Folks, can I please ask that those of you who like what we've done here, would please consider leaving a review on the App Store? Every bit of support helps!

    Very best to all, Pete

Sure! Just dawned on my that it's a new app so my previous review is no longer visible.

App Store is borked right now and not accepting reviews. Will try again later.

  • Oh my Lord I have to pay attention to this app now!? I was happier when it was just a complicated sandbox with its gnomic acolytes and its arcane update schedule and confusing payment model.
    :)

So what does it sound like again?

  • @ExAsperis99 it sounds like whatever you want it to now. Im using it for the midi generation and feeding it to my other auv3 synths. The built in sounds are stellar as well.

I mainly use it for "ambient" drones, brian eno plucks and noodlings etc

Sure - 3 failed attempts now but will get there!

  • It’s great to have it Auv3!

    Thanks for update.

How do I set the scale / modes? Any indication for it?

You can set the Root and Scale Rules for the Mix using information here:

    Mix Scale Rule:

    Hoping that helps!

    Thank you Pete.
I noticed that preset saving in Aum doesn’t work.
Or am I doing anything wrong

Wotja doesn't use presets. Rather, save the mixes you want to Wotja documents. Hoping that clarifies things!

That way, you can share what you do with the standalone version of Wotja (and also between your mac and iOS devices, via iCloud).

    Best wishes,

    Pete

Ok. Would be still handy to use the Aum presets for changing mixes.
Like on many Auv3 it’s flexible to either save in Aum or in the plug-in. The latter allows the use in stand alone.
Would be nice to add a scale indication on the mixes to know which scale I could instantly jam on.

  • In addition I think I had a bug. I changed “mixes” but it didn’t do anything it kept on playing the previous preset

  • @impete This is fantastic news! I haven’t got on with Wotja since my Noatikl days. Loved the AU Noatikl with Logic and now getting even more out of Wotja in AUM on iOS. I’ll definitely be kicking the tires more and will get a review in shortly.

Thanks for this! I’m going to need it. I finally bought (this years version) of Wotja Pro after constantly hearing good things about it. So now I have it... and I really have no idea what I’m supposed to do with it. I mean, I loaded the AU into an audio slot in AUM and had it making sound (pretty sounds too!) but I guess I need to crack open the manual and try to figure out why it’s making these pretty sounds, and _how _ to program it to make pretty sounds of my own.

Great to have you on board! We're just working to finalise an update that should make it a bit easier to "get to grips" with using the Intermorphic Music Engine (IME) in Wotja. I hope you'll like it!

I was having a go with it last night and heard some really beautiful things! Was kinda sad though as I’d hear these things, but then they were gone in an instant, and I couldn’t figure out how to get it back.

Looking forward to learning how to use this, and looking forward to the “Get to grips” update!

I remember years ago, Tim and I were in Brian Eno's studio, where he had Koan Pro playing (on a Windows machine we'd loaned him, but that is a whole other story!)

At some point he hushed us said something along the lines of "wow, did you just hear that?!" (paraphrasing) - a really beautiful bit of Koan's music had just played, something he mentioned only came very rarely (once a day?) due to the way he'd set up his piece, and he had been anticipating it. Lovely moment.

    Best wishes,

    Pete

  • I think the ephermal nature of a lot of what Wotja can compose, really is part of the pleasure.

You can listen passively, or actively, and music moments will come and go that you might love, but might never hear again.

That is something you can also experience with all other sorts of live music, of course.

    Best wishes,

    Pete

Hmm, I don’t know if I like that.

I want to be able to pop the hood and see what is making the sounds and be able to modify and/or change things to my liking.

I don’t know if there’s a monkey behind a curtain somewhere, feeding notes into a sequencer, But I want to be able to see this monkey. Maybe offer him a banana?

  • Oh, you can set-up your music like that if you want, using fixed patterns etc., and focus on sound design for example. It is really very much up to you!

There are infinite monkeys bashing away on keyboards. They will eat all the bananas in this world and the multiverse. But if you tap on a Generator object, the curtain will be whisked away and you can program each of the monkeys to do your infinite bidding. And the actual sound engine is actually very normal and intuitive, with only a few auto-randomisation features beyond the LFO-centric toolset we've all grown up on.

Ah, nice, I had a feeling if I dug deep enough, I’d find some synthesizer panels in there somewhere.

I’m going to have to set aside a day for this...

I don't supposed you've noticed that the LFOs can be synced to various multiples of the Tempo (BPM) ...?

There is all sorts in there if you dig around for it

  • The mixesi saved previously were gone. I wonder where to?

  • @Tamir_Raz_Mataz said:

    A couple of possibilities:
    1. Because of iOS sandboxing, the AUv3 and standalone versions each saves to its own directory. You can use copy & paste to move files between them.
    2. If you selected iCloud for your file storage, you won't see files stored locally, and vice-versa. (This is normally a one-time setup, though, so you're unlikely to have changed it between saving a file and then trying to find it again.)
