@Michael how does one register interest for the beta team?

No need; I'll be progressively opening up beta over the next days, and will announce it in the usual places, including here.

It looks pretty much finished in the video. I wonder if the release will be the beta?

I’m not very familiar with live looping, but with the depth of widgets and actions, is it possible to have Loopy configured in a kind of generative / algorithmic / deterministic way? Either in the manner that it triggers and records loops, or in defining loopoints / direction / follow actions / one shot, etc.
I would love some control over feeding say 4 sound sources into loopy, and then in a generative or deterministic patch, having the sources sampled to various cells (“randomly”) and triggered similarly.

    Hope that makes sense…

Hmmmm...it's not designed for generative stuff, so it wouldn't be incredibly straightforward. I dunno, maybe you could set up follow actions on tracks to do stuff, chain together things in interesting ways. I guess we'll find out.

I was wondering about this as well, but more in the line of capturing a loop (possibly using the retro-record feature), using the transient detector to slice it, and then triggering the slices with Rozeta Particles or a similar random-note-trigger plugin.

    That you could definitely do.

  • Pro video for a pro product @Michael - very nice work! 👊

Nope, plenty of bugs to find and fix. I estimate I'll need a month, month and a half to get it polished enough for a release. I'm fixing the bugs I know about now, and then I'll open up beta to find more.

Will keep my eyes peeled, good looking work by the way love the format. First half had me interested but you really knew when to say ‘and this is where it really gets deep’. Great stuff, excited to see it

@NeuM beta tends to be an ongoing thing to iron out bugs for updates etc. Would like to be a part of that. I do for Drambo and I’ve really enjoyed it. It was mentioned earlier in the thread so thought I’d ask 🙂

Maybe use Scatterbrain on the inputs and/or outputs (does Loopy have separate outputs?).

If Loopy Pro hosts AuV3s, then theoretically you could load a custom Mozaic script to trigger functions via MIDI, right? That might go some way towards achieving that behavior.

    Yep

    Yeah, that would work

  • Wow. Just wow. Kudos and a humble bow to you.

Thanks for that. To clarify further:

    • can it be used as a live effect, taking input routed within AUM

    Yep

    • can recording happen on a timed overdub e.g. 4 bar loop, or does it have to be manually triggered?

    However you like

Thanks for your responses - it does look amazing!

Thanks for the confirmation, and @celtic_elk for the ideas :)

Part of the fun with apps and instruments is in finding ways to make them do things they weren’t designed for ;)

  • Looks mighty impressive!

Now THIS is a job for the GREAT GAVINSKI!!!

  • @Michael : Just when I was considering jettisoning ios for laptop along comes THIS. Seriously reconsidering now .
    @MobileMusic : Vortex , thoughts?

  • Holy moley!

  • I reckon the 6 tempermental Enso’s I use in my live set will be put out to grass when Loop Pro becomes the master.

Do Enso’s eat a lot of grass? If so I can replace my lawn mower too!

Keep in mind, in the video he mentioned this will be for iOS and macOS.

I think Gavinski is in the middle of taking some time out. Best wishes to you if you are reading this 😃

  • Can you import loops?
Does it have a Sample editor like BM3 that can chop and warp...would be nice
Looks cool though good Job Micheal

  • 2021’s biggest iOS audio app release.

    Needless to say I’m in.

Thanks, that is true, who knows, I might come out of the woodwork to make a walkthrough on this, because I can see this being something I would want to learn back to front, but at the moment I'm really enjoying making my #shorts and spending less time reading manuals, doing walkthroughs etc 👍

The internet could really benefit from a sarcasm emoji or something. Clearly some people really struggle with irony. Every comments section ever has this kind of exchange.

Using /s is a pretty widely-understood marker for a comment that should be read sarcastically.

Using brain came before /s I do believe.

I would be happy to pay 50 bucks for it! This is a daw, you can charge daw prices imho

Yeah, I suggest Michael to charge us 50-80 bucks - his generosity to host us here on his adfree site is amazing!

  • Just watches the video... Wow. This is NOT just a looper. It's a Loop Composer and a new take on an IOS DAW. Can you imagine the creative process that this went through to get here?

    A composable interface?

    Programmable Widgets?

Loop groups taken into new territory?

I can only imagine @Micheal getting an idea and having to live with the creator's only
input: "They are going to love this."

Definitely, worth the wait to see such a unique take starting from the idea of a software Looper and ending up as potentially a new conception of a DAW for IOS.

  • Great to see this nearing release finally, look forward to the beta :)
