Fantastic sequencer! It’s really fun to use and easy to get good results.

@rygrob Would love the option to use the new modulation sources as velocity modifiers within the app. Is that something you’d consider implementing?

You could route the modulators through a StreamByter script and back to ZOA. Looks like feedback, and it is, but not harmful since doesn't create a loop. Or just route them back to ZOA using the AUM routing matrix.

Thank you, this helps. Turns out you can just pick zoa as modulation source for itself in AUM, with velocity per play head as a modulation target. That’s simple enough for my needs.

Any chance you could colour code the playheads? 4 identical highlights on the life grid is a bit confusing…

That’s a good thought. You would be able to see what lane was sending out which note. Or at least the option to do it.

just Purchased but I see that the screen is different fro what I see in the avail tutorials on YT like it is cut ( definitely ) in the menu LIFE I miss the Autoadvance - Pace and Auto Respawn Options and velocity and Channel ( the most important )on the right pane... is that normal ? was it update to this layout? Running on Ipad Pro 1st Gen iOS15

Did it , now it still look like the standalone, no options listed above, the channel is the one I really need, can't understand why

  • Sorry @alancodger , its ok for me , I’m on 15.6 IPad Pro, perhaps a device / OS thing.. 😢

Well so far I only had troubles with the iOS15.6.1 update but I don't think is my Ipad or I hope not because all my apps runs ok.. >:)

@alancodger , try scrolling. If you touch the area where Action and Size are and swipe up you should see the Auto advance, Pace, and Auto-Respawn controls.

Sorted! for unknown reason to me the screen does not autostretch and I have to scroll with my finger to unhide the rest of the panels.... wtf

  • Glad it’s OK, hope you enjoy it 😊

I believe this changed a while ago when the top bar with Presets and Mod Outs was added.

  • Just started to try this app
    It’s quite fun
How do I clear and have a blank screen, so no pattern

Also what ever way I have the ‘auto respawn’ switch it keeps changing the pattern—— is this a bug or is it me not understanding

    This is on iPhone 11
    Latest iOS

    Any help would be appreciated

  • @Gdub The pattern evolves according to the Game of Life. The rate is set by the Pace, and enabled by Auto Advance. Turn off Auto Advance to have a static pattern. Auto Respawn just enables a new random pattern when the auto evolution stalls.

The "X" in Life Actions on the left sidebar clears the pattern.

You might check the built-in manual (bottom of Settings). Zoa has some pretty sophisticated features that are worth knowing about.

  • @uncledave
    Thanks for the quick reply
Strangely I don’t have an ‘x’ on my left hand side

See below. You may need to scroll the sidebar to see it. Each sidebar scrolls separately.

  • ZOA Actions cannot be controlled via MIDI

I wonder a little bit. I used ZOA as AU in AUM. Almost everything can be controlled via MIDI, but not the actions (buttons for advance, respawn, and clear grid). Did I miss something?

And by the way, I would select one the panels (make it visible) via MIDI. Is this possible? Greetings!

Yes. Well, the parameters cannot be directly controlled by MIDI. But the AUv3 parameters can be MIDI-mapped by the host. That's not exactly the same, but gets the job done.

I wish Advance and Respawn were exposed also. It would be very useful. I already use a StreamByter script to randomly change the playhead Rules every few bars. It would be great to add Advance and Respawn to that.
