Was waiting for the poly mode, great you did it! But now it’s 11.99 €. Never realized the (great) price was an intro price… I’ll pass until it’s on sale

Crap I didn’t know it was Intro either. I’m sure it’s probably still worth it but I should have grabbed it at $5 regardless. You snooze you lose I guess.

Update - yup $9.99 in the States.

    Or maybe I saved a fiver 😅

    Lol. Well played.

  • Great that we can now play chords with this. Thanks for listening!

  • The Red Rock Sound AUv3’s are absolutely dark horses. I have everything except the spectrum analyzer and they’re like the Tone Booster and Audio Damage stuff, big performance for small money. The drum loop they have playing to test the app before you buy the full IAP isn’t the best representation of the color these things can provide. On acoustic guitar, piano and vocals the EQ’s can totally shape a sound and add personality.

I absolutely love the Fab Filter Q3 for surgical treatments and adding subtle sheen to subs and the master, but for making a guitar or snare drum funky or livening up a shitty sample these RRS plugs are stunning for the price. I just bought this analog synth and it’s certainly got its own thing going on too.

Fantastic update, the scaling works well, and the 4 voice mode was on my wishlist, lots to tweak and explore. *app store review has been updated as well!
    Thank you @RedRockSound

I agree on the quality of RRS apps. Good, even excellent sound, perfect GUI for sound engineers (every parameter has the right description and size), very good price.

Since many RRS apps haven’t received enough reviews, I thought it was a good idea to write one.

For those who are wondering: is this different from what I already have? Comparison of real Minimoog and real Polivoks:

    Lol. Well played.

Another saver here. If they were open about the intro price, I would have jumped right in. Oh well. I already have a lot of synths anyway

  • I went to see Quadros a few weeks ago, which is a high concept live show by the 2 guys from I Monster and 2 of their friends. The basic setup is that they have 8 classic synths on stage and randomly select one that each will play before the start of every track (balls are drawn from a bag) with the rest of the track played from a lathe cut 12".

The reason I mention it is that 2 of the synths they had on stage were the Polivoks and Minimoog Model D... and they genuinely sound nothing alike when they express their true character. The Polivoks has such a raw filter with so much grit and presence, whereas the Model D is way more refined and pleasant. I love the creamy bass sounds of the Moog, but the Polivoks was the star of the show for me.

  • As far as I can tell, in terms of specs, the soviet Aelita synth is more similar to the Minimoog and smoother sounding than the Polivoks. Still, it's its own thing. Check these tracks - all synth sounds are from the Aelita. (He also has done tracks with the Polivoks only). Simple but beautiful, very nice arrangement.

    Altavox Aelita tracks

I think it's naive to expect an iOS virtual analogue to nail all the character of the synth upon which it's modeled, Still, I got the iVoks despite not having opened the two other iOS emulations of analogue I have for a couple of years. And I do like it.

Great to hear someone else appreciate. These tracks enchant me. Thank you Altavox! - whoever you are, wherever you are....

"It has two special modes: the unison mode creates an unison-like effect on each oscillator (reducing the range as a tradeoff), and the strings mode creates a vibrato-like effect independent of the LFO."

1st example I hear: Track 1, flute sound at 57 secs.

  • T3 is my personal favorite...dub techno affecionados!

All his albums are more than worth listening to. What I like about his work is that he picks just one synth (seems all sovjet) and a rhythm machine (or the synth itself does the rythm), and he makes an entire album with just that set-up.

  • Just released on Desktop as well now
Picked it up for like 20 bucks intro price!

  • @RedRockSound have to say I do miss having an on-screen keyboard in standalone for quick pick-up-and-play.

Bought the unlimited IAP today, surprised the arp still plays constantly in stand-alone mode.

Please @RedRockSound consider making stand-alone playable, with patch saving for use in both AUv3 & stand-alone.

That’s the kind of Russian hardware I don’t mind showing up in town unannounced…

  • I have the free version and as an AU in GarageBand it’s quite tiny… when the full version is purchased is it larger?

I haven’t tried it in GarageBand but it should scale up if you open it full screen. You can also pinch to zoom gesture on the interface.

Got it… it’s a little wobbly but doable. Does the store at the top disappear with the full version?

I haven’t used it in GB but in AUM and other hosts I’ve tried the store isn’t visible unless you drag the arrow down to reveal the pull down menu. Otherwise it stays hidden. That’s still there in all the paid apps I have from them but it doesn’t get in the way of the UI and you wouldn’t even know it’s there until you drag it down. If you can’t hide it maybe it’s a GB issue.

Yeah I think it’s an iPhone deal… it’s hidden but when you try to make the screen bigger sometimes the shop drops down even if you aren’t really touching the arrows . I think it’s the small amount of real estate on the screen
