Can't. At least not yet.
This update is insane.
It pushed me to the limits as a beta tester, trying to find bugs with all the new stuff. I couldn't!!
Important reminder
Be aware that automation is currently only recorded in a black box. This means you can't see it or edit it. But you will hear it. You can overdub it. And you can clear all recorded automation without harming notes via the command on the patterns panel. Oh, and like all other things in Atom2 it works with sample-accurate resolution and precision!
Sorry for the question but does this still multiple instances per clip/track’?
Regarding Atom 2 and selecting which midi channel(s) to edit...
...it will be needed for per note editing of MPE events.
Added bonus will obviously be editing of CC data for all 16 midi channels
If I understand your question...
You can now use Atom2 in several different ways. The most flexible option is still to create multiple instances per track - especially when working with a launchpad controller - but it is also now possible to have multiple channels AND multiple triggerable patterns in a single instance.
Incredible update.
Anyone knows how automation works. I didn’t found any panel to visualize it.
See TK32’s post above. It is recorded but you can’t see it.
Not using a controller. Would like to be able to have a single instance of atom2 and have different midi clips playing on different midi channels (like Helium does it but don’t have Helium). ;-). And ideally a ‘song’ mode so can build up a song from the different clips.
Blueveek forgot to mention this in his notes...
At the same time? No, that’s not how it works. Each pattern could have notes on a different channel, but only one pattern plays at a time.
(A) is now possible. You can have midi notes that play on different channels in a single atom.
(B) is also possible, but will require a separate instance of Atom2 to act as the clip sequencer. See this basic demo template on patchstorage (a more advanced version, that includes pattern switching, is coming soon): https://patchstorage.com/atom2-internal-sequencer-template/
Thanks
(just wanted to add that this 'modular song mode' has been available and a key feature since the first release of Atom 2)
@blueveek
Not sure if it’s BeatHawk issue or A2 (lately had too many issues with BH)
When same notes recorded across various channels in mpe mode I’m experiencing stuck notes - can replicate.
I’m trying to seq multiple parts of BH from single A2 instance (in Drambo). Is this ‘unsupported’ use case in context of mpe?
How do you bring up the automation lanes with the new update?
Thanks all
I don’t think there are any yet. It just records and plays back the automation you record. And allows you to delete just the automation and re-record it if necessary.
There are none, this is what ‘black box’ means.
Only recording, no editing... nothing to bring up just yet
Ok I’ve heard of black boxes in planes but not in music apps 😬
Probably need to see a video on how this works.
That would be a dull video. Not much to see.
Hit record. Play in some automation from a controller or app. Stop record. Press play. The automation you recorded plays back. If you don't like what you recorded, overdub some new automation, or clear it from the pattern menu.
Hi, is there a midi bus option or just it’s midi multi out ? A DAW is soon to be release and I can’t see the midi out of Atom but it uses midi bus instead like the one in Helium.
If you're referring to output ports in the AUv3 spec, Atom is intentionally avoiding them, and will intentionally continue to do so for the foreseeable future. If at least a few other hosts would decide support it, and if it had what I consider to be less of an atrocious user experience, I might change my mind. However, there's just too many limitations around it today in terms of UX.
Hi thanks for the reply.please consider implementing it. The DAW in question is one of the most used on iOS .fingers crossed it should be few days away
Are we talking Cubasis 3.3 here?
If that's the case I it would be way smarter to convince them to license Atom 2 and replace the built-in one which is starting to look like a dated bad joke...
Not Cubasis 3.3
A midi-editor is such a central piece of any DAW so it should be well implemented
The same applies to all other DAWs as well... (BM3, NS2, AEM, AuriaPro, Gadget, GarageBand etc. etc.)
Cubasis 4 ?
Thanks.
Example of mpe recorded in atom. I am insanely happy this is finally here. Huge huge thanks and kudos to @blueveek
