Unfortunately Logic won’t validate most of that Soundspot bundle. The piano works and is lovely but most of the others don’t. Sorry I’m not at my MacBook and can’t remember which other one works. Anyone else have any experience with these in Logic on an M1?
On another semi related topic, can anyone recommend a similar forum to Audiobus for OSX music production?
Thanks gang!
Soundspot have pretty good customer support - it's worth raising a ticket here: https://www.soundspot.audio/customer-support/
Yep, I did about a week or so ago and haven’t heard anything unfortunately. Do you use these in Logic?
Sorry I must apologise and correct here. It is only Union that will not validate and I contacted SoundSpot 3 or 4 days ago rather than a week. Just checked on my laptop. Does anyone have unison working on an M1?
You can force OSX to validate most plugins. Google it and you should come up with a few things to try. There is a short terminal command you can use. I’m not near my computer at the moment but I’ll post the info later when I get a chance. I have the Soundspot synth Union and it validates just fine.
Don't know if this will help (it's for previous Mac OS versions but should be the same process):
You don’t need to open Recovery at all, you can validate plugins from the desktop. I’ll post the info in a little while after I feed the dogs and have some coffee.
Command to allow plugins
sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /path/to/your.vst
If you've never used Terminal just be careful though I doubt this would mess up much.
Search your computer and find and open Terminal then copy the first part of the command from the word sudo through the word quarantine. Paste into Terminal the bit you just copied then hit the space bar once, you could type out the pathway to your plugins folder but I'm lazy. At this point in another window navigate to your Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plugins folder and drag the Plugins folder into the Terminal window right after the space, this will put the pathway to your plugins into Terminal. Hit the Return key and you will prompted to enter the computer password so do that and hit the Return key again. At this point if you don't get an error you should be good. You won't get any confirmation of this however. The next time you open Logic you shouldn't get any plugin validation errors.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have questions
Thanks so much for this - really appreciate it (also thanks to others who chimed in as well!). I ran the command successfully however I now need to find a way to successfully remove the plugin so I can re-install it. Logic still sees it as failed and when I go to re-validate within Plugin Manager in Logic it fails. If I remove the component from the plugins folder, Logic still thinks it's there. I'm coming from Windows and used to Uninstallers so excuse the OSX naivety
Just some further info - I tried adding a restart into the mix with removal and re-addition of the plugins Union and others that wouldn't validate) separated by a restart but still no go sadly.
My apologies as I think I'm borking the theme of this thread!
Can I ask if you're using Union in Logic on an M1 based system?
No I’m still on Intel so that’s probably why it won’t work on your Mac. I was wondering why you couldn’t get it to work. I’m not totally up to date on the M1 but unless you can get it to work in Rosetta (you can Google all that) you will probably have to wait for Soundspot to update their plugins to work on Apple Silicon. If I was in your boat I’d check first that plugins will work on Apple Silicon before you buy them. I think you said you emailed Soundspot so that’s a very important bit of info to make sure they have, maybe they can tell you when Union will be updated.
Thanks Yowza. Yes didn’t think of compatibility, just saw the wonderful price tag 😁 Still great value with the other plugins. Will report back once I hear from Soundspot. How do you find Union?
