT, etc. etc. I should’ve got it a long time ago.
The slicing feature is not as quick as it is with Koala; I haven’t tried the time-stretch functions to see how it compares. It also doesn’t have a direct audio input, so for recording on the fly I had fun pairing it with Koala and especially L7 as AU, which is a pretty good setup. Once recorded, those can be imported into GR. I have to see if you can randomize the sample’s start points, perhaps not, but you can record automations for all parameters.
I don’t have Jamm Pro or Sector (will have to check them out), but the all-in-one-screen interface approach is just what I was looking for, especially if I can map it to the minilab, which has almost 1-1 correspondence with knobs and pads. It’s completely performance oriented, which is... totally my jam.
The trig conditions and p-locks are definitely something where it compares well to drambo; they’re very quick to set and very versatile.
@ashh it’s also very favorably compared to the digitakt bc of p-locks and trig conditions (does the electribe have those)? I don’t think the groovebox concept is proprietary of Korg anyway, but I’m happy to learn that, like a digitakt, I don’t need an electribe anymore!
Damn, that sounds pretty good. I might just have to get Groove Rider since its on sale.
Yes, Jamm Pro can be pretty amazing! Great for remixing or creating alternate versions of loops.
Sector is $3.99 on sale right now. Just got it yesterday. It has potential. Seems good for loops that are already synced to a specific tempo. You can really mash up samples with it if you combine several samples into one file, then reorder them with Sector.
@FrontierBadger Thanks, I’ll have a look. Be sure to check out Koala with the Samurai IAP, the possibilities for combining and resampling are endless, and it’s so light. Only drawback is no AU, but it works fine as a slide-over in AUM.
Edit: got Sector, it was on my wishlist and I’d forgotten, so thanks for reminding me. After seeing Jamm Pro, I think you’ll find GR16 a bit vanilla for your taste, but maybe they can work well together.
Definitely going to grab Tape Machine - Doug’s Soundtestroom video on it made me realize this is a must have.
