  • Can anyone help me?!

Is it possible to drag/draw the sliders on the pitch page?
(drag and set notes in a row)

I’ve watched some videos and read the manual but no luck, it looked as though you could draw in the velocity values but I’m not sure about the pitch…
    Thanks. :)

    Nope.

    Can't draw velocity either.

  • @iamspoon - you might want to take a look at StepBud. It has a draw mode.

Stepbud has some major issues though with generating unwanted noise when you change sliders. I forget if it only happens with rate sliders or with pitch as well. I spoke to Cem about this, forget the cause exactly but he was unable to fix it. It's a very major flaw imo, if you're into live tweaking, so it is something to be aware of if considering purchasing the app.

  • Thanks gentlemen.

No drawing might not be a dealbreaker with MIDI dreams, I’ve watched Gav’s video and it looks fun.
I just got Kebarp too but that fits a different niche somehow.

I wonder if that's the default "sends portamento" setting (and maybe "sends pitch bend"). I've had problems with that on. It's a bad one to have on by default. Other than that I've never run into the problem you describe.

  • I wonder where one might have seen the ability to drag/draw groups of velocity sliders in MidiDreams. I haven’t seen that kind of UX anywhere in the app. And that’s completely ok with me. One of the things I love about it is how closely its operations emulate a modular sequencer. It remains my most used pattern controller.

  • the name 'midiDREAMs' sounds a bit erotic.

The developer should revisit this/these great apps.. drawing is standard in 2024.. the Scale/Key feature is ‘revolutionary..

No, you cannot draw in values..

I am a big fan of midiDreams, but that’s indeed a missing feature. To add to the suggested alternatives: The sequencer in EG Nodes allows you to draw not only pitch, but other controls as well. And you can configure scales.
You can load Nodes as a MIDI plugin. Its sequencers come pretty close to the classic analog sequencers as well. On top of that you get a useful feature that you find in midiSteps, but not …dreams: You can use different colours for different sequencer nodes.

Sorry, I’m not sure exactly where I saw this but it seems I was mistaken…

    @catherder thanks for the suggestion!

Hi Wim, thanks. Do you mean you can turn off ‘sends portamento and pitchbend’ somewhere? I don’t see any settings. And neither is on by default, from what I can see - those sliders have no value in the default patch. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you’re saying.

Tap the "MIDI" button along the bottom to get to those settings.

Oh wow, bad UI design right there. Thnx Wim

  • Anyone using this as their go to sequencer?

I'm accustomed to quantum actually. But got this recently-ish and was just now trying to get the hang of it driving 4pockets stringlab. Quite fun I should say

  • It's hard for me to imagine having a single go-to sequencer.

  • It looks fun, i was originally looking for something like this. Ended up getting addicted to octrocdone as my main drum sequencer. 😳

For weird synth rumbles somehow I almost always go for the build-in sequencer from Hilda to drive other synths. Pretty old school. For rhythm, Octagron.

Yes. I use it all the time. It’s the closest in feel, for me, to the olds hardware sequencers I learned on, and is how I start most of my work. (Assuming we’re talking about Mididreams, not Stepbud.)

I used to until GlitchStep was released...

  • Just noticed that Chordion is on sale for 2.99, It has a lil arpeggiator and simple drum machine.

Yeah, GlitchStep is special. I love the note grid you get when you click on each step, makes throwing out patterns super quick.
