@sonosaurus: thank you again.
let me know when this is out
where to donate some coins.
( I like ChowDSP idea with tip jar inside the free app )
It can do both.
+1 to that tip jar
Sorry, I don’t have tried the plug-in yet (still waiting for the TestFlight link 😉)…
Does it allow MIDI IN to play some long evolving chords ? Thanks
just to clear what is and what is not this plug I will paste from Xenakios blog:
"PaulXStretch – Plugin for extreme time stretching and other spectral processing of audio
This plugin is based on the PaulStretch algorithm. (Paul’s Extreme Time Stretch, originally developed by Nasca Octavian Paul.)
The plugin is only suitable for radical transformation of sounds. It is not suitable at all for subtle time or pitch corrections and such. Ambient music and sound design are probably the most suitable use cases.
The plugin can either load an existing audio file from disk to process or it can capture audio from the plugin inputs. (The capture mode is started/stopped with the “Capture” parameter.)
The plugin will require the DAW audio engine to be running on the track it is inserted on. How that is achieved in various hosts is specific to those hosts. Some hosts will just immediately start running the plugin, in other hosts one may need to record/input monitor enable the track or something else needs to be done.
The plugin has lots of latency, that isn’t reported to the host as it likely can’t be properly compensated for, anyway.
Host automation does work, but in a laggy fashion and likely not completely deterministically. (Different play runs may produce different results.) This unfortunately can’t be helped much. The algorithm can only change the processing parameters between fully processed FFT blocks."
I don't plan on putting any IAP tip jar in there, but here is a PayPal donation link if you feel so inclined!

This is so cool on iOS and more playable like an instrument. Really wouldn’t expect less given your previous ios work. Thanks for making it!
Nice. This is a really great initiative. Thank you
OK, there is a new update out of the the iOS one with some fixes and tweaks, and the Mac/Win versions have been updated too... same link as before, but here they are again:

Free! That’s very kind of you @sonosaurus
How can we tip you at least for the work you’ve done porting?
Also, if you implemented new features - could you then charge a little for the new work? I have some ideas I’d love to see in the iOS version
Look back a few messages if you really want to
Any new feature ideas I’d be happy to hear, any new stuff gets into the desktop versions too….
Are you planning the ability to save and recall different set-ups?
Good point, this thing was basically just a plugin and I revived the standalone version, so presets are still missing there.
😎👍🏼
@sonosaurus done! $15 donated
Ref the feature ideas, here’s my contribution and I’d gladly donate again or buy these as IAP features.
Would any of these be achievable, even just the pinch and zoom and instant playback when selecting a new area would be really great to have.
Thank you again mate,
There's definitely a lot of potential here. The thought of turning into a slicer definitely crossed my mind, but....I wouldn't be inspired to spend that much time on it. I would start with presets, then move onto exposing AU parameters, then maybe redo the whole "free filter" tab, starting with the ability to delete nodes.
But if you (Sonosaurus) decide to re-use the code to build a slicer, I wouldn't mind. Every slice could have its own set of parameters, with multi-out for each slice. I like your ideas, @Thelast27, but I also like the Drumjam AU. When @sonosaurus asked for suggestions regarding that one, my suggestion was to build a an MPC app, with most of the features of AudioLayer, and the sample library of Drumjam. But I should probably just design that as an original app, and then see if anyone wants to build it.
A slicer sounds like quite a full on extension to this, but maybe it’s simpler than I expect, the thing I thought quite useful would just be a way of switching where the play head currently is, just a CC control maybe?
Great job on this one and quite enjoyable version, it's great to play on the iPad! As screen estate can be scare,I would suggest a way to hide the waveform or alternatively display a single mono version of it.
… scope creep alert!
The AU parameters should already be exposed. Deleting nodes is one of those things possible on the desktop version with a key-modifier... but needs to be made doable on touchscreens.
Yes, DrumJam AU is the next and higher priority.
As of the last version you can tap on the top half of the waveform to set the playhead. A CC for that might be interesting.
Oh nice, I’ll check that out in a bit 👍
Thanks!
Yeah, as this came from desktop land that wasn’t there. You can actually drag on the ends of the bar at the bottom of the waveform to zoom in/out… it’s not so obvious. A pinch or vertical drag gesture to do this might be nice.
Interesting ideas all, but probably a little too involved to get into right now.
The algorithm is all quite intentionally “slow” to get to changes, mostly based on the FFT sizes used, as well as the Pre-buffering setting. So truly “instant” is not something appropriate for this beast… you’ll want everything to be smooth anyway. I’ll look into it more to see if there are any other non-algorithmic things that are delaying responses beyond that.
Wow, I’d just started looking for a PaulStretch equivalent for iPad and ten minutes later I’ve just rendered out a few hours of audio via the TestFlight PaulXStretch app invite courtesy of @sonosaurus. All while sat out in the garden with a rum n coke. Amazing stuff, thank you
Since it will be free, please include a “Tip” feature in the app for any who want to support your efforts financially. Jatin Chowdhury does this rather successfully in his well-regarded free ChowDSP apps.
the features set of latest build are enough for v1.0 I'd say.
its a fabulous start already...
The dev addressed this upthread. There won't be a tip jar. He has shared a link you can use to make a donation.
OK, the latest update is available with the following changes, both on iOS TestFlight and the Mac/Win versions linked below (same links, re-download).
