We were not fast enough... : )

  • @alecsbuga
Thanks for the app, the one touch preview alone in slide over mode is so much better than the files app… one less click per preview will save loads of time!

Have you thought about adding a querty keyboard shortcut to preview files?

Using the arrow keys on a querty keyboard is fast and I’m so used to just pressing the space bar on Mac OS to preview, that would be ideal. Moving through folders with left and right arrows would be amazing too. (Not asking for much!) maybe that’s not possible on IOS but would be cool.

Awesome app already. It’s going to change how I use the iPad for sure.

CMD + O, CMD + DOWN ;) Hold down CMD on ipad and wait for the shortcuts popup to show

  • Thanks for this @alecsbuga, just bought it and looking forward to getting the pile of stuff in AudioShare a little closer to organized!

  • Guys, if you really find it useful, please leave a review / rating. Thank you so much!

  • Wow! This is amazing. You are a legend!

@alecsbuga One last question before buying (but I’ll surely buy it anyway 😏): when we see up a 4x4 crate player, is it possible to drag and drop it to another app (E.g. Beatmaker 3, Koala,…)?

Right now you tap a Share button and Open in Koala. You can tap Share and "Tag" and you save the crate to a tag.

I'm pushing an update RIGHT NOW that adds a drag button. check out my link above. I've posted a quick video.

I’ve seen the video, but it wasn’t clear how it would manage a drag and drop on another 4x4 app…does it maintain the pads disposition? In the video I could only see that you can drag on another files manager app. Therefore my question

Anyone out there care to elaborate on how they’ve organised their sample library on iCloud to share across multiple devices?

TLDR How are people going to use this to re organise their samples?

Tags and favourites are synced via iCloud… I feel like a dinosaur for never using this…

I have always used Dropbox as when I tried iCloud it seemed to copy everything from my Mac or iPad to the cloud and I wanted to be selective about which samples were online so I stuck with Dropbox. I’ve read comments about iCloud being used across devices and am wondering what’s possible.

I’m a massive sample hoarder, and have loads of duplicates “In my iPad” due to the nature of how each app usually makes you import them to its own browser for quick access.

I’ve just got a new iPad, but I restored it from my previous to save time re importing a load of big libraries using zip files over airdrop. I’ve started using WebDAV for Drambo and linking in to Audioshare over WiFi to save time.

Think it might be a good time to get inspiration from someone’s clear organised file system.

I’m not adverse to starting from scratch if i have a clear system.

Any tips on tagging, batch re naming, organisation etc would really help. I’m pretty old school when it comes to folders. I have folders in folders in folders …

I can't install Koala in the iOS Simulator :) But basically you can drag those into Koala, Beatmaker, whatever :D

  • Ok, thank you. I will discover if pads positioning is maintained 😉

I can’t quite figure out how to share a crate with Koala.

Exporting from crate directly to koala only loads the first sample

Exporting to a folder on my iPad, selecting all then using the share function with koala only loads the first sample

Selecting all the exported samples and drag and drop works (and keeps their order)

    Thanks for any tips

  • We were talking about the drag all button which I just implemented. It should be in the next update. Sorry for the confusion

  • Not sure if I missed this, but I’m hoping it works with external HD & SSD’s? If so can you view and access external drives just like the files app? And hopefully move the file from that external source to the sound pad Preview part?

  • Does it do any bulk audio conversion as well?

No freaking way, I have to get this. Dang you for creating such a cool and useful app, I was trying to abstain from purchases until BF week, there goes that plan, lol. Thanks, and congratulations on the release. Buying now. Cheers!

Has anyone used it browsing one's own file server or NAS?

Im going to try when I get home in about 5 hours. I'll report back. But @alecsbuga stated in a previous question of mine that it will work with anything that works with files.app. I have Synology's at home.

Please let us know the results!

    @espiegel123 and @alecsbuga

It works and connects to my NAS’s (synologys with drives formatted as BTRF, RAIDed, etc…usual synology setup). Functions as expected. Previewing, adding stuff to the crate, and importing into apps all over Wi-Fi. I’ll play with it some more over the next couple days to see if I can break it.

The only hiccup was I could not connect to the NAS directly from the SampleCrate app. It’s just spun and timed out. When I connected in the files app, it just showed up in samplecrate.

I disconnected from the NAS, went back to samplecrate, and now I can just reconnect to it in the SampleCrate app (and it reconnects in files as well).

So maybe the external server/NAS needs to be seen once in the files app before SampleCrate recognizes it?

(some additional info about my nas’s…they are set to allow connections on SMB2. In the past I had issues connecting via SMB3 with my macs. Jumbo frames are enabled everywhere on my network [although this doesn’t matter over wifi])

    Actually.....lemme take that back.

The app just crashed during an export. Now when i go back to the same folders, i can navigate all the folders, but I cannot see any of the .wavs

SampleCrate says 0 items. Files app shows all the .wavs
Now the files apps show no .wavs

I suggest you duplicate your files before testing.....

    Update 2:
OK...so maybe it was a connection error. Samples are back.

Export from NAS over WiFi to Koala only imports the 1st sample in the crate.
If i export again, it loads the 1st sample in the crate in the next Koala slot
Another export - next Koala slot, but always the 1st sample only.
Rearrange the crate to make sample 1 different, export that next sample only to the next slot in Koala.

Edit: this seems to be maybe a Koala error? Exporting crate to Koala from "on my iPad" same thing. Or maybe I'm just doing this wrong, lol (def possibility)

  • Something that’s possibly esoteric, but I find myself wanting to do often is to select multiple stems/samples at once then and preview all at the same time without stacking them on a linear timeline. Wondering if that’s possible with the Files app API? Or even something anyone else is into?

  • That sounds like my experience pulling my hair out trying to get Files App to manage a NAS. It's unreliable even with a USB drive directly connected. Good luck.

  • Wow. My first iOS 15 cockblock. It looks awesome. No complaints, just caught me off guard; I knew it was coming.

I dont have an issue really managing the NAS with files itself. I dont really manage from it per se. Just navigate and transfer what I need. Any large scale management is done on the NAS itself. The issue is happening when I’m using SampleCrate, not the files app.
(The synology iOS app itself BLOWS)

I've not had any problems accessing files from my Synology via iOS Files. I do know that some apps have to do something when files might need to download.
