Just storing this here, I could do with a research grant for this 😁

Just wait until Cagney and Garland appear in the latest blockbuster.

If I wasn't already busy, I'd be getting one of these AI's to make a single entity from those two just to see what it came up with, wild future of worlds await us - that film / book 'The Congress' is a great exploration of that kind of future...

  • Been trying to get my name in the lights……. Finally did. 😁

  • Oh, cool! What did you use for input?

  • Currently the only thing multiplying faster than AI generated images are the AIs that generate them.

New apps for sure but I think someone said they just dropped in Stable Diffusion which is open source.

I liked an idea I came across re this stuff which is that these text prompts are ‘casting spells’, they are incantations which bring these beautiful/weird/horrifying things into being.

Fast forward the AI human interface a century or so and we are all spellcasters, creating and living in seamless augmented realities, via the neuro-implanted third eye/recording angel/interface we all are given at birth, where virtual imagery and actual sight are seamlessly blended together, and symbolic architectures conjured out of the air before you enact complex real-world effects upon matter itself, drawing upon vast communal engines of creation and limitless power.

You speak the spell, addressed to your personal AI Daimon, pace Stephenson and Pullman, and a rune, visible, sketched in the air before you, calls sub routines, exerting powerful physical effects at the atomic level:

    You sketch the rune [BUILD]

    You speak the key phrase:

“Daimon, BUILD me a bicycle” and Lo! an actual physical one materialises before you…

    Then…

    “Daimon, BUILD me a gun…”

The tools for the hit are made ready…

An audacious crime, with an ultimate penalty for failure: excommunication. Your third eye blinded, condemned to live forever only in three physical dimensions, only in meatspace, only within wetware…

Or, ‘reality’, as it used to be known.

If you have not listened to Terrence McKenna I am sure you would like many of his talks.

@AudioGus : Ha! Never heard of him before, just skimmed his Wikipedia entry now following your prompt.

Interesting guy! Going to have to check his talk ‘Psychedelics in the age of intelligent machines’. That, and his stuff about ‘self replicating machine elves’ sounds like they could slot into a softwave cyber noir about technological spell casters, psychedelic shamen, and a corporate conspiracy murder plot… our protagonist, a gender fluid caster from a multi parent family in the slums of Bogotá… ayahuasca, and the influence of the ancient animal spirit gods will be a key plot component, obviously.

Try this: Their tech casting skills are augmented by the family shamanic inheritance, enabling them through consorting with the animal gods to illegally access much more casting juice than the monthly government stipend allows.

On one such excursion to converse with the gods, though, they witness in the Other Place some elements of the grand conspiracy, and the final threat it poses to the ancient occult systems of power which predated the Other Place, and now only hides within it, as the primeval forest strongholds have long since been ploughed up and exploited by the Mults which built the Other Place and now dominate the continent from New LaPaz… a renegade Mult executive, a Final Rune, a murdered courier, a lost underground Mayan city, and a 10,000 year old prophecy on the verge of becoming true…

Caught between realities, our protagonist must fight to get back, to save themselves: and to save the world(s)…

Putative title: Random Acts Of Magic

My goodness! All this and you never heard of McKenna. At one time this would have impossible but I guess nowadays this stuff is out there from a lot of sources. Anywho, his 2012 Timewave stuff was an unfortunate dive into pseudoscience quackery, worth skipping any of that imho, but his other imaginative musings are certainly worth it.

  • Mm. Probably is. I thought I’d just made it up now! :)

  • When we now talking AI - have you guys seen/used Citrus AI Photo Enhencer?

    Awesome app to sharpen pictures!

Check this example I’ve done - took an random extremly blurry picture on the net, ten seconds later I had an sharp pictures of him! Magic!!

Another example - an idol card from the 1950’s of a very famous guy, Lennart Hyland:

I gave it a go earlier with an old photo of my granddad, there might be some interpolation going at at some point in the process, but it’s doing so much more; it seems to identify textures and features, then clone them in, though from the understanding I’ve been given as to how these things work, that’s more a photoshop analogy. These things render them from noise, using their knowledge base as a way to splice towards what is the most ideal solution it can find, kinda like unbiased rendering does for physics and light, these things do for a massive field of image data…

These are pretty amazing images. Would be interested in the prompts you provided.
    Especially 1 and 3. Thanks.

  • A co worker was interested in this but didn’t know what she was looking at.
She say’s “I’m from Nebraska. That means Artificial Insemination to us.”

For me Citrus AI is magic!

This is a closeup of my granddad taken 1924 - pretty good!

  • @Ben

    1 was "astral projection + hD + fine detail + broken + shattered + listless + wide angle + octane render + vibrant + parallel + cyclical"

    3 was "inside out brain + hd + bizarre + 3d render + symetrical + parallel"

  • Yet another example of image enhancer by AI - a closeup of me taken 1965…

Excellent use, I suspect it is used by Cosmologists to fill in fuzzy data.

I find all of these images disturbing and hellish. Even the more benign ones are somehow disturbing. I have no ideological beef with AI; this kind of art is just engendering a very weird vibration for me. Even when it’s good.

I’m absolutely with you, there is something that is not “good”, it bring something that not belong to this world and I deeply feel shouldn’t be here

I love them but lots of them do have this dark, dystopian type look to them.

  • @Krupa said:
I wouldn’t say hellish myself, more disquieting and ominous, sinister in some ways perhaps. It’s interesting that they seem to share this quality no matter the subject. I wonder if the matter of ‘soul’ could be invoked in the discussion of them. (ghost in the machine style rather than Old Testament religions). Is a machine making images going to be able to create anything invoking joy for instance?

    Well said.
