  • Does AuV3 allow access to all folders?

    @alecsbuga I’ve been meaning to ask…

Since I’ve had samplecrate installed, all wavs in the files app show the orange/black icon instead of the normal one. Is there a way to only show it within sample crate? If not, it’d be great to be able to choose colours :)

Not complained until now honestly but I'll look into it so it shows only in SC

Thanks. It’s probably only me that’s bothered, but I’m a designer and things like that eat away at me. Not enough to actually remember to mention it to you til now, so low priority 🙂

I’d love for it not to change all my wav icons in the files app to black and orange also, thanks 👍🏽

  • Yeah that's also on the list as a preference. It just wasn't a priority

    Yes.

  • Is there a trick to getting sample chaining to work? Whenever I try it the samples aren’t evenly spaced. They kind of bunch together in pairs.

Sorry for being late to the party, but yeah slide-over is the way to go. I mean if you want it AUv3 just to play the pads, I'm sure there are others out there doing a much better job.
Plus, AUv3 is still a mystery to me and a b***h to implement from what I've learned so far.

as a small update, I'm working on some new features for a while now, but the job became super busy lately so they're on pause at the moment.

Basically I want to build a wave editor / slicer inside Sample Crate.

Sounds awesome can’t wait. An editor would be really cool. Cheers.

Samples are evenly spaced here. Are all the samples the same sample rate?

Ah, maybe that’s it. Thanks, I’ll investigate the sample rate. The last one I tried was a bunch of snares chopped from the same break, so they should have been the same but I’ll double check. Cheers!

I just checked this again and the samples I tried recently were all the same sample rate, 24 bit, 48000 hz. It’s weird, I get these additional bits added that look like the initial transient being repeated rather than leaving a blank space. It feels like a bug or maybe it doesn’t support 24 bit samples.

Edit: It does exactly the same thing with 16bit samples. Bugger!

  • are you sure you have the latest version, because I fixed this, and people reporting it had no error.

Can you send over the samples used?

There's an email address in the SEND FEEDBACK part of the app

Yep, definitely the latest version. I’ll send you the samples and a few more details, cheers mate!

  • Yes, a randomizer would be great. Ideally, fetches a random variety by name.

  • Picked this up last night. I wasn’t sure whether I needed samplecrate in addition to AudioShare but the two complement each other well. I’m especially digging bulk rename and bulk export.

Is there a way to do bulk export on an iPhone in the absence of split screen?

Off to write a review on the App Store. Nice work @alecsbuga

Yes. you can TAP the export button and use the share sheet to save it / open it wherever you want, OR drag and while holding the drag, swipe to the new app and drop it :D

  • I’ve just bought the app and tried to extract audio from a YouTube video as I’d do on koala but getting an error message saying it can’t be done. I screen recorded as usual and the videos in my pictures folder. Can anyone tell me how to fix this please?

  • Is there a way to duplicate a crate? I have a couple of crates with a bunch of loops and would like to duplicate them and eliminate some loops to create pared down versions.

Also, is there a way to drag drop individual pads from a crate?

Not at the moment. I haven't felt a need for that. But I'll add this to my list of features requested by users.

Well there are actually 2 feature requests in there. The individual dragging sounds interesting.

  • @alecsbuga : thanks for considering them. They would both be helpful in managing huge collections.

  • I have used samplecrate to organise loads of crates and tag them. All fantastic.

Then, Sitala comes to the party with its amazing file browser, but it doesn’t support tags (yet!)

So I’ve been thinking about other options. Maybe copying the files into folders instead of tags? Although the beauty of tags is that the files can stay in there original place, which is useful. I think if you copy a file to a folder, it doesn’t take up any more room on ios so maybe it’s not a problem?

    What are others doing?

I'm using Sample Crate as my main sample repo. Then Sitala reads folders from there. I don't use tags tho. Drambo also uses Sample Crate as reference folders for samples, wavetables for its library, so no duping samples.

Also, started using the Sample Chain feature and those will be housed in Sample Crate as well.

So does sample crate act as a source for Sitala? How does that work?

Or do you use Sitala as a way to organise folders?

    drag/drop from samplecrate into Sitala?

This begs a feature to copy all files with a particular tag to a target folder?

Yeah sample Crate is the directory for all sample folders and then use either Sitala browser pointing to Sample Crate folders or use drag and drop.

  • Is it possible to drag a single pad from Sample Crate or only the whole crate?

  • From the crate area it’s all at once unless there’s some secret key combo Easter egg.

  • I don’t know if I’ve asked for this before but could you add a loop toggle to the audio player? Sometimes I browse loops @alecsbuga

    Cheers

Can you please explain this?. As far as I know in Drambo you have to import the folders, because of the sandbox thing, so there’s always duplicates. What do you mean by reference the Sample Crate folder?. Thanks!

I tested this on my new iPad when I got it last year. Where I placed all my samples in Sample Crate and used the import folder feature in Drambo. Drambo creates a reference to the folder in Sample Crate and shows the files in its browser. Basically it's a symlink like on desktop, so files aren't duplicated. I validated this by checking my storage after importing into Drambo, and free space was the same.

If you import off an SD card or cloud storage, then files are imported / copied into Drambo.
