Patterning isn’t a Euclidean design. Clock face UI feedback alone isn’t enough. The core difference that makes it a Euclidean design is the decoupling of Steps, Events and Rotation of each ‘clock hand’.

hey. could you tell me specifically what modules are great for Euclidean sequencing ? also bought rack pro 2 but the sheer number of modules is overwhelming lol.
So after testing does it make polyrythm or only polymeter?
It’s been a while since I’ve opened it but I’m sure the steps, events & rotation are decoupled for each clock hand in the last version I tried. It’s definitely the case with steps & rotation.
The difference is that a Euclidean step sequencer strictly uses the concept of Pulses (otherwise known as events). So in simple terms a sequence with 12 steps and and a pulse of 4 will position a hit once every 3 steps. Patterning 2 can be used like a Euclidean step sequencer but it’s not strictly speaking a Euclidean step sequencer because the artist is allowed to place hits wherever they like amongst the 12 available steps and their sequence can feature any arbitrary number hits. A Euclidean step sequencer follows a strict mathematical rule-set.
In truth from a musical perspective I’ll take Patterning 2 over a Euclidean step sequencer every time, as Patterning can be set up like a Euclidean sequencer if you understand the rules. Whereas a strict Euclidean step sequencer can’t break it’s defined rules to behave like Patterning 2.

With people asking what sequencers can do "Euclidean sequencing," unless I'm misunderstanding the concept, I think just about any sequencer can do it, you just need to space your events in a maximally even way. I have read the Godfried Toussaint book referenced in this apps description; it's very interesting and recommended, and easy enough for a layperson to understand (which is what I consider myself).
Here's how to calculate a "Euclidean sequence," in my understanding at least. Say you have five onsets or events in twelve steps. Using 1s and 0s that would look like this (five 1s and seven 0s):
1 1 1 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Then you simply start bringing 0s underneath the 1s:
1 1 1 1 1 0 0
0 0 0 0 0
Notice there are two 0s remaining. Now move those underneath:
1 1 1 1 1
0 0 0 0 0
0 0
Now put the columns in order:
1 0 0 1 0 0 1 0 1 0 1 0
This is a maximally even "Euclidean sequence" for 5 onsets in 12 steps. You can use the same process to find a maximally even sequence for any combination of onsets and steps. If you know how to calculate it, you can program "Euclidean sequences" in just about any sequencer.
That said, this 4pockets sequencer looks great, and I'm very interested in picking it up.

miRack has Valley Topograph/μGraph and Frozen Wasteland Quad Algorithmic Rhythm Generator. The cheapskate and reformed appaholic in me says there's nothing I can do with this that I can't do with a patch in miRack.
However, the convenience of having it all right there, and especially the ease of assigning notes or accepting incoming chords is very tempting.
I'm getting better at resisting app purchases these days. Famous last words, I know.
Using VCV Rack 2 Pro as a VST in Ableton is totally different than miRack on IOS. But I admit, miRack is nice and free. It's the fact that I got a 50% discount offer of the VCV Rack 2 Pro developer, that made it a lot easier. And I love it, the possibilities are almost endless using it as a VST.

is there a way to de-couple the number of events and the number of notes? it sometimes leads to interesting or great results when euclidean events and pitches have polymetric(?) relationships.

How about using the Probability feature?
This is really fun to play with with multi instrument midi sends inside AUM, then just randomly change the settings. Try dropping the BPM setting low down for different results.

So, what can you buy in the App Store that you can't build with Drambo and do you care about that capability? The next Drambo update will continue to eat away at those capabilities.
But what will impact the "hard work" of learning Drambo? MORE DOWNLOADABLE SOLUTIONS and EXAMPLES. And better file type handling in Drambo between "Racks",
"Instruments" and (what?) "Projects".
not the same in my opinion
drambo’s euclidean sequencer is fantastic and i use it a lot. but different UIs and designs naturally lead to different techniques and strategies. drambo’s step sequencer is not that much different from your general piano roll, but both push you to slightly different behavior and conceptualization and therefore to different results.

As a workaround you can shift the key up 3 semitones from the key you actually want to play.
It does bother me though when people leave Minor Pentatonic out, or only give you the option of "Blues" scale rather than minor pentatonic.
The things that make this a no brainer for me is the immediacy of having a Euclidean sequencer on tap without having to load modules into another host app, and the fact that Paul's apps are usually fairly efficient.
Once Paul's had a chance to monetise this particular AUv3, I'd love to see the component parts end up in NuRack as it would be fun to customise things to see what can be cooked up.
Interesting one to play with, I like the feeling of semi-randomness despite adding all the notes myself.
You can hack a chord in by adding a note at position (events + 1) and then shifting the notes left or right. I don’t think this is intended behaviour though so don’t rely on it sticking around Edit: Doesn’t sound the chord though.

This looks really cool. I actually love all 4pockets apps no matter the complaints people have with the previous UI, they're all bloody brilliant, but does anyone else feel 'all set' with the apps they have already? If I was new to the ipad and building an app library this would be an instabuy. Paradigm shifts like Loopy2 are basically the only things left I'm willing to consider adding to my bloated app list. I mean 4pockets apps alone I already have more sequencers than I can even remember.
