That's the plan. I am curious about the problems you are having controlling the existing DrumJam pads via MIDI though... there are no fixed note bindings, each kit will respond a little differently but you should be able to definitely control it. There is a GM bindings option in the prefs under MIDI setup, or if you disable that then all the pads should be available all over the midi note space.
No trying to bug or rush ya @sonosaurus but any eta on beta, or eta on release?
It’s possible that I’m just bad at routing midi between apps if they aren’t in AUM or some other kind of host. I did get it to work once but it was a long time ago. I guess I haven’t checked in a long time, sorry. I barely use any apps in IAA mode at all nowadays, and when I do it has to be very simple for me otherwise I’m prone to all the user errors. So you can probably just chalk this up to a user error and I’ll patiently wait for the auv3 version 😁
Thanks again for doin this!
You have to load the instrument (or is it the generator). Anyway, loading just the pads will not respond to external midi. But the instrument will.
A new update from Thumbjam just landed! Thanks @Sonosaurus!
Any news about the Drumjam Pads?
Any chance of orchestral percussion, timpani, etc.?
I believe they mentioned you can transfer everything from the DrumJam - Pads, (bottom part) factory and IAP sounds, plus more…
Have you found much in the way of timpani and orchestral percussion in DrumJam?
I know there wasn’t much orchestral percussion, but I thought there was a timpani but nope. it’s timbales, and tabla, my bad.
No problem.
Is there any news or beta available?
Is original Drumjam a cheaper way to get world drums and is it ideal to sample to fac drum? Can I still get velocity from launchpad x if samples are in fac drum?
If new app is still being made.
Obviously it would be good as its own player for the drums but where I use an ipad just for drums. Id mix and match low cpu drum apps, which are sequenced in Drambo.
So were wondering if its worth buying drumjam to sample to Fac drum?
DrumJam samples have a lot of layers. Would be a lot of work to sample them. Easier to just send your midi into DrumJam.
hmm may as well use fac drum.
Hope the auv3 version is like the original drumjam
but low cpu and also work like fac drum, Ting etc.
A key of an octave will trigger a drum ( obviously )
but copy sounds from a kit to another kit.
Mix and match drum kits.
hey there,
i love drum jam! i am building a set for live performance and it would be great to be able to mix and match the samples from drumjam for finger drumming.
are there news about the development, or did the project get cancelled?
cheers!
Curious as well. Maybe @sonosaurus has an ETA?
I wouldn’t put words in a programmer’s mouth but after working in the computer industry I know that every estimate of
a software products delivery date had 2 unintended consequences:
It’s best to ship when the work is finished and not sooner. Less anger and better products.
Oh most definitely. I don’t begrudge the dev at all for taking their time. DrumJam and Thumbjam are 2 all time favorites and I’m still happy using them how they are for right now. And will wait patiently for the anything else
100% true, period.
Also, @sonosaurus is top-5 best developer ever on iOS (a real pioneer) so we can wait, no problem…
Also, DrumJam in current state is furious funny to use and play - really high quality app!
Yeah the way they implemented the rolls and fills on the drum pads is fantastic. And the sample quality is top tier even by today’s iOS standards. Thumbjam would easily be a top 10 app if I had to pick.
Ahhhh, yeah… some other things have gotten in the way… but what are your opinions about the loops half of DrumJam also coming as its own AUv3? In some ways that could be simpler, since it would still be audio-loops based with fewer new features involved than the pads one has turned out to have.
I’d use that. I currently generate a lot of drum loops from the Lumbeats suite but I suspect your loops will cover additional world music territory.
Not totally against the idea of loops, especially given the quality of the source material. However, if there were a poll to determine which of the two to prioritise I'd definitely vote for pads
So would you use it as a sequencer out to loop or be able to record audio directly in as a looper? I think that would be a ton of fun. I love the workflow of DrumJam so having that in a separate app would be sweet!
No rush, btw, I was just curious
@sonosaurus I hadn't seen this post yet ! what great news! AuV3 pads would be top !!!.
Loops are less of a priority (for me) because you can already use cc's.
PS: if it were possible to add a 'fills' box for each part :-) (this part would only be play with a fill at the end of the pattern) next to the lock for example
Every time someone comments on this thread I get excited thinking it finally happened 😭
Me too
I’m probably a customer for this
