    I notice the theme of the app has changed to white… guess it has do to with the global iOS setting?. I’d love to change it back to black/orange. Just for Sample Crate. Would that be possible?.

    Couple of comments/requests:

    • the Sample Crate pads seem to wait for the sample to finish before playing the sound again. This makes it hard to test drum samples in a finger drumming manner. There’s actually a lot more space between hits on the crate pads than on the file preview.
    • Thinking of a way of previewing crate samples in context… A little midi sequencer would probably be far-fetched. But maybe some pre-programmed patterns?. KORG Gadget Module has some preview riffs/lines to audition presets in context.

    Regarding the pads... yeah, it has a bit of lag because of those freaking gestures (drag, long press to delete). I'm thinking of putting a toggle switch: EDIT MODE / LIVE DRUM MODE or something, because it's making me itch too.

    But now I'm trying to fix the sample chain issue with mixed formats.

    As I said, maybe a setting to choose light/dark theme?. Personally I like having a different theme for Sample Crate than the one in files app, so I don’t confuse them and can tell what’s what at first glance. And I do like the black/orange.

    Also, it’s not a “fast” sample manager. Not when I keep discovering folders of samples I didn’t know I had… 🤪

    I’m happy with the dark theme, a white background is just bad in the evening. Always good to have an option to switch I guess, personally I’m almost always in dark mode.

    That’s a good idea for loops and longer audio files.

    Updating phone to ios 15. Figure it will be a good app. Even though I dont have samples. I can use the pads to audition samples before sending as a chain. Hoping its same price before update is complete. Mr cheap.

    Hey this app seems to deliver exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’ll use it to prepare samplechains for my hardware samplers.

    I have read the thread, but Please let me know if I understand it correctly:

    I need samplechains with 16 equal spaced sounds in Wav format.

    The length of the various sounds is different. The first 4 will be short hits of 1 second while the last 4 sounds in the chain could be 5-8 seconds long. Still, the chain have to be divided in 16 equal parts in the hardware samplers = the 1 second bass drum sound will have a “silence tail” of 4 seconds to match the last sounds of 5 seconds.

    Does this make sense to you?
    And is it possible - in an easy way - to arrange and export in this way?

    Amazing! This was something I thought would be super useful when I first installed the app. Now I can browse a bunch of say, hi-hat samples, add the best contenders to the crate, then audition & narrow down the 'finalists' from the crate, and drag into Koala - absolutely spot on, this is perfect!

    Folder favourites was my other immediate thought, and it appears that's already covered too - I'm so happy this app has arrived, thank you!

    Joking or not, it would still be a very good deal, devs should be fairly compensated for their work of course. If you consider it, I would suggest letting prospects in the app store description know about "introductory price valid until date x".

    You're not limited to 16 samples

    Thanks but what I mean is this:
    My hardware sampler automatically chops a file into 16 equal parts, no matter how long the file is or where there actual sound is placed within the file. No threshold detection.

    So, I need to prepare samplechains that are made to be autosliced into 16 equal parts even if the 16 sounds has different length.

    Imagine 16 samples placed on 16 bars. Each sample is anchored/quantised to the start of a bar so they are even spaced. Some of the samples are short and some of them long. When the hardware sampler autochop the exported file, I’ll get 16 samples on 16 pads with perfect sample start. The shorter samples will have a “tail” with silence so that they are even with the longest sample. It is not the best sample economic (space/ram) but it is a really convenient way of working.

    I want to avoid to chop the exported file by hand (start of each sound) in the sampler.

    An example could be a kit.
    First 8 sounds are dry (short)
    Next 8 are the same sounds with fx (long)

    Is it more clear now?
    And is it possible?

    That would make it easier to import to koala and GR-16 too. Although koala has transient detection it some times cut the attack of the sample.

    it's called region chop. And you're not limited to 16 in Sample Crate. You can have 9. And set Koala or MPC to chop into 9 regions.

    Split view. You can keep both Koala and Sample Crate in split view. Koala allows multi-sample import so you should be able to drag and drop multiple files.
