Oooooh, I see. But who is that? I gotta make something weird like that, love it

Makes some machines, like a "tetra"?
Sorry, i keep editing this. So a synth design legend. I shall study

No worries, you are not alone. I will join the cause! Just PM me when needed. I'm a sucker listening through sound banks anyway, also love to categorize. We could use charts like these ones:

I thought you might perhaps volunteer, given your previous comments. i just didn't want to put you on the spot. And thanks for those charts. I've seen similar, many years back. But these seem even more useful (Always good to be able to distinguish one's HONK from one's HUM ;) ).

But when it comes to categorising presets (and this presumes we get an official go-ahead), I'd assume it might work out better, at least for the dev(s), to follow the scheme shown for the 'Poseidon' browser. Would likely make it easier to transfer to other products. Dev's call, really. The only necessary differences for a full 'Tera Pro' browser would be a way to (de)select for the inclusion/exclusion of owned IAP, in any particular search.

This would be a more official approach. So far it seems to be something under consideration, but no doubt not a huge priority.

The other way to approach this is in more of an unofficial manner.

We could categorise everything in a format appropriate for Harry etc. should they at some point decide to use it. But at the same time as categorising we could perhaps re-save/'Save As' each preset to our own folder substructure within the main menu, which is simple to do. This way, we're just duplicating presets which should in no way break previous project compatibility. And with appropriate prefixes and/or suffixes it'll be possible to use the search functionality with better accuracy.

I do have an idea for a structure and naming convention that should make it very easy to get to the types of sounds being looked for. Will test it out in Teraverse to see if it works.

Again..All of this presumes that doing this and sharing it won't be forbidden.

    Thanks again :)

You can't transfer those charts even if you want. Those should be for rough guidance only, for us to be on the same page for certain terms and maybe inspiration. You are right, Harry will make framework and official guidance.

Now is the time for you and the rest of the community that wished for advanced patch management to step up and help design structure for keywords and patch management with ideas.

You started this so it’s on you how will be best to manage all input from the community, whatever method you choose I will do my best to comply.

Many thanks for the list. Definitely a lot of options there.

Perhaps we can keep the conversation going by 'pm', for the moment. If we can manage to get a working proposition together, we could update the thread?

I guess @VirSyn's To-Do list is like 30 min. just scrolling through. ;) So when or if that patch framework ever happens we will be ready!

    :)

good guess, but I need to cross read to get this tempo :p
But anyway, please keep your spirit, I will need your help then. And a new patch management simply has to come anyway...

Improved patch management would be fantastic. The ability to add "Favorites" and to reliably add patches to the right folders without having to move them (nearly every time) would be a real time saver.

And apropos of nothing, is there a chance you could add (to your list of two million things to do) macOS AU plugin validation for those few plugins which are still problematic?

(This from the plug-in manager in Logic Pro for macOS)

@VirSyn when selecting Custom wave in the main oscillators I don’t see the partials editor. Is this a known issue?

Edit: never mind! I misunderstood the manual

  • @VirSyn really lovin Tera Pro. Since you added iPhone support, it has a regular spot in my Loopy Pro template.

Particularly loving the legacy presets. Some great sounds in there to play around with.

One minor issue I’ve found is that I can’t find a way to close the dialog where you pick a modulation source…

This is fine if I’m picking something new, but if I want to cancel and go back, I can’t see a button for that.

    i miss that too

  • @VirSyn Having an issue with Tera Pro in latest Ableton Live. Getting a blank window after loading the plugin. Standalone is ok. It was working fine previously.

Thanks. I don’t even have any of the iaps yet and this synth is already a monster. Perfect companion to Buttersynth.

Forgive me if this has been discussed before. I couldn't find it.

How would one program a delayed vibrato in Tera Pro? Does it involve using an ADSR to modulate an LFO?

i was to quick, there's no delay in the lfo section.
yes, you have to trigger the vibrato lfo with a delayed envelope.
    i try that now.

  • lfo. you can give it a delay.

I must be missing something obvious. I don't see a delay in the LFO submenu.

you can modulate lfo level with a envelope, and this envelope got a delay

Thanks - I'm still very new to Tera Pro - how do I make use of the file? I looked in Tera Pro and didn't immediately see a way to import it.

  • Finally got some time to really mess around with Tera Pro. Just a freestyle, playing with the cutoff. Maybe this one turns out into something worth mastering.

Can’t figure out how to save presets, it does save but can’t see them anywhere, only when I search. Also cpu spikes sometimes, even when lowering the voices. Some little hick ups, but the sound is fantastic. Will soon add the FM.

You probably saved them in the currently selected folder. Use the ‘move’ option from save dialog to move them to the ‘User’ folder.

Song is fantastic, I always admire the people composing in ApeMatrix. 🤩

I successfully saved a preset in the user folder. I did a restart and it was there :)

Love Tera Pro, but don't love the patch management. Patches often won't save where you think they will. Would be nice if there was a bit more standardization among developers regarding patch selection, favoriting, moving, folder creation, etc.

Maybe there needs to be a voluntary organization for plugin developers acting as a best practices group?

  • Might be the other TeraPro thread where ppl were coming together and suggesting ways to categorize presets, and the Dev seems good at giving the ppl what they want.

Harry is aware of the situation. Once you select the User folder everything works fine. I sympathize with small developers and I understand the pressure and issues they have. 😇

Yeah, I meant nothing malicious by the comment. A developer cannot be an expert on all things, even those who've been playing at the top of their game for decades. ;)

  • Tera Pro just updated to 2.0.0

Ok only minor things, but I ran out of numbers and therefore - tada - this is version 2.0.0

    • New workflow for preset saving, no more worries about where the preset gets saved. It gets saved in the folder you are currently in.

    • Fixed problem of "black window" on Apple Silicon and various hosts

    • strange crash with multi envelope fixed
