@SAND I was wondering if there's a way to simultaneously control two parameters from two different plugins at the same time. I don't think that external MIDI mapping of AUv3 parameters with MIDI learn is supported yet, isn't it? I was thinking of using a virtual controler (or a physical one) to control the filter cutoff in two plugins. Thank you!

like Ableton's macros I think? Not supported at the moment, will think about it

    Crash fest!

Edit: Tried to find the crash logs to send to developer but can't see that there are any, which are strange. Three crashes within minutes and no logs(!?)

    Moving on!

Thank you for taking the time to check for crash logs. Are you looking into "Settings.app > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data > Anything that starts with SAND" ?

If you don't see anything there it could be a memory issue, one thing you could try is to restart the device

  • Great updates!

  • so can controls be automated on the edit page. i noticed knob from a synth can be added at the bottom, but is it posssible to draw i. the automation?

  • New update today with song mode!

  • Just bought it. What a delight. Great fun and simple. Great composing tool. Instead of rabbit in the spotlight amongst all the different composing options I’m just going to use this. I encourage everyone who has bought to leave a review. There are only 3 reviews on the Australian App Store, one of which gave it a 1 star.

  • The song mode works very well, too. A very good app, visually very attractive and pleasant to work in.

  • Just bought SAND, nice app, but can not figure out how to add more clips! I’m stuck at 12 clips, am I missing something?

  • Echoing everyone here. It’s a really great app. I’ve had it since release I believe and the dev is very committed to improving it. Some of the things on the road map are great and it has potential to be one of the best hosts/creation tools on iOS.

  • Just fires this up for an hour
Took a few minutes to get with it, but now it’s jumped in to my top 5 apps
It’s quick to get things going and like the export options for making loops for loopy etc
Piano roll isn’t the best but that might just be me
And recording with the keyboard also a bit fiddly, but am on my iPhone so again might be me
Been a while since the last update, so fingers crossed new stuff drips through a bit quicker
    But am enjoying this
    Just my opinion

  • @Synthi
Read further back in the chat and noticed 12 being mentioned before
I haven’t really needed more than that , but also not treating this as a whole song creator
Just making loops then exporting, that’s how I am using this

    Thanks!
So its confirmed that 12 is the max number of clips!!? I´m afraid I´ll be requesting a refund... its way less than what I need... Min 48-64 clips per track...

48-64!? Are you conducting a massive orchestra or something? I highly suggest a computer as any iOS multitrack recorder/daw is going to get awfully erratic with that many tracks.

    CLIPS!! not tracks!!

ITOH, I managed to get that amount of tracks or something close working flawesly already 10 years ago with Auria in my old ipad air2 or maybe the ipad4

I just got Sand. I've been meaning to try it out for a while, just got it based on seeing recent comments.

I assume when you say "limited to 12 clips" you're talking about the 12 clips that appear whenever you create a new track.

Not sure if it's what you want, but using song mode seems to allow you to go way beyond 12 clip limit, e.g., I created 24 clips in a track for a song, sections A through X. Each of those can have midi recorded into them, or have one of the other clips on track copied into it. Song mode possibly adds some other behavior you might not want, but it seems to me you can definitely get beyond 12 clips per track.

Have you tried the song mode yet? Not sure I’d get a refund just for that.

  • Audition of the notes in the piano roll would be useful. Also and indication of the number of bars written over the clip in the tracks view.

  • I just bought SAND today, I am liking it so far. I don't generally use clip based MIDI apps but this seems like a good option to get ideas down quickly. I've had no real confusion, the UI is intuitive. I think this will be fun. Thanks again Audiobus Forum for turning me on to something good.

Sweet glad you’re enjoying it! I’ve been a user since day 1 (almost) and it’s crazy how far it’s come, and it’s only gonna get better. Check out the roadmap on the devs website. Once everything gets implemented I really believe this will be one of the top creation environments on iOS. It already is in a lot of way (for me that it).

  • 'sa wonderful app, which I got when it first come out, but am still really only getting to know it.

Anyone know if MIDIgates is compat with Sand? I can't track it down in any menu.

  • How does it compare to Atom?

Sand is a host, not an auv3 you load in aum or whatever!

  • Uh huh. Guess I’ll stick with Atom then. Thanks, Gav.

  • I never got Atom is it worth getting for someone that already has LK and Helium? I know people love it so idk what I’m missing lol

I almost never use it. The editor is very good if you want to edit a single sequence. If you want to switch between sequences or sequence multiple instruments, like LK clip launcher, I find it pretty cumbersome due to its modular nature.

Also, Atom only lets you edit notes.

Gotcha. I think I may be fine with that I have them. I generally like more creative/unique ways of sequencing anyway.

  • SAND is much more like BAM than Atom. I like the new song mode they have implemented.

  • Really like the simplicity of Sand, so intuitive, but I've run into a problem. Long-pressed the clip on track two, set it to 8 bars, and it always reverts to 2 bars when I arm and record. Track one did the same thing a couple of times, then behaved itself. Just me? Am I doing something wrong?
