@alecsbuga Sent feedback through the app, with attached zip, but it's stuck in the Outbox, with an 'Attachment Failed to Load' error. Tried renaming .zip to .piz due to you using Gmail - it didn't help.
1.0.22 (30) - In Crates using WAVs with different bit depths and sample rates, several of the hits are doubled in the exported Sample Chain. I don't know if it's due to bit depth or sample rate. Attached is the zip file.
You can see the doubled hits below -

If the WAVs are all the same bit depth and sample rate, the exported Sample Chain seems to be fine.
Yup working for me too! Thank youuuuuu
It would be nice if you could rearrange the samples on the page - a bit like rearranging the apps as they appear on your iPad.
👍
You mean arrange them in the Crate Player?
Just flip the EDIT switch and drag them around. Then when you're finished flip it back.
In that mode you can toggle Loop and delete pads.
I was meaning on the actual sample page before making a crate. I hadn’t been using the crate, I had only been using it for the benefit of being able to audition samples easily before dragging and dropping them.
What I was hoping to do was - have a page of say vocal samples then had I been processing one through effects - I could then place it beside the original in order that when I return to audition them - I have the same sample with different effect variations side by side. I had a dabble with the crate, I can shift them around there like you were saying but you can’t seem to drag and drop individual samples onto say Koala from the split screen from the crate - it’s only the bulk export I think?
All the browsing capability is provided by iOS, there's not too much to do there as a 3rd party, you could use naming and then sort by name.
Individual dragging is on the list.
Apparently Koala broke multi drag in the latest update. It's crashing on my devices.
Good news everyone!
I managed to make Batch Rename work OUTSIDE the app folder. F**K YEAH!
There's a catch. You need to pick and grant access to the parent folder of the samples before you start renaming. Because in iOS "rename" is actually "move". You're moving the file from the old location to the new location.
So right now I'm tinkering with the UX for this. Should be published soon
👍
Yes - arranging by name would be the option - it’s still a bit of a hassle though. You have to get it - rename it after finding the name of the first one - make sure you name it in such a way that it will hit its target - then check it’s there - then fix it if you have for some hitherto unexpected reason made a botch up of it - which I seem to manage regularly. Maybe if I were to actually concentrate whilst I was doing it it would help…. but it’s so easy to drift if you are doing several 😀. I tried dictating, but my Scottish accent is tricky for IOS to get a grip of. We need a tartan algorithm.
On slide over mode if you open the settings menu you can't close it anymore. iPad 10.2"
Is there a way to lower the volume of the sample playing?
@alecsbuga
Would something like this be possible? (Having semitone speed control would be awesome too!)
Working on an audio editor functionality. Trim, slice, export slices. But it’s taking a bit of time to develop so I’ll probably make it an IAP.
As for semitones. This is not the purpose of the app, although I see the use case for it. Maybe I’ll put an Open With Samplist button so you can test it out there.
Volume… it just uses the device volume at the moment, as for settings… looking into it. Thanks for noticing
Not really thinking an editor and BM3 does the slicer thing fine for me. I just want a quick way to assign a chunk of a file to a pad. Then when I export the crate it just extracts the small bit I chose. Clean up would happen wherever i export the crate to. Resonic Pro does this more or less.
Ahh bummer. works great in Resonic Pro. Extremely handy. Whatever the semi tone is set to the audio export is effected. So i dont mean for notation like purposes so a Samplist link for testing would be overkill/not the same thing for me.
Here is what I mean by range selection/extraction with semitones. Note that the two extracted ranges then have their pitches baked into the export...
The problem I have is that samples are super loud when I use it beside BM3 because I usually compose with lower volumes.
Noted
So a new update has been pushed
• Fixed dragging multiple files from the crate to other apps (Koala in particular)
• Batch rename now works with external folders. You just need the samples to be in the same folder, and grant access to that folder.
• Various bug fixes & improvements.
• Laid foundation for new exciting features.
What I'm working on right now:
• MIDI Preview
• Audio Editor (Trim, slice, export slices)
• Start / End points in Crate Player
• In App Volume control
• Playheads in Crate Player pads for longer samples
I'll release these features as they're done, not in a particular order.
Happy New Year!
Very nice! Thanks Alex.
So my sample situation is a mess….. I have way too many. Scattered all over between my devices. So if I start organizing on my Main iPad (1tb) is there a limit to the number of tags I have?
Sweeeeet!
None that I know of. It's the tags manager from iOS so I haven't hit a limit. But from my own experience, folders are the best.
And the update is already up. Wow Apple!
Here's a quick video about batch rename and giving the app write access to the folder.
I have a mega request:
Make the pads for the crate able to get a random sample that fullfils a criteria.
For example I could enter a search term "kick" to one pad and then when pressing the upper half of the pad it shuffles to a new "kick" sample, when I touch the bottom part it plays the sample, so I could have a "kick" pad, a "snare" pad.. a "hat" pad... and play them AND choose random sounds at the same time to get a sound I like.
If this is too out of scope I would love to have some kind of random sample order so I don't see the same order everytime
@alecsbuga I’ve been meaning to ask…
Since I’ve had samplecrate installed, all wavs in the files app show the orange/black icon instead of the normal one. Is there a way to only show it within sample crate? If not, it’d be great to be able to choose colours
