I like the app but I hope the updates continue cos it has a lot of potential
Bought this yesterday and have now set it up to work very nicely with a nanokontrol 2. Overall, I think it’s very good as it stands, with the possibility to be outstanding. The interface is easy to use and very attractive, and the functionality is already pretty good. It needs a few things, as per the roadmap, but is very usable now. I can see myself using this a lot. It makes transfers very easy between phone and ipad, too.
Nice to hear you’re enjoying it. I’m planning on buying this one soon as well.
What about multithreading/multiprocessing?
Cubasis still seems to be the only DAW/Auv3 host that‘s taking advantage of modern multicore devices.
On my M2 iPad Pro I can host and play simultaneously 10 instances of Tera Pro, 10 instances of Animoog Z, 2 instances of Moog Model 15 and 1 instance of Thermo (which is very CPU hungry) and a couple of FX.
That’s about 3 times more than in AUM. So I hope this will change soon. Developing Multithreaded Apps is not trivial, that’s why AUM still is not.
Updated. Lots of MIDI improvements. Midi out, Ableton Link. Global undo. Velocity on the keyboard. Excellent update.
A lot of midi implementation is just what this app needed. Excited for this one. I’ve been having lots of fun with it.
Has anybody tried the new version?
Can’t find much info
Does this have audio tracks or only MIDI?
Hi all, this is Matteo, developer of SAND. Thank you all for the discussion here.
I just published a short video with some of the new features in 1.1:
Here you can find the complete features list: https://getsand.app/release-notes/ and here the roadmap: https://roadmap.getsand.app
only MIDI for now, I'll start looking into audio clips in a few months
Hi Matteo
Thanks for the update, which is great. i am having a couple of issues with midi out, going through an irig midi interface to a Roland mc101. Doubled notes appear in the clips, one note on top of another. And I have experienced a couple of freezes of the screen.
Thanks for letting me know, I'll ask you some details via PM
Looks like a great update. Will be checking this out.
Thank you - looks great👍
Looks great!
That’s awesome to hear! You’ve done a great job on the app! It’s worked it’s way well into my workflow.
Not being negative but this app is more expensive than Beatmaker 3 and does a lot less? What’s the attraction?
Are you sure about that? BeatMaker 3 is about 25 quid iirc
I really like this sequencer…roadmap looks good too. Song mode delicious!
Is the number of paterns Per track limited to 12?
Wait what. I bought the app a while back but I remember it being no more than $7.99. Isn’t BM3 like $20+?
Also it’s a totally different workflow. BM3 is a beast but a lot to wrap your head around and does SO much. Sometimes it’s nice to have something more simple. And this is very good at what it does.
Yeah it's $9.99. Given the amount of work involved in making, maintaining and updating a daw, it is totally underpriced, if anything. And, as mentioned, the workflow etc is very much its own thing.
Ah maybe I bought it on sale because I think I got it for $4.99. Definitely worth the asking price, and considering the newest update, and what’s on the roadmap, $9.99 is a steal.
I actually think SAND fills a pretty unique market for what it does also. Just a simple, straightforward, midi sequencer. Kinda like AUM but for midi.
hoping it's not getting blown up too big
Thank you!
Question
Once I have set a midi clip and I can hear it playing
Can loopy pro see/ hear so that I can record to donut??
This app looks nice, would like to add it to my work flow
Yeah you can put loopy in the fx slot and record the clip.
@FordTimeLord
Thanks for the reply
Looks like I’m off to the App Store then
Last question
Does it have a song mode, can you chain the clips ??
Sorry for the questions
Still no quantize when recording?
