I find it interesting, but 2 instances up all the cpu on my 1TB (16gb RAM). Isn’t there supposed to be a fix in the works? This issue prevents me from even thinking about using their other apps.

The latest update allows to change the maximum delay time which fixed the crashes.

Regarding performance, here is a screenshot of Jade Starr‘s How to App show on youtube:

Thanks for the head’s up. Testing it now….

EDIT: Set to 1sec max delay, still get 100% cpu overload in AUM. No crash, by the way, but intense crackling overload until I disable both instances. C’est la vie.

  • That's odd, which model are you using? Which DAW?

  • Here's a video of us testing it in AUM on a 2014 iPad Air 2 with only 2GB RAM. Two instances, 0.5s max delay each, DSP hits 38%

AUM settings: Buffer Size? Sounds like it could be that, being set to low.

  • Thanks for the responses. iPad Pro 2021, 1TB/16g ram. Running AUM outputting to loopy pro for recording. Fact is that I’m pushing this setup hard, but with 16g, why not? (iPadOS limitation, I know). The overload is an intermittent issue, usually after running it for an extended period. Disabling Magic Delay stops the crackling, reduces the cpu instantly. Unpredictable in a performance setting, so I just need to finesse the set-up and test extensively to find the right combo. Still have the desktop mentality—32g RAM on a MacBook Pro does indeed set unrealistic expectations. Buffer is 256.

A buffer of 256 may be too low depending on what else you have going on. Maybe post a demonstration to give a more complete picture of the context.

Going to bump it up to 512 and report back. Indeed, a lot going on.

Apple bundle pricing woes ! Note don’t buy at sale prices if looking for the bundle ! I own the other 2 magic apps.

  • Ah I missed the sale and never picked up magic pitch, poopers.

  • I’m getting a maxed out message as well - with only two instances? and only two Pure Acids along with it. DSP is only at 35%. I’m running it on an Air 4

  • Hey everybody,
I've been sending a couple of emails back and forth with @robosardine and he was able to run more than one instance of course. I'd like to share the results here:
Please make sure you open the plugin at least once after adding it so you can select a max delay time. You can provoke a crash under certain circumstances if you add more than one instance without opening any of them.
Unfortunately Apple doesn't allow a proper way to manage memory on iOS. All we can do is force users to pick a max delay time so they can check their limits. Hopefully this is going to improve in the future.
    Happy delaying!
