While I do like the multi-stage envelopes in Nambu I do miss a 'curve' option. The envelopes feel pretty linear...

Loving this synth so far. Here’s a little something for your ears:

Nice and chilled with a Daniel Avery vibe which I like 😉

    Love it! Wicked video too.

What app did you use for drums?

  • Seems to have lots of Sy77/Sy99! in it!

    very interesting

  • Can't help it Nambu inspires me...
...and yes it's nice even for a 'chip music addict'.

    Here's a video clip...
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/u252ducwpeynrzh/melody.mp4?dl=0

And here's the preset for those who've got Nambu already...
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/69tz4pmo2ivrt7e/melody.Nambu_snd_pack?dl=0

Needless to say, this one is ticking a lot of boxes and is pretty darn inspiring too!
(I Nambu has great potential for another AB Patch Creation Frenzy).

    Cheers!

Agreed. Very deserving of an ABF patch fest.

I have had a shit ton of problems with the following:

Saving tweaks of nambu presets in the AUM menu. Then often when i choose a new preset from the AUM menu, nambu freezes and crashes. I try to reopen another instance of Nambu, but i get the endless spinning circle and need to restart AUM and restore last session. Anyone else getting issues with this? It's driving me bonkers and I'm not sure if it is an AUM problem or a Nambu problem. It seems more likely to happen if a key on the AUM keyboard is latched while changing, but has also happened without any notes being played. Have mailed the dev about this. If anyone else has had the same issue, please also contact him.

Damn that sounded so thick man…..

  • Funnily enough, I just sold my SY99 and now here’s this.

  • Needs a randomization button!

Someone had to say it. Not game changier without the dice button!

Am I dumb, or blind, or both, or there os really no FEEDBACK ? I mean oscillator feedback, literally one of crucial cornerstone features of every good FM synth....

LOL can't believe i didn't saw it 😂🤣 my only excuse is it was late evening and i was tired like shit 😂🤣 Thanks

    @Spidericemidas
I'm voting this as iOS synth app of 2022. I highly doubt anything else will come along to change my mind for the remainder of 2022.

It's very cool synth but save your first place for Butter Synth if it goes out this year ;-)

Maybe, but I was not that impressed by the beta...
...It tries too hard to be 'everything at once' without any clear focus/direction :(
(Could not even use 4 different samples at once since there was only one sample oscillator back then).

But yeah, that's just me as there will never be something that is 100% perfect...
...If I find something that is 100% 'perfect' I've failed...

    Cheers!

Pfft that is one generic synth. And the logic with some of the editing/UI choices, in this day and age, where there are so many options to be able to immediately discard something that doesn’t work how you want and still be able to find a suitable replacement, is off-putting. And most importantly, the oscillators and billion filters don’t sound anything special. It is also butt ugly and looks like 2006.

  • I hope this gets sample import that would take it to the top. DX7 sysex support would be nice because then you modify existing patches here.

  • As suggested above, they have a whole series of videos for Nambu on their YouTube channel which are worth watching:

Many thank @LeeB @Toastedghost I’m using PlayBeat 3 with the Venus Theory drum kit.

Brilliant. Have to have a look at that kit

I doubt it because the description states that the app will not:

“NAMBU is not compatible with vintage FM synthesizers and you cannot import those patches into NAMBU.”

Besides KQ Dixie and Dexed already do a fine job of importing SYSEX!

Oh yeah, but doesn't hurt to ask and dream. 😄

  • This thing is killer. One point to note - no velocity sensitivity. The app 'velocity filter' can fix that though

With just the right ADSR settings on the patches, that may not be a problem for most sounds.

But you can use the two velocity mappers and add them as modulation sources for any parameter that can be modulated?!
I think that is the intended purpose for these two velocity mappers to add velocity based dynamics to a sound...

Yeah, I think Doug from the Sound Test Room briefly covered that in his video.

    ???

    It does have velocity sensitivity.

In addition to the velocity influenced envelopes mentioned by others there is a Velocity knob for the operators.

Btw, there is also something in settings you can use to change the behaviour of the pop up windows

What is this setting? I couldn't find it

It’s the 2nd from the bottom choice in settings ‘display as pop up window’ - just turn it off
