  • Whether it's the "77" club or and ageing John Connor
meeting up with a distance Leader of the Resistance?
Here's a quick vid showing you what you can do.

I built it on my iPad and then simply put on my iPhone.
It's much more streamlined than my first iteration
due to some of the new things turning up in dRambo.

I put it together earlier this week and since then
I now have four set pieces designed around this sequencer!
using the new Clips from dRambo as well as playing in notes live
alongside looping and soloing on guitar courtesy of Loopy Pro.

  • Nice!
Looks like a good use for an older iPad or iPhone.

  • I guess it’s not May 7th then. :(

Exactly what I was aiming for.
There's also midi output for all four tracks so it
can be used to trigger external sounds as well.

This is also what I was testing on Sonobus the other evening.

  • my guess is next thursday

After messing with the very limited MidiDream Seq today.. Drambo’s update looks like it is going to be a revolution, not just for iOS.. but music creation in general..
Changing a key/scale in MidiDream and adding probability.. one can transform a project into a completely different song with just a few moves.. can only imagine The Drambo approach..
    Can’t wait…

  • Be honest with us @giku_beepstreet. This is all just to avoid being removed from the App Store because of the "not updated in 1 year" thing, isn't it?

So in about 45 min beepstreet’s time. 🤣

@gregsmith Call it Drambo 2 First Blood and tap on the cog. Actually I think there is a 2 week limit on changes!

Nah, Jason's Return would be more appropriate ;)

You mean like Jason from the movie "Friday the 13th"? Wait... this coming Friday is Friday the 13th. :o

If so any other name suggestions?

I hope there will be comprehensive documentation and video tutorials covering all new features, whenever this release happens. After this amount of time there really is no excuse for this not to be the case.

This seems like a strange conclusion to draw. I'm not saying that it won't happen, but the PDF manual is already outdated and the video tutorials have been created by enthusiasts, so there's no guarantee.

I’m a fan of Drambo but hardly use it at all. I think it’s biggest problem is the lack of decent patches. The standout being the paid work by COTCD. The factory patches are few and pretty uninspiring. Patchstorage after two years has just c.400 patches (but many aren’t instruments). Compare that to the new Virsyn Tera Pro synth at 1800 and you’ll see the point.

If you're waiting for more built-in patches to start working with Drambo, it may be that this is not the right tool for you.

Why do you say that? You have no way of knowing how much time he has available for documentation vs. development time. Drambo has only gotten to where it is with fully dedicated development time. The developer isn't sitting around twiddling his thumbs rather than developing documentation and videos.

Also, who's going to spend a ton of time documenting features that until recently have been under significant redesign as they have up until just very recently with this update? This is especially true for videos. Videos take a lot of time and it's not like you can just adjust a paragraph or two of text when features change.

Also, keep in mind that only beta testers have the app, those aren't necessarily the same people who produce tutorial videos.

If you're primarily a preset surfer then it makes sense that Drambo isn't your cup of tea.

  • Documentation is by no means ever a given. It's nice but not guaranteed and requires a lot of time.

  • Sorry to those who have been negatively affected by the beta banter.

    Let me just say this:
The update is imminent and it is vast.

Why is it a free update if it’s taken so much development time and is so vast? We pay a fortune for our devices yet here is a developer basically working for free to bring us a shit-tonne of new cool stuff.

Obviously this comment is not aimed at you @supadom as you’re “just the messenger” here.

Is it due to it all just being too vast to make it realistically IAP-able? Or is it a fear of the backlash & negative feedback if it’s pushed out as a v2.0 new app (like we saw when Cubasis went from v2 to v3)??

  • I have recommended adding tipjar option. It's a massive update, and I'll gladly contribute.

    No worries.
This is developer’s personal choice with which I don’t really want to argue. To me this should definitely be v2 and a paid version. This has been put to the dev more than once by me and others here and on beta. I’ve also suggested making more features IAP but that hasn’t happened either other than the wavetable module.

So I’m not planning to argue any cases with a mind clearly vastly superior to mine. He’ll have his reasons and if that’s his wish I’m only happy for those from places with less than favourable exchange rates and who already own the app, to be able to take advantage of this free update.

I’m guessing this should come with the ‘while it lasts’ caveat because sooner or later inflation is going to bite us all and things will almost definitely need to change.

I’m on the fence. It will be the same price after the update or should I buy it now?

  • Maybe ‚77’ is May 14th?

I was talking more in broad economic terms. Most governments printed so much money during the pandemic and now with energy prices at record high the cost of living is going up for most.

I don’t know your needs but I pretty much stopped buying apps since Drambo cropped up.

It’s not going to go down in price, so what are you waiting for?

My theory is that giku wanted to follow through on the app he envisioned, and respects the money and faith of the people who bought Drambo before he had the chance to fully realise his vision. I know there are loads of new modules and features still planned for after this update!

There will be videos from members of the community covering the new features, and a rejig of the documentation.

  • I think this is a lifetime app and should follow the model @michael researched and adopted to provide a steady income over multiple years of effort.

While we wait..here’s a gentle reminder of what you can already do in Drambo v1.

I started by building a synth clap module*.. and then suddenly nostalgia for my 1990s Amiga gaming days came flooding back and I spontaneously spent the next 2 hours building this cover version of the Chris Huelsbeck classic.

100% Drambo (v1). No plugins. No Samples.

*more info on this side project soon
