It’s got absolutely nothing to do with accepting your reasoning Simon, you’re arguing against a dictionary definition. If it really bothers you that much, take it up with Merriam-Webster.

“ it is probably some man-made "UFO" device, not from outer space. Probably military.”

If that’s the most likely explanation, you’d need at least some evidence as proof. But the military observers on the military base haven’t found any, and neither have any of the other investigators, so it is by any definition ‘unexplained’.

Following your suggestion I had a look at Merriam-Webster. They made no mention of needing "proof" when using the word "probably". That is something you have made up.

    They said:

-insofar as seems reasonably true, factual, or to be expected : without much doubt
    -is probably happy
    -it will probably rain

    No mention of "proof".

If one says that something is "definitely true", then you would need proof...probably.

When the definition of probably is “ seems reasonably true, factual, or to be expected : without much doubt”, your claim that “it is probably some man-made "UFO" device, not from outer space. Probably military” is going to require some kind of proof to back up that statement.

    Otherwise it’s invalid.

Unless you can categorically prove there are no ‘living beings from other planets, galaxies, universes or dimensions’ in existence in the entire universe (or multiverse), then they’re as viable an explanation for what has been reported as ‘secret military tech’ that still hasn’t been used 40+ years later.

    What about the Tooth Fairy...?

You can't categorically disprove The Tooth Fairy so she could be in the frame too.

I’m just wasting my time here, aren’t I.

I'd love to continue our friendly and pedantic discussion but if I do reply I fear I will be branded "a troll".

You posted a false statement, I disagreed and explained why it was false. You then argued against an actual dictionary definition.

If you find that ‘pedantic’, fine, but in this day and age of fake news I personally think it’s important to do so when something that isn’t fact, is presented as something that is.

That's not how I see it, but perhaps we should drop it so as to not upset other people.

What happened to this thread is the human hubris and arrogance of thinking we know everything about everything RIGHT NOW and nothing new will ever be learned. It’s literally the most moronic stance one could take. Might as well just stop living if you think like this, you’re already dead inside.

    Did anyone say that?

If someone starts a thread like this they surely know they will get believers but also non-believers commenting.

    Deleted. Just don’t care 🤷‍♂️

The thread title is "Anyone into the WOO here? UFOs etc?". It's very clear. If you're not into that discussion why are you in this thread?

This is true, I don’t think we should fear questioning of data, experiences or beliefs but when people frame them as absolute impossibilities when we all really don’t know how much more there is to existence is in my opinion really shortsighted.

Over many years people have often been ridiculed for investigating the ‘unknown’ on many occasions they have been proven correct for investigating. In the face of such evidence the prevailing viewpoint has often gone to extreme lengths to uphold their viewpoint, we should always try to learn from history and be humble before the great unknowns.

I totally agree, that’s the problem today that people take modern science as gospel, when it’s an ongoing discovery.

The good thing about modern science is that it is more than happy to change its opinion and update the science books when new things are proved. Unlike religion.

I think a few prominent scientists would disagree, they have run the gauntlet of ridicule and ostracism for daring to venture into this kind of subject matter, Brian Keating, Eric Weinstein, John Mack to name but a few.

They might, but it doesn't change the fact that science generally updates science textbooks as new info is proved over time.

True, but it often needs a paradigm shift although a similar shift happens within many religions and philosophies.

Watched the WOO flick - very entertaining and interesting. Thank you for the link.

But not many answers. Yes, there's weird stuff happening but is it advanced Earth tech we don't know about or men from Mars? Will we ever be told?

Fair play for watching and commenting. 👍

I believe more people are looking into these events now, including those in scientific fields and positions of power and there appears to be some momentum, so I'm hopeful that at least some answers truth comes out in the next few years.

    Whatever that may be.

I fear that if it is aliens then they won't reveal that due to "national security".

And if it isn't aliens but military then the same outcome.

    Unfortunately, I have to agree.

It's not going to be handed out.... it's going to need leaks and whistleblowers.

Or an alien ship to land in the middle of the Superbowl and the ETs walk around handing out candy bars on live TV.

They missed their chance with the Coronation in the UK last weekend.

If any alien civilisation came to earth and actually gave a thought for any of it’s inhabitants I don’t think they would be so brash as to just land and say “hello”.

Ah, yes, but as every smart person already knows, the aliens are already here. The Royal Family are all lizard people:

UFO alert at Gaziantep airport, Turkey.

    https://www.detailhaber.com/gaziantep-havalimaninda-ufo-panigi

According to the incident that occurred around 00:30 in Gaziantep, at an altitude of approximately 9,000 feet (2,743 meters), the cockpit crew of two passenger planes identified an unidentified object. The pilots reported the situation to the Gaziantep Air Traffic Control Tower. It was also confirmed by air traffic controllers that the unidentified object was present.

As a result of the incident, flights at Gaziantep Airport were halted. Some planes that were scheduled to land in Gaziantep were redirected to Şanlıurfa and Adana Airports. Since last night, a total of 26 flights from Gaziantep Airport, including 13 departures and 13 arrivals, have been canceled.
