    @Poppadocrock asked:
just curious is that a rubber tipped percussion mallet?

    https://forum.audiob.us/uploads/editor/q6/kmbptb70sbe2.png

They are most often used by a percussionist on the marimba where the hardness must
be less than a piece of mahogany wood to avoid changing the instrument.

Xylophones use a very hard wood and plastic mallets are allowed and preferred to get that
    "skeleton's rib's" tone.

The vibraphone has metal bars but the standard mallets are yarn wound mallets to provide a softer attack.

@hypnopad tipped me off to some drumsticks with rubber tips for reducing the noise of pad hits or to silence drum pad work-out sessions late at night.
Since the rubber provides the bounce you can also practice on a convenient
flat surface and it will feel like striking a drum head.

    https://forum.audiob.us/uploads/editor/nu/b7xq171vu4wa.png

But they are also great for tapping pans, glass goblets and other household objects you don't want to damage.

Thank you for this. Yea i saw many types in my research, for xylophone, for tongue drum, marimba, etc… they even sell just the rubber tips to add to a pair of sticks. I wanted something versatile, that can hit a harder objects, like a bongo, or a wall, but also be able to delicately hit something more sensitive, as you mentioned. I think @hypnopad has now tipped us both off to those Vic firths. Lol. Thanks @McD

lewl! sometimes in in the mood for scribbling down atonal music on staff paper. why so quick to judge?

  • Holy cow michael this is fantastic mate i’ve been using loopy from the beginning this is everything i’d have wanted it to do and a shit load more, i use loopy in 80% of my tunes this is just going to break the mould i’m so glad i just got a new ipad pro, thank you for this i know you’ve put a lot into it i’d love to be a beta tester if you need anyone else, if not just let me make some music my friend. Thank you for all your hard work it is very much appreciated.

  • Got around to watching the intro video. Wow, this looks immense. Can't wait.

  • I've stopped saying nicely that I'm happy to pay to give back to the administrator of this forum. I pay because I genuinely want this awesome app, and I have no motive other than desire.

  • Holy sheepShite Michael, amazing job!

I was actually kindof hoping your MasterpieceApp wouldn't be so good, so that I wouldn't have to change my current setup, which took years to piece together. But looks like I'm going to have to adapt!

Some potentially revolutionary features in there. One in particular I'm excited about- the automated sequence function... I was wondering- is it was possible to pause the sequence... while still keeping the looper running? Which would be great for mixing composed and improvised sections in songs.

  • Great work, I am very hyped for this

  • @Michael

    A question for now.
Is Loopy Pro IAA, auv3 + IAA or a new way of moulding audio
on iOS entirely especially as IAA code is slowly being deprecated?

    edited October 2021

I shouldn't butt in to a direct question - but it's a standalone app that can host AUv3, as well as an AUv3 app for use in other hosts. Like all AUv3 apps, that version can't host other AUv3s. No IAA.

    Same as Drambo is today.

Thank you very much for answering.

The audio recording capabilities of Loopy Pro sound off the hook.

It’s perfect for my two ipad rig.
When I started this particular journey I needed one ipad as
a multi-timbral romper/sampler sound thing and the other ipad
as the DAW and it’s almost complete for my purposes now.
A rather well known DAW isn’t cutting it right now which is a pity.
Loopy Pro sounds and looks like it’s going to fill the gap quite nicely.

Most of my Drambo projects can be hosted in Loopy Pro.

    So question answered.

    Brilliant. ;)

it would be great if it was a free update loopy hd!!! but I guess not. Very sad!!!!!! ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

I think Michael is quite right to charge for this, and I am happy to pay. He has clearly put loads of work into it! And around $50 for software like this? Might seem expensive for iOS apps but compared to any other DAW (let's call it what it is) it's not very much...

Using loops are cheating, means you still at DUPLO daw level. And it just always sounds like crap, because the rest of your programming skills are not up to par either. So you hear vengeance or loopmasters nasty loops and then some youtube riser fx tutorials on top.
A sylenth presetpack lead and some singomasters midi patterns and you call that your new EDM track
But it always shows, because anyone will find nothing original or authentic in these kind of tracks. My 10 old brother does "EDM" too. He can't play a single note, but is pretty good at doing his "research" combining the several building blocks and tuts he finds online.

    A. Username checks out.

    B. @Michael not sure if you’ve noticed this troll but their posts lead me to believe they’re not a genuine member. Kinda reminds me of that dude that kept getting banned on different accounts in late 2019/early 2020.

Not sad: totally reasonable! Loopy Pro is an enormously more powerful and complex app than Loopy HD. Developers deserve to get paid for their work.

Nice… How about Key detect/transpose (Scale too, if Possible)... Like Blocs Wave and Launchpad... How about transposing the key of the whole project in Loopy... Like Launchpad..?

Detect, no, not yet; transpose, absolutely. Yeah you can make a widget (or midi binding) to transpose the whole project if you like.

Yep: you can add loop regions to the sequencer’s timeline; you tap the play/pause button to exit the loop region (or use a widget/midi binding).

  • Wow, this well thought out. Incredible work.

  • This does look extraordinary.

Assuming that I can get it working with my rather peculiar MIDI foot unit it will be 100% what I need.

If I can’t, I’ll just have to get a new foot unit!

  • Looks amazing. Are there any widgets that will allow sample scrubing. Will we be able to reverse or slow down samples in real time. Really looking for this excellent work.

Sorry just watched the video again. See scratcher and granular is a future feature. Awesome.

    Yep

  • Side note: @Michael you really do a great job of communication and voice in your videos. Do you do any professional voice-over work?

I have a number of apps I’ve never gotten around to learning. I’ve come to realize that the more complexity and menu diving, the less likely I learn it. That creates a sticky price point for me. Michael should get as much as he can; I’m just throwing this personal self-observation out there.

And this is both the draw and the bane of iOS at the same time.

We're drawn to the inexpensive apps so there's almost no thought about whether you need them, and most, we certainly don't need. I love having access to such an extensive library of instruments and tools, and I use a lot of them - but only a few on a regular basis.

But when an app comes along that shows iOS to be able to compete with the depth of Mac/PC based applications, I think we need to put those apps into a different category. I certainly don't want iOS to only be a place where simplified apps with minimal UI reside - it should support both.

Looking at Loopy Pro, I'm seeing a tool that can address multitudes of simple AND complex uses. If I'm not mistaken, it's not a tool you have to get into all the details to make usable. Any tool that can be customized in such a unique way for each user's personal preferences is huge.

Most iOS apps are designed to be one trick ponies. I think Loopy Pro asking us how we need it to work for us.

Looks like the issue was taken care of yet again.

  • In the video you said there will be LED feedback.
So would it be possible for the rgb pads on a launch key mini to change colors for like record, overdub, play..etc.
Sorry this might be a bit of a noob question but I’m very interested in getting and mk3 launchkey and that paired with loopy would be amazing.

The looper looks great and I’m looking forward to getting it as soon as it comes out!
