  • That VCS3 looks so good.

How is it that some companies can get the chips but others can’t? It’s not like the whole world of hardware synths etc has ceased production.

Some chips are in short supply, others not, plus supply lines are fractured so ordering isn’t as straightforward as it once was; might take weeks out months where it used to take hours or days to get what you needed…

That’s probably part of the problem, but it’s likely to also be them announcing things way before they’re ready to produce them. Remember how long it took the Crave to become available after announcement, and that was before there was any talk of chip shortages?

  • Until they can deliver, we might have spent enough time with better virtual alternatives 😊

iVCS3 is great btw and no more difficult to use than the hardware.

I loved my Monotribe but you can hardly find them under $250-$300 now. Will definitely be getting at least this one.

Same here. Actually I ended up getting something else back then. I think it was the Kaossilator (that was seing shortage and I snagged one of the last pink ones on my region) and the 3 monotrons. Then I never saw a Monotribe except with ridiculous used prices. And the no drum shaping ended up bothering me. So i'm hoping the Hiro Tribe will have more tweaks on that department

So - reading between the lines - you don’t believe there’s a chip shortage? You reckon that certain manufacturers are deliberately not releasing their products for us to buy?

  • I would assume their supplier is really specific to allow them to buy in bulk for cheap to keep their prices so low. I wish their supplier would stock up though cos I want those little baby synths.

I have personally been able to find any chip I have needed but I also don’t buy them in bulk to manufacture synths.

Indeed. But “no more difficult” means insanely hard! 😂
This is something to analyze… if you spend 10€ on an amazing app like IVCS3 you get frustrated and give up easily if you can’t make it sound like you want it to. If you spend 100€ on the same thing but in a hardware enclosure, you don’t give up and make it yours.
Not just me, right?. I guess it’s both the price and the hardware factor.
Price: you want to make something out of a 100€ investment whereas the app is the price of a beer.
Hardware: I’d say it’s the biggest factor. You want to control the machine sitting in front of you. With actual knobs you feel a sort of physical challenge to control the thing.
I just love IVCS3, it’s very special and I feel it sounds like no other app, but it’s so hard. I’ve watched quite a few videos but I can’t grasp that matrix thing. I’d get the hardware for sure.

  • Any chinks of light anywhere? A tiny morsel of news per chance? It’s all so quiet at this end.

  • Still on the supply chain issues. Too bad they can’t source elsewhere

  • Is there still not a whisper on these items? Everything else seems to be in full swing.

  • Hahahaha! coming soon! Look at the OP date...
At this point I'm pretty sure Behringer is on the road to bankruptcy

For Behringer, soon = 3-4 years.

It's probably a strategy that I don't understand. They have announced more hardware synths that never saw the day of light than they have synths on sale.

  • No sign of these devices yet. I thought they were getting released in the summer?

I am also waiting on these. A couple of them seem pretty cool to add to my setup.

  • Into July and still nothing.

I’ve got my Pro 800 to quell my GAS with the Solina arriving soon, I also got a side order of Roland S-1.

The S1 looks really good. I’m quite tempted.

I don’t ever remember them hitting a release date anywhere close to their prediction. As with all their stuff, you probably just have to be (extremely) patient.

It’s a really cool synth, sounds fantastic nicely implemented with extras over SH-01a, just lacking Midi Din, but that’s fine, given it’s size.
