Thanks @espiegel123 - tried it in audiobus but no record button on the ab tab in Samplr. No worries- plenty of other au apps to keep me busy in Lp for now!
No record button for what? For Loopy? If you want to record into Loopy from an IAA app in AUM or AB, you will need set up a midi binding and use some sort of midi controller...which could even be just an iPhone connected via Bluetooth.
Ahh cool I’ll try that thanks!
First post and three part question here, but first I have to say that this app is outstanding. I’m coming from the Novation Circuit and this is the first product that has sparked the same type joy and “addiction” for me. The colors, immediacy, and flexibility have made me laugh with glee. Well done!
Question #1: Is there a way to copy a clip from one page of a project to another page? I’ve modified Shamanics template project and have a full page of a project for creating loops and Re sampling them. I’d like to have a second page of the project for performance that is just a big grid of loops. What is the best way to get clips from page 1 to page 2?
Question #2: is there a way to export multiple clips at the same time? Or perhaps export all clips from a project simultaneously?
Question #3: I’m very naive to workings with a DAW. What does the community recommend as a workflow for turning some loops from loopy pro into a song? Given my experience with the Circuit , I’m pretty comfortable with simply triggering different song sections from a grid of loops. So I could hit record and do that… With that said, I do have Cubasis 3 so I could also send all of the loops there for arranging and mastering. Or would it be better to record a multitrack in LOopy Pro and simply master each track in Cubasis 3? FYI, I’m a hobbyist (no dreams of releasing my music) and prefer to complete a song quickly and easily, as opposed to producing a polished song.
Do you want to copy the "donut" or just the audio? You can get the audio into the clipboard by showing the track's overview. Flick up on a donut to get the overview, tap on the export icon and choose copy. Reverse the process to paste into a donut on the other page.
You can also copy/paste donuts by going into layout mode and drawing a selection rectangle around the clips you want to copy. Choose Copy from the menu that pops up and then tap where you want to paste them on the other page and choose paste.
Bring up the project manager window and tap export. You will be given a choice of exporting the clips.
Or in layout mode, select any clips whose audio you want to export and choose export from the popup that appears when clips are selected.
It is largely about personal preference. I tend to use Loopy's record audio feature and record my performance to disk that way.
Thanks for this, @espiegel123. While building the test case for you, I found a few spots where I might have misunderstood stuff - so I will dig deeper.
That said, here are two things that (while not necessarily bugs) definitely tricked me.
1) Clip data
When I record using audio threshold, the clip data always show a neat start and end of the clip, right on the bar borders:
However, when I record the exact same clip using count-in, the same clip data dialog shows different values, and different attempts of the same recording even show different bar positions vs the audio even if the numbers are consistent:
Is this a feature or a bug? Naively, I would expect the same neat start and end data here as well, as it is the same recording obtained in a different way.
2) Audio threshold vs count-in quantization
If you start with the default clip settings, Count In Quantization is set to Master, and Loop Audio Threshold recording is turned off. if you turn LAT on, CIQ is set to None automatically. That's fine, but when you turn LAT off again, CIQ stays on None, it isn't set back to Master automatically. Again, not necessarily a bug, but it's good to be aware that you do not get back to the previous state (default settings) just by turning LAT off again. It took me some time to realise this
@Michael ?
When you turn LAT off again, it Loopy doesn't know what your previous Count In setting was.
Fair enough, and not a problem with hindsight. But if you don't spot that when you change the setting (because the settings window is scrolled further down etc.) - and you're a noob like me - then it leads to some puzzled head-scratching during your next recording attempt. 😳
That 0.025s offset thing is definitely not intended - I’ll look into that. Does the clip itself sound right upon playback, or does it sound like it’s offset?
Sounds good to me
I’m going to change this behaviour so that it won’t change the count in setting at all when you enable threshold recording. As you say, I think it just creates confusion!
Okay, so it’s just a numeric issue. Should hopefully be easy to fix
Yes, it is always
iPad Pro 2018 iOS 13.5.1 (odyssey jailbreak)
So many app : turnado spacecraft riffer dedalus Discord4 Blackhole koala sampler effectrix facalteza eos2 miRack all bleass perforator qvox and so many... Only 4 apps work like mixbox voicesynth fluxmini Looperator
I’m in 7 days of trial I want to buy this program, but with this condition
I do not think😞
Unless you have a explicit reason (apart from the Jailbreak) to stay on 13.5.1 on a device that supports 15.2 updating the OS could potentially and most likely solve the AUv3 related issues...
Crap….. here again is my sample management issues. 😕. Is there anyway that loopy can tell me what the original sample was???
Yes the original one. 😀
No. It doesn’t currently track names of imported files.
This is not typical. I don’t know if it is related to the OS or jailbreak, but I have used many of those and never encountered that error.
Have you tried a hard reset or power cycle?
Can a widget save and recall play state of all loops? A sorta snapshot system, or am I overlooking the obvious?
A widget could be set up to set all loops to particular states, but there isn’t a snapshot system currently.
You could use a Copy Page action to all the loops to a new page and switch to it. Then all you'd need to do is switch back to the previous page, which is also an available action, to restore your snapshot.
Apologies if this has been asked/answered but my search through the thread has been fruitless. If I create a project in standalone will it be available if Loopy is opened as an AUV inside AUM?
Yes, but you need to move it into the "Audio Unit Extension Folder" from the Projects screen in the standalone to make it available. Of course you it won't load any AUv3's if you have them in that project.
@wim thank you, thank you, thank you.
Be aware that an AU can’t open other AU. So, you should only move a project to the AU if it doesn’t use any AUv3s
@espiegel123 aye, it befuddled me at first and then I remembered the thing about AU not hosting AU. Looking forward to multi-out…
I have an AirTurn BT200 S-2 but I have never really gotten into using a footswitch at all. How would you, experienced foot-user best use these two buttons in Loopy Pro? (I haven't used Bluetooth much either.)
I did a setup controlling over all start/stop with one switch and start/stop a track with the other. This means I have to redo the midi learn when a track is filled. Thought I would ask if any of you have some good advice on how to you use your footswitch optimally.
Thanks for the prompt and informative response, espiegel! What a fun rabbit hole this app is.
