My son confiscated my Sennheiser HD560S headphone for his gaming, so I have the strong wish to buy a Grado 325x open headphone as a replacement. I think the Grado is a nice X-mass present for myself this year.
And I use a 1st generation Apogee Jam for Ipad, and for some reason I have gas for the UAD Volt 1, that would be a nice small piece of mobile gear. But this probably doesn't change the quality of the incoming signal (raw electric guitar signal is not so demanding and the Jam is pretty good already), and not a real step up from the Ipad headphone port (mobile use) or the Audioguest Dragonfly (behind a desk with usb hub) I use.
So both are a lesson in self control and ignoring the little voice in my head....
And I see these wishlists with synthesizers, I never have gas for hardware synths, I can´t play keys properly so I don´t need that stuff. But there is one synth I have a desire for, a real Juno 60 or 106. That is a synth I can fully understand.
That’s cool!
GAS has absolutely zero to do with self control! 😂
😆 ain’t that the truth. I love plugins but gear is so much fun. I have had fun looking at my gear like plugins, it’s a weird dichotomy.
Agreed.
Yup.
Well, I was thinking of getting a Korg Drumlogue and a Behringer Pro-800
Come on mate, if you’re really going for the Elektron collection, you can’t overlook the mono machine 😆
MPC One. It will be my first hardware. Been making music on iPad for nearly a decade. What do you think? Will I dig it? Big BM3, Drambo, and Koala fan.
Mpc one is a great choice. Awesome bit of kit and does everything. I sold mine but just because it was similar to my daw and controller set up and not what I wanted
That said I can see myself buying one back one day. It really is great and the updates keep making it better
The biggest key is to just embrace the workflow, warts and all. Don’t start trying to compare it to the apps you already know well, that just leads to frustration.

In no particular order:
Tascam Model 12
Casio Privia PX s1100 (Red)
Jackson SLAT7 MS with Fishman Fluence Moderns and a new nut
Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT2MO, yeah, the orange ones
sE Electronics sE2200
I bought the M1 Mac mini early on and got the 16GB ram but got the small HD (doh!) so, OWC Thunderbolt hub and OWC 1TB Envoy Pro SX. I'd love to get the 4TB one, but damn!
Subwoofer to go with my Yamaha HS5's
small venue PA (haven't picked one yet)
Various cable upgrades
A couple of stand upgrades
Acoustic treatments for my studio room
I concur, empty your cup!
Orba 2 $149.
I was gifted the Orba (1) as a gift and it makes a useful Bluetooth controller/sequencer.
The 2 adds sequencer ram, quantization, live sample import.
I have been into compressors the lately.
I found myself wondering this week if my wife would be upset if I took out a loan to buy a Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor.
Yes. Yes she would.
Would be awesome to see the software version on iOS.
On a side note to OP, I am on my second Blofeld desktop unit. It is true that they can have issues, but I think it can vary widely from unit to unit. Maybe depending on the year they were manufactured? My current Blofeld is solid for about a year now and it is an older model. None of the encoder issues frequently mentioned (knock on wood).
I also read online that some folks have issues with volume output being low, but I have hearing damage from mine. My own fault, using the random patch generator can be dangerous through headphones fyi.
They can get obnoxiously loud, and there are many parameters that affect volume, not just the main output volume. The filter drive type really has an impact on overall volume in my experience, for example.

Don't do this to me, please. I'm trying hard to fight with addiction.
This is pretty much the same as mine, though you may have added the swarm now 😅
Disclaimer, I did use a ten percent off thing that Juno sent me yesterday to preorder the Westie, a wee treat for working so hard in the heat…
Currently my GAS is on low (badoom-tish…), having succumbed and bought a Mavis, but I have a simmering urge for a Eurorack case and some modules.
Problem is, I’d really like it to have a split personality, so a) it’d expand my current hardware, so chiefly utilities and effects, and b) it’d operate standalone as a portable rig. I love my Moog semi-modulars, but in their own cases and rack they’re not really portable. I do like them how they are now, though. They fit nicely in my small studio space.
Hmm. So there my GAS sits, on the back burner for the moment. Though, disturbingly, I’ve found myself contemplating a Theremini on occasions recently. A theremin I might actually be able to play!
Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhh, noooooooooooooo!
this would probably be my #1, but honestly don’t get me started. I want everything mentioned above + the Polyend tracker, and on and on.
Just set you profile to only display the categories you “follow” and you can miss this discussion completely. But before you do what would you buy if you found a bundle of money in the seat cushions of a second hand sofa.
True story: my brother got our grandmother’s car when she died. He found $1200 in the trunk in cash and bought himself a Martin 12 String. I was a bit upset the sweet old woman left me nothing but memories.
I would have bought more drums and cymbals.
My sister would have bought her own piano.
Just waiting for my busy season to end……
Then…oh yes, my precious….
😜
Here’s a question for those of us here that work towards “finishing songs:” after scratching your GAS itch, how long do you find before you actually start creating again?
I’ve had a very indulgent three months (Red Panda Raster 2, UA Volt 476, Novation Launchpad Pro, TB MBC, AudioModern Playbeat and Chordjam, Looom) and I have spent hours exploring each of my new toys, but I haven’t actually completed anything since before I ordered the Raster because I’m spending all my time watching tutorials, twisting knobs, looking for optimal use cases, etc.
I’m curious because up until just a few years ago, my impulse was always to buy something new and immediately start writing songs with it. But now I feel more pressure to “understand the complexities.” What are your thoughts?
I tend to watch videos about new gear and read the manual before I buy something, that way I can hit the ground running. But certainly nothing wrong just taking the time to have fun and learn something new after you get it too.
I am kicking in open doors right now, but isn´t this the true essence of the Gear Acquisition Syndrome? You wonder a lot about gear that helps you being a better musician, and then you can´t resist and buy stuff, and nothing has changed in the end.
I think a GAS list is something different than a gear shopping list or a dream list.
But hey, I am telling nothing new here when it comes to GAS so I shut up.... :-)
HUMOR ON (you know like "The Onion")
This forum has lost all sense of it's mandate:
If you would like to get back the forums true purpose:
begging developers to add your pet feature
Please help stop turning this forum into a place where like minds can agree to disagree and everyone fails into line about focusing on making developers the true enemy of the (music production) people.
On shit... Did I post this on the GAS thread! You people need to go back to where you came from... NAMM.

BTW, @Svetlovska et al. I have a Lyra-8. It took a while but once I disabused myself of the notion that I was ever going to control it, it’s been great.
The only problem is that I live in fear that someday it will come to life and kill me while I sleep.
