Has anyone managed to get MIDI Guitar 2 working inside Loopy? I think I have it wired up correctly with MG added as an effect on mic input then the “A” instance added as a MIDI lane but it does not send any MIDI out to the destinations I have selected (tried a few synths and MIDI monitor). The internal MG synths respond OK to input so that part is working correctly but LP is not seeing the MIDI out.

Odd…just restarted Loopy and now MG in the MIDI lane is labelled as “B” version and it and is sending MIDI out correctly. I can reproduce the original problem though by removing MG and adding it back in again.

    I have the same issue.

Ditto here. Sent a message to Michael, he said it's fixed in the next update. Awesome!

  • I have my iPad connected to the Mac and I'm using the usb connection (audio in + midi in/out) and my problem is when restarting Loopy pro (most of the time) it will loose the connection, I need to add that midi input again, reassigning connections.

Any idea ? The port name is IDAM MIDI host and it has always the same name

I’ve had the same problem and the only workaround I’ve found so far is to use Audiobus in the middle. Set Lp to send and receive from AB and setup Audiobus to route to and from idam.

    !
Good idea but I'm wondering if it's not adding an extra buffer latency, will try !

What I did was to add atom in the middle but within loopy, I still have to add the track but just have to send to atom instead of 20+ synth :p

I would not expect Ab to add much latency, if any in real terms, certainly in the case of just passing through one port to another.

I can’t seem to grant access to the microphone in standalone mode? I tap the ‘open settings’ option and it doesn’t show up…

Any help would be appreciated, I can’t seem to find the info I need. It seems simple, I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong here. Using a behringer u-phoria um-2 audio interface…

    What OS?

Disconnect everything . Reboot your device and look in Microphone settings. then reconnect your device.

  • I am Using iOS 15.1 on a 2017 12.9” pro

I did disconnect, hard reboot, no change. Will try again and delete/reinstall the app if it continues

Your settings screenshot shows that you are looking in Settings>Loopy Pro and you won’t find it there.

You’ll need to go to Settings>Privacy>Microphone and then find Loopy Pro on the list and turn on for access.

That’s what pops up when I hit the prompt in loopy pro. Anyhow, I checked the privacy->mic settings and loopy pro doesn’t even show up on that list of apps, nor does it show up on the list of apps that recently requested access. I might try deleting and reinstalling the app, I can’t see any other way to get this to work?

The audio interface inputs and outputs are showing up in loopy, however:

On my iPad, ios 15.1, mic permissions show in Settings for both Loopy Pro and Microphone?

when you are not plugged into the interface, does it show microphone permissions?

  • It does not. Yeah I don’t know, maybe it just doesn’t support my interface for some reason. I’ve spent over 2 hours dinking around with it this and it totally killed my vibe. It works fine as an effect in AUM; I can still mess around with it like that for now and maybe it will work someday in the future. Not sure if I’m ready to justify a $30 purchase on something I can’t get the full use out of right now

I also took a dive into some of my other accessibility settings just to see if I had something on which may override this, as I know sometimes iOS is funky like that with secret settings, but I don’t know what I’m looking at with most of those settings and I never touch them anyways.

Bummer, too, cuz this looks super fun and useful for my workflow -_-
Any other advice would be appreciated

Did you try deleting the app, rebooting, with no interface connected, reinstall and launch.

Make sure it works with internal mic before connecting the interface.

This seems like a freak occurrence. I’ve seen similar reports.

  • Yup I did all that. Ran calibration. Tested with internal mic. Just seems like it doesn’t want to recognize the audio from my audio interface. I tried various sample rates, etc, as well. I feel like I tried everything you can possibly do, it just doesn’t seem to even ask for mic permission or even if it is recognizing the I/O’s inputs and outputs, it’s not ‘listening’ to them? Or iOS is not letting it through?

I know there are sometimes sample rate sync issues on iOS with audio interfaces depending upon which host applications you use ‘first’ and this sets some kind of invisible background settings - not that this would be the issue, but just another example of all the weird ‘hidden settings’ they implement sometimes….I also know there are some ‘zombie audio’ issues on iOS, like Spotify randomly popping up and other nonsense. Unless it’s just a weird bug that I’m experiencing, or some weird setting that I might have turned on in the past, I really can’t think of any other reason.

It’s a simple class compliant audio interface, I’ve never had this issue with other host programs? Does the ‘hardware gain control’ need to be selectable in order for me to be able to use my Behringer with Loopy Pro? Cuz that would kinda suck. I am planning on getting a much bigger I/O someday soon, but I’d love to be able to use it now 😭

I’ll update my iOS version sometime soon too, see if that helps….although I don’t really like doing that very often hehe

So, it works fine with the internal mic but not your interface?

  • I figured it out!!!

It was in the SCREEN TIME settings! When I searched for microphone in the settings it never came up. I don’t remember changing this setting but it’s good to know in case other people have this issue!

    Correct

I'm a little confused by your responses.

First you said you could not access the iPad mic, but the audio interface was OK. When you have an audio interface connected, the internal mic is normally disabled. iPadOS only supports one audio interface at a time. So you would need a mic connected to the interface.

Edit: And you posted a screenshot showing Hardware Input 1+2, which must be from your audio interface.

Microphone permission only applies to the internal mic. It only appears in Settings (both app Settings and Privacy) once the app has requested it. Typically, the first time you start an audio app, there's a flurry of these requests and the popups all overlap, so it can be difficult to respond to them all. When you see that initial mic request, all you need to do is answer yes or no; you're not sent to Settings to change it. And the result of that initial request is what's recorded in Settings. If the internal mic works in stand-alone without the interface connected, then you're all set on that score.

  • Yeah the internal mic was working, the audio interface ‘showed up’ but didnt work. But it’s working now. It was because of the screen time settings, which were preventing any microphone access apparently. I’m not really sure how/why it decided to prevent access from the audio interface but not the internal mic, but in any case it’s all good now

  • Having trouble setting up Scatterbrain multi-out in LP. Could it be that LP does not yet do multi-out?

LP isn’t yet multi-out. It is on the roadmap found at the end of the manual

  • Hi all, no time to read all this looooong discussion but made my google work: I couldn't find info on the required ipad type/model for a standard use, not pro, not minimal, a few plug in instruments and effects and some microphone...
I tried with my tired ipad pro 1st gen (2015), not usable so I will upgrade: to ipad 2018-20 (A13x-z) or shall I go directly with ipad 2021 (M1) to be on the safe side (but almost double budget)? Thaaaanks a lot!

Why do you say unusable on that pro? What problems did you have? make sure to report them to @Michael .

it is perfectly usable on my iPad 6 which is no more powerful than the 2015 pro.

Something's not right there. I use an ancient Air 2 and it is just fine!

  • Whao! I tried to record audio loop from microphone trough external sound card; first loop it semi-freezed with strange noises when I replay (in parallel I had 2 vst, cpu showing around 40%)
