  • Dammit. I managed to avoid buying FRMS when it was on sale at Audioplugin.deals, now you go and show me this and start the deliberations all over again. No brainer if I didn't already have Pigments.

Yet another plugin alliance flash sale:

They're putting some pretty nice ones up at the moment. The Neold is lovely but I have a ton of tape sims already. I also have more EQs than I know how to use but the current flash sale is very tempting as marketing has told me this one has an AIR band which I apparently didn't know I needed. I'm almost feeling the FOMO! LOL.

    Maag EQ 2 $19.99 with voucher MAAG-EQ2-1999.

    https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products/maag_eq2.html

I guess these flash sales are the new normal for PA? With their Forever 29 sub thing any plug-in can be bought anytime for $31. They state you can do this and cancel the sub right after redeeming.

The MAAG Air Band is cool tho.

The last three flash sales have all been for plug-in that were quite tempting (Warble, VSM-3 and the Maag EQ2).

I take the marketing with a pinch of salt. I don't mind that they make you play games and play on your FOMO. That kind of sales technique obviously works. And at least PA don't take away a 2nd license after a year...

The recent flash sales are a lot lower than they used to be, when you had to play even more of a game and couple the flash sales with a 'loyalty' voucher. It seems a tad more straightforward now to be honest, even with the silly discount games. As you say, you can get anything for $31 without waiting and keep an eye on the flash sales for the plug-ins you actually want/need desperately to take your song to the next level.

They are definitely plugging in to most people's love of a bargain and FOMO with their discount games...

One of the things I don’t like about PA is that some of the plugins add gain when you use it in daw ( no AGC) , I know AGC does not make sense since some of the plugins are supposed to be-colored , but at least should be at unity gain when u first launch it

An example is Maag , adds good few db of gain when you first slot it without turning any knob, and sort of fools you

To summarize their plugins are kinda ok for the price

    Definitely not worth 200usd

You know, the only AAS plugin I've really liked so far is their "Strum GS-2" (I bought it). It is somewhat limited in terms of what can strummed on the fretboard, but it uses very convincing acoustic and electric guitar modeling for its sound.

  • For those on the fence about upgrading the V Collection, this might sway them if they admire - but don't have - Pianoteq.

It seems that the Arturia V Collection contains Modartt (i.e. Pianoteq) code in its Piano V code (V2 and V3). Exactly what this code is is not clear but surely it indicates licensing of something - and that something must surely be some aspect of the modelling.

Anyway, I've upgraded and I'm really liking the Piano V3.

They’re definitely cooking the books at this point, but who’s complaining.

But they’re not really synths, right? They’re romplers.

For what it’s worth they give a further discount if you already own part of the bundle (based on what you paid). I got Borsta on intro price and the Percussion bundle is available for $50. Tempting

Yes and no, they sampled the waveform, but they are running it through modeled filters. And with S2 you can combine up to 4 waveforms so kind of both.

It depends what you want. Some of those waveforms definitely sound more „warm“ then for example Arturias versions. You are way more limited though and the filesize is borderline insane.

I like it though, especially for the little price you pay it’s a very good Deal.

They sound great. I think the Syntronik synths sound better than the Arturia synths but I haven’t done any scientific testing of that. But yes, less to tweak and slower to load, so there you go. Another excellent group buy from IK, though! $35 for a lot of top quality synth sounds that can be blended in the Multis to create really fat hybrids.

Instead, I finally decided to go ahead and upgrade my MODO Drums to version 1.5, which has another 5(?) drum kits added to the prior library. And as always, they sound fantastic. Since I had the previous version, the upgrade was only $35. Quite the deal.

  • Inear Display plugins at are a 50% sale until the end of June, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the company. You need to introduce the code inrdtenyears in the purchase windows.

They are all M1 native, they don't have copy protection so even if the company disappear in the next 10 years, you can still install these without relying in a remote server verification.

I picked Ephemere, and once including VAT in my country, the final price was 29 euros.

Ephemere is the closest thing in desktop to Fractal Bits, which is my favorite iOS drum synth. Amazing sounds and presets.

There is also a freebie that you can download, Regresiff, which is fantastic for experimentation.

Do you own Ableton Live Suite?
The PM modules contain AAS code, if you want objeq then you're likely covered.

Also, don't forget Drambo's excellent Modal Resonator and Waveguide modules which run on Mac M1 as well.

I realised that the objeq delay that I’ve had for ages covers most, if not all of it, and definitely has audio in, which I think I’ve ascertained for certain multiphonics doesn’t have… nice one for those other tips too, I do like the resonator in good ol’ drambo 😁

Not only that, but use the code OME50OTC for another 50% off the sale price. Code only works once but is off the whole order. I picked up omnipresser and shimmerverb for $36 together last night. Was contemplating some others as well but have to limit the spending…. (My parking in NYC cost more than that yesterday!)
