@Michael_R_Grant found it. http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/437/the-noodlers-club-unproductive-audiobus-musicians-unite/p1 It wasnt a direct quote but that is pretty much what you said I think.. Still though sorry man.

@PaulB Thanks man! I am definitely opinionated and sometimes too honest. @rhism knows all about that :-)

  • So, is a conductor a musician?

  • probably has more musical knowledge than the entire orchestra combined. You don't get to be a conducter just by practicing how to bow.

  • I hate to see this disintegrate before it even starts. I can appreciate differing opinions, but I say, for those who are interested ( myself included), let's focus on how, rather than worrying about whether everyone on the bus is going to participate. If we make it work, it's that much more likely to increase interest. I also think that if we do this for our own satisfaction, it will stand more of a chance of having positive effects beyond our intentions, than if we're striving to shoot for the positive effects out the gate. @boone51 set things in motion (thanks for your efforts there man!), so let's see if we can prove @Ryan wrong, and even if we do, I'd hope he'll consider joining (and I'd welcome him), since he seems both knowledgeable and talented.

  • @uglykidmoe I am sorry I insulted you man. Really, I'm sorry. I thought I made it clear that I fully admit that my thoughts on DJ's are ignorant and I know it's stupid to judge something I don't understand.. You can't take it too serious. I want to understand but no one has been able to convince me that being a DJ takes musical skill or even tried to convince me for that matter.. Every now and then I like to publically admit such things in hopes I'll get educated on it... such as "If you don't think DJ's do anything, look at this!" but it never happens... DJ is also a very broad term.. like I understand what a rap DJ does and I understand what a DJ at, say, a strip club does.. But yeah, the DJ i think we are both talking about, I don't have a clue. Like I said, I was really hoping Jon Moore would clear this all up for me but he didn't/wouldn't.

Now what @PaulB just said made me think.. and I guess timing is a big part of music.. in that regards i guess anyone that conducts music is a musician, DJ's included. Thanks Paul for putting that in a perspective i could understand.

  • @funjunkie Can't have a band without a band fight :)

It used to be all about the music, man!

  • @Rhism lol I don't think the bands shoes are complicated enough, we need more buckles! (stomp stomp stomp SLAM!) ;-)

  • @Rhism - I'm such a noob on the band scene, that I've yet to experience that side of it, and I probably should settle down into spectator mode, but I really would love to see all the ios scene catch on. I think we're at the brink of what's been coined as "everyone can be a musician", and I hope no one is intimidated by that. There will always be those who stand out.....and I doubt that it will be me, but I love music and want to be part of it somehow.

  • Just to throw this out if you're not aware, there's a site called Kompoz for online music collaboration that might lend to this effort. There are also other music collaboration sites that might be worth exploring beyond Kompoz. Don't mean to step on your toes @boone51, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

    To @Ryan:

I got ahead of myself. I was already wound up from the day, so I'm very sorry.

Please see my formal apology here:
    I mean here

P.S. The ending fell apart, but it wouldn't be a genuine apology if it were staged, so I just went with it. I also started goofing off after giving up on ending the song properly.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

  • Lol. Only on the bus. That was cool.

  • Men apologizing on the Internet. Fuck. Yes. There is hope for my daughter.

  • This community breaks new ground every day

  • @uglykidmoe That was one of the greatest things EVER! :-) Thank you. We are all good man, even without the video.. dam that was awesome. I think I might know every ween song and really like that cover, good job! You are very good at keys, holy crap! :-)

@syrupcore as long as she likes audiobus apparently. lol

  • Whew! I'm so relieved all is well ;) I was about to alert Sebastian to submit a mind-blowing update to the App Store or anything just so we all go back too happily gushing praise on his forum. ... Which, at the right time, no doubt he inevitably will ...and we inevitably will.

Personally, I'm looking forward to hearing the collab' results. Tell me what key and bpm and I'll gladly add some guitarism riffs, but I can't commit to anything more at this point.

The wheels on the bus go round and round... :)

(Does anyone own the rights to that one?)

  • Yes, my mom does, she use to sing it to me....in fact, I'm pretty sure she created soooooo yea

  • @JMSexton She stole it from my mom.

  • So awesome!

  • Does anyone know ZZ top song..
    'Waiting for the bus'??
    Or something bus related??

  • Or
    The who..
    Majic bus..

  • I think @Ryan was just worried he would lose out on playing Bebot if you all decided to cover this......

  • Hey, I just read the thread and must say: so much Enthusiasm, it's refreshing!
I am very much interested in participating, wrote to Boone.
-And: wouldn't it be possible, for each participant to just produce some kind of lingering-on, lingering off from the musical/rhythmical phrases of the previous musician (concerning more the kind of original-music-creating-possiblity, not as much maybe the cover-thingie... .?
...I'll try to think some more and find better words maybe, or: anybody get, what I'm trying to say...?
    Greetings anyway, good times,
    animal

  • we are discussing options on the Google group now. I have a feeling that there will end up being 4 or 5 original songs being constructed, all using different workflows and different styles/genres.

My suggestion for the first go-around was to upload a loop to use as a foundation, and have everyone develop their own 4-, 8-, or 16-bar loops in the same key and tempo, then have a few people try their hands at arranging the loops in different ways. This in itself could end up in multiple final versions to be released, but that will be decided most likely by democratic vote.

But I can imagine a million different ways to work through this... Mine was just a way to allow everyone to work together, regardless of what software they are using.

Love that idea! As many people as want to can upload loops then it's a remix/construction exercise. Telephones need not apply and the output will likely be more varied and interesting.

That's a good idea too. Um can someone PM the info for the group please

  • I too would be interested in that info as well.
