  • Zoa is great!

@rygrob The audiosymmetric.com web site won't open. I get "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found." I'd like to look at the manual, but can't get in. Wait... it just opened. Temporary problem...

  • Is the 1.1 update available yet? There's a youtoob vid for it, but it hasn't appeared on appstore yet (?) @rygrob

It's likely trapped in Apple's "holiday" backup for approval.

Yes, it's available. I got the 1.1 update yesterday

  • @rygrob Really like Zoa - its a very clever sequencer even if you don't use the generative features which are the icing on the cake.

Ryan I know you are already pestered with feature requests but I'll toss out my idea for you to think about anyway. If there were four individual grids with separate controls for each it would make for some really interesting musical possibilities. This would allow for example a mix of generative and "fixed" sequencers. By fixed I mean when you turn off auto advance a channel behaves more or less as conventional step sequencer - just enable the notes you want. One use case is having a fixed bass or melody line for the other generative channels to "jam" over. The current UI would work virtually unchanged. If backwards compatibility is an issue you could have a "sync" mode so all four grids share the same settings and pattern.

It could add a whole new dimension to your very cool sequencer.

Another feature request: midi control of the golden ratio. If you could modify the ratio just a little bit with a random lfo, it could function as a humanizing effect for these golden ratio grooves.

Couldn’t you also just use 4 separate instances of ZOA for the same result?

You could run the midi output through the Drambo humaniser or a Mozaic script?

You could, but I want to hear what wiggling the ratio sounds like. I’m guessing it would sound different than pure randomization.

Especially if there was a way to have a golden ratio lfo rate…

  • Anyone having issues with presets on iPhone? When I click the presets button I get the error message "There's been an error locating presets on your device". Haven't tried on the iPad yet. Oh this is in standalone mode, I dont see the option in NS2 as an AuV3.

Will need to use AUM on iphone mate.

You can add it as an external midi device within a channel in NS2 but don't fancy the outcome

  • Preset system with response on Program Change pls. And /or CC for parameters, thank you.

Thanks @Tyronn. Bummer. Have AUM but don't use it. iPad has same issue. Weird that presets don't work in standalone, nor even show as an option in auv3. By the way it does kind of work in NS2 (unexpectedly) although doesn't seem to export the audio properly. Worked perfectly in Cubasis 3 and the mixdown exported without issue. Interested to try it on the desktop now,

  • Can anyone explain what offset does in Zoa?

It changes the pitch of notes from this playhead. So for a flute you might use +12 (octave up), or -12 for a bass.

    Gotcha. Thanks @uncledave

  • Looks like ZOA getting a playmate a new sequencer called OODA. Let’s hope it iOS.

  • Zoa Update in process with apple will add steps and CC abilities.

Big update just dropped well worth getting this unique sequencer. Also your in for a treat with OODA once it comes out as it’s so next generation.

Thank you, looks super cool! However, resizing the AU window in AUM (at least) results in borders on top and bottom and the UI gets cropped. I don’t remember there was this bug before.

As I expand the window, the grid expands and sidebars narrow. This stops when the grid (and sidebars) reach the sizes they have in stand-alone. Further expansion does not make the sidebars longer. In my memory, it was always like this; I've always had to scroll the sidebars to reach the lower entries. I remember this because, if you touch the wrong item, you can change a setting when trying to scroll.

  • @rygrob I'm still hoping to see AUv3 parameter inputs for Respawn and Advance Actions so they can be triggered externally.

  • Great update! @rygrob while speaking of AUv3 parameters, if it would be possible to expose the new Mod Outs: Smooth parameters (and maybe also Range) ... would be nice to let some LFO control these externally. Anyway, great to see the CC smooth slider as it is now, too.

  • This is an awesome update! Definitely adds some great improvements like the step parameters.

  • edited April 2022

This update is the business, y'all! The step parameters take this to a whole nuther level.

Thank you! So if it isn't new then it's fine 😊 I never noticed this problem before which means I've never really resized the window to odd proportions previously 😅
Step options is really really useful, I always wanted some probability!

    @rygrob
Any chance you could colour code the playheads? 4 identical highlights on the life grid is a bit confusing…

  • Fantastic sequencer! It’s really fun to use and easy to get good results.

@rygrob Would love the option to use the new modulation sources as velocity modifiers within the app. Is that something you’d consider implementing?
