Big words in the description.... i always wanted something like this on iOS but not sure if it's really good. The price is not the lowest.

  • No audiobus ?

  • No sound demos on their site - and they are the people behind Jack from the look of it (explains the absence of Audiobus...).

  • Yep, no Audiobus but IAA. I also find no audio demos or even a you-tube video. I'm a bit aware of such apps now. If it's really good like in the description it will be worth the price....
We need some guinea pigs ;)

  • Well volunteered...

  • CMP Grand Piano is also from this Guy(s) and it sounds very good. If i could change it against Auria or Cubasis i would try it......

  • Hey that's a bargain compared to intro price for Different Drummer!

I can't say if the price is worth it, but to not release a demo video of any kind and then expect people to take a wild stab at the app is insane.

  • It does look good though!

@StormJH1: I agree. No audio demos of any kind is a bit strange when they took months to record and analyze all this sounds you even never heard this way on Mac or PC (when the despriction is true). The other apps and works from this developer(s) are not bad and so but i have mixed feelings here. For 10 bucks i would try it but for 50€ it would be my new most expensive app. I was going to buy something like Vienna Symphony or East West Quantum Leap because i need more proper orchestrial sounds but that is a heavy hitter in my budget. I also wonder how "just" 600MB can be compare to such VST.
Not the first time that i read "it's better than anything you heard before" but then it was a big dissapointment and i get another Galaxy.... äh...Cinebient Rant ;)

  • I'm trying to get a code of them, so we'll see, if its as good as they say they should send me one.
CMP is good though. But this is very pricey so its gonna have to be stunning, I'll let you know if they give me code.

  • @thesoundtestroom: Thank you... that would be great. I liked your CMP video too.

I have EWQL Silver, Garritan Personal and IKMs Miroslav library on the desktop. Also have the mobile edition of Miroslav inside Sampletank. While IKMs mobile Miroslav package is really nice sounding, it doesn't cover that much ground when it comes to articulations, and ability to play dynamically etc (assigning MOD Wheel to volume or whatever, is a no-go for example). And it's limited to only 4 parts.

So I'm definetely curious about how this sounds (and looks/works like). But I'm not gonna give'em 60 bucks without some demo first.

  • ^Another vote in this direction if the developer is counting chickens (or wants to).

  • Four hours and still no word about a code mmmm

  • My vote is in too

Incredible sound - the keyboard interface is an improvement on Grande Piano, I hope they upgrade the piano to match.
I'm also hoping this will be universal as the piano is...this, into BM2 on iPhone, with CMP Grande, yes please
Edit: just tried the 2 apps into BM2 on the iPad, via IAA, just beautiful. The deep tones are very rich indeed

  • @thesoundtestroom Someone in the iPad Musician FB group mentioned they had contacted the devs and they were on vacation for 2 weeks. So, might not be right away I guess. O.o

Super can't wait to try this one out. How does this compare to IK's Miroslav expansion as far as sound quality and control over string instruments?

  • @Littlewoodg - any chance of a demo? Video might be nice but at least pics and some sound? If you have time of course...

  • The only demo i found is this here:

  • That sounded great, until those fast 16th runs, those were "keyboardy." BT the stabs and such, very very nice!

Sounds good. But how is it all set up? There are 10 presets (or 18?). Does each of those presets contain individual sample-sets of the various instruments, playable on different midi channels? Or is it just all or nothing so to speak?

  • It may be the demo but it sounds synthetic to me

  • The Close Encounters theme covered by Tomita is one of the best synth string things. Not really sure why that came to mind, actually almost anything by Tomita was mega

  • I will not buy it yet. I also heard a lot better orchestrial sounds. I think i will go for an EWQL library instead. I think this is just full orchestra (maybe 1-2 solo instruments) with just a few articulations. It will be fast getting boring to use it for me. Not sure how it was played and which preset/sounds used here but it's not enough to let me spend 50€ on it.
No official demo/video yet is also a NoGo!

  • All the FREE orchestral soundfonts FTW.

Yikes this is expensive. I have this guy's piano, and it sounds OK. Nothing i'm going to use all the time. Until the iPads gain another GB, i'm on the sidelines in the acoustic sampler market.

It's curious that they would do something like this. Apparently, from the description they are claiming these were recorded for the iPad? and in a few months?

Well, it's interesting that's for sure

Fooled around some with this and the cc automations available in MTS for IPad (velocity, expression), with excellent results.
I prefer the sound to the Sampletank Miroslav stuff, more dynamics are available in these samples, to my ears, using cc

Edit: same fun in BM2, responds beautifully to per-note (1/32) pan, velocity automations
