I don't get these rompler synths like Syntronik 2, that are based on samples instead of emulating the real thing. When with the technology of today it's possible, see the impressive efforts by Plogue, GForce Software or to a lessen extent, Arturia.

Even if you're a preset player, these synths comes with much more presets and use cases. And even if you don't plan to do sound design, you can always use a defined preset and use LFO modulators in different parameters to create more vivid sounds.

The worst thing of these collections is that they always use the same classic synths, instead of including oddities and rarities that are not emulated by other manufacturers.

I will happily pay for something like Syntronik 2, but only including rare soviet synths.

Or for sampled versions of contemporary synths by manufacturers such as Soma or Dreadbox.

I mean I would share love to get my hands on sampled versions of Cobalt8 and Argon8 alright...🙂 But I don't mind Syntronik, either, other than how slow it is

  • Meanwhile, Orchestral Tools promo over at Native Instruments:
    https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/komplete/orchestral-tools-offer-2022/

I don't know these instruments, and they might be fantastic offers, but in any case the eye-watering (post-discount) prices offer a good contrast to our typical "this fantastic app should not cost 10 unit, I'll wait until the sale at 5" ios-consumer thinking 🙂

By the way, if you purchased the cool iOS app "Spatializer" by @quantovox, it now works on BOTH iOS and desktop. They just informed us (in another thread) that if you bought it for iOS, you can download on desktop and use it as well on M1 Apple computers at no additional charge.

If you don't own it yet, it looks like it's selling at a discount right now.

So, if you have both platforms and want it, download it, test it and give them feedback.

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spatializer/id1574889552

I think developers who go the extra mile (…1.61 kilometers) should get more consideration, especially if the results are beneficial.

Yeah... that's a no for me. They need to distribute their apps for desktop through the App Store. Figure it out, folks.

Hm if you buy into the group buy, will you be able to use all the functions of S2?

Yes, but only when you load the S2 versions of the synths. S2 does play S1 synths as well, but they are not editable.

Ah yea I get it, so I assume I would have to get one of the synths I have for S1 again in the group buy to have the new functions and presets. So if I decide to buy into that I probably should get the new synths first and then upgrade the old ones. Hm good question, I still have some jam points so it would cost me 41€ including tax to get in.

Yes, that’s the strategy. :) With one S2 synth available for free (see above in the thread), you get all the 11 new synths when the group buy gets to 9 free, which is bound to happen in a couple days. Then you just keep adding the refurbished S1 synths in your order of preference as new free slots become available.

We are at 9 free now, so together with the one purchased synth and the free one available through the magazine one can buy all 11 new S2 synths for a total of 50 units net.

  • Maybe already mentioned but AuroraDSP have a sale on. If you subscribe to their newsletter you get an extra $20 of the sale price. I got Rhine desktop for under 20 bucks.

Nice find, had to bite at this price.

The AUv3 plugin id is the same on iPad and desktop so it is possible to move projects in both directions using iPad/Mac MTS and probably GarageBand->Logic/GB on Mac. Unfortunately the AUv3 plugin state is not preserved so you will need to reselect the active preset but at least there are no "plugin not found" errors.

Sounds quite fair and since it’s still 20 days you are also going to get a bunch synths updated.

I have been searching for some time for an adequate replacement for the "yaleD" reverse tape effect app on iOS, but for macOS (desktop) production.

Finally found a really good one. It doesn't have every bell and whistle that "yaleD" had, but since that no longer appears to be available in the App Store... what else could I do?

And my desktop replacement by Initial Audio is currently on sale, to my good fortune.

    https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/5046-Reverse

(And keep in mind you can download a trial version before buying, but it's only $10 right now anyway!)

*I feel I should note I have no financial incentive or connections to either PluginBoutique.com or Initial Audio. This is just something I bought and like.

I think it’s fair to say that goes without saying… I assume nobody has any financial incentive in this thread unless they say otherwise :-)

  • IKM either decided that the group buy is going too fast, or they simply screwed up their counter 🙂

Oh, it must be a logged in price for me. Sorry about that.

  • I’ve really liked every synth I’ve bought from Cherry Audio so far, although I admit I still find the Dreamsynth a bitt baffling and sort of lacking a clear workflow for me.
