Yes please. More presets, maybe Patchstorage page, maybe a preset randomize.
Yea I’ve never heard you speak like that before, which is why I was immediately intrigued. Not to mention your sound design skills, free preset packs, and forum contributions give your statements a little more weight. At least to me, and apparently others as well. You rock @Spidericemidas
I wonder if this will replace simple synths for me once I learn it.
If I want a custom sound I usually go to Zeeon, Poison 202 or even GrooveRider because they are fast and straightforward.
This seems to have that potential too for the variety of operator modes and quick mods.
I’ll say this: I have BLEASS Omega and don’t find the preset randomizer very useful. Results are inaudible as often as not. I think maybe FM doesn’t lend itself well to randomization.
When you have 1 zillion sounds possible, the odds that the random patch that you generate sounds good are slim IMHO.
This seems correct. FM sounds can radically shift to unusable with the slightest tweaks sometimes.
It’s true. Maybe 1 in 10 Omega randomizations is viable. And yet, all my most interesting Omega patches started from randomizations. I just keep hitting the dice button until i get something Inspiring 🙂
Too much complexity in Additive/FM can quickly move to the most complex waveform, noise. Feedback will get you there very quickly.
Is it possible somewhere to modulate the AMP/ Master Volume with LFO? I haven't found any solution and started to hook up every single OSC to the LFO1 - I am pretty sure there is another solution
The LFO on each operator (left of the envelope) directly modulates its output for tremolo or gate type effects.
It's enough to use it on the last operator in the 'operator chain'.
Or pick an LFO and modulate the needed outputs with the same LFO in the Matrix.
It all depends on your operator configuration (for example if you feed two or more operators thru a filter it's enough to modulate the filter modules output).
It is a deep and complex synth so it's good to have a 'picture' of what one needs to accomplish.
Cheers!
Excited to join here, Satoshi nailed it perfectly. I think It's his best synth and one of the most interesting synths on iOS in a while. I got Omega, ID 700 and Reason Algoritm but none of them gave me some pleasure to work with. Very easy to input and rewarding. Add here proper wavefolder (I know it hardly coming, but man can dream), more snappy curves, spice it up with randomization engine (like Reason Algoritm) and it will be perfect blend of west coast sound palette and classy UI.
Hey Samu, thanks. This matrix seems to be the secret I need to grasp. At the end of the day I am chasing something like this
But In this case I was really only trying to make the sound pulsating with the LFO to the main output
Super quick starter for you to tweak further on...

It's not a 100% replica of the video but in the same direction
Away from Nambu rn but I am curious to give it a spin later this day. you rock. thanks for your time effort to help me! Deeply appreciate that, mate!
All this excited talk and watching the various YouTube vids on this has given me a thirst for it! Is the current price introductory or the rrp? Only just got Lagrange so would like to respect it and give it some time first
Caved and bought. Yeah, totally awesome, worth the 15 USD
intro price indeed. afair, till the end of August.
Thanks @Dante777. I will have to cave just like god did
Lagrange seems lower in price now, used to be around €12, but now it’s the same price as the other Icegear synths.
The IceGear dev told me that Nambu is actually his family name.
Hype aside, there's something special about this synth. It really sucks me in, and surprises me each time. Little changes in parameters can create huge changes to the sound. It's very fun to program
I do wish there was an overall volume control so there was a way to quickly change the overall output volume with one knob (or modulation) … or have I overlooked it?
Overall Volume is above the ARP button.
(Lower left corner).
In the AUv3 tap the grey thing at the left side to bring out the same thing with arp and volume.
Thanks!
I'm generally a preset guy without a lot of free time. As much as I love Icegear stuff, I just can't commit myself to getting this based on all the excitement about operators and matrices when it has 40 presets that are reportedly pretty uninspiring. @Spidericemidas is tempting me quite a bit as I always love his work, but maybe I'd be even more inclined if I knew there was an AB Forum patch fest in the works...? (Been a while!)
Lagrange and their 3 FX apps are all currently on sale. I think they are $2 off each, at least Lagrange is. I’m guessing this is due to the release of Nambu, but not sure.
I'd love to see an ABF patch fest for this too! I'm planning more than one bank for this beast as there's just sooo much scope for sound designs. But, it'll take me quite a while as I only get a few hours a day on the iPad with my schedule the way it is these days.
With your reputation and skills, it's a shame you cannot dedicate all your time to sound design. You're like the Beethoven of sound designers.
@NeuM Yeah I'd love to, if it could only earn me a decent enough living. I could do much better and more designs if I had more time.
Microbiology is not my passion, but it's guaranteed to cover the bills adequately!
Agree that more presets are needed, but a more useful preset browser, such as a tag cloud or table to organize the presets, is a prerequisite.
That would go a long way toward making Nambu a go-to workhorse synth.
