    @sonosaurus

Just confirmed that ThumbJam will control iSymphonic Orchestra if iSymphonic is set to CoreMIDI and IAA (doesn't need the IAA at the time but I'm guessing this will be the config for a majority of users), and the cmpgrand port that shows up in ThumbJam has "Note Output" enabled. Pitch Bend doesn't seem to be recognized.

edit: strike that, some of the isymphonic presets are responding (oddly) to pitch bend. It sounds like an old warped vhs tape, awesome!

  • One other thing, this app outputs super loud and will give you a hot signal in no time. Not really likin' that...

I have the Sonatina Sondfont(s) inside bsi16. I deleted Music Studio from the iPad, the reverb in it doesn't exactly do the sounds any favour. But it's a keeper on the phone. Probably the best/fastest/easiest to use full production app/sketch-pad UI wise on a tiny phone screen IMO

  • Good to know. Haven't used it on the phone to date, but have got some long flights ahead of me...

Thankful for the effort that folks who have this are putting in to making demos. Appreciated. However, it still sounds dull and muted to my ear. Can someone who has it put it through an FFT and see what the higher frequency harmonics look like. Not impressed even yet. :-(

  • Orch Strings Slow 1 seems to be the best sound set of the bunch, judging the demos I've heard so far, but it's no better than Garageband's Romantic Strings soundset. Arco has a nice attack, but then it sounds like they've just added one of the slow sample sets which comes swelling in quite late after the initial attack. This is not what happens with a real string section and it sounds very unnatural. Played staccato, without any sustain, it might be passable, but I've not heard anyone demo it that way. The rest of the sounds I've heard are no better than an Ensoniq Mirage I used to use in the 80s, IMO.

  • Nothing here to tempt me to pay £37.99.

  • Sneak preview from the dev...

  • A sneak preview from an app which is still released? O.k. the short demo sounds really good but i trust more in a more "natural" you tube video from users... If they spend so much money they could do some more advanced and extended demos.

  • I couldn't resist...

  • Haha awesome!

I thought that was going to be Rossini's William Tell Finale!
Sounds not too shabby but was it worth the price?

  • @TGiG thanks, I was only messing and only had time to do a few quick tests. I tried IAA into AudioShare, Cubasis, virtual MIDI, Arpeggionome + a few others. All worked well and yes, it sounds really good especially into AudioReverb. I have the SF players, ThumbJam, Music Studio, Miroslav in ST etc., but this definitely sounds a cut above the rest.

  • It sounds a bit synthetic ,nice synthetic but not close to the real thing and the price is high...I'll wait for a video from the soundtestroom...thanks Trueyorky for the sound demos. The sounds feel like ready to be in a mix (like Reason's samples). But I don't think we will ever see on ipad ,sound libraries that can compete kontakt libraries...

  • Doug from thesoundtestroom already did a video on isymphonic.

    Not yet

  • Oh sorry! I remember seeing orchestra but forgot it was the WI. (I'm checking it out right now)

And I saw your post saying you where going to try to get a code..

Did they offer a copy for the CMP Grand Piano?

I find their marketing strategy a bit strange.

Is all that reverb coming from the app or your DAW?

  • @Coloobar that's me playing the app through IAA into AudioShare with AudioReverb. To be fair it does include quite a range of reverbs but right now I prefer to add my own.

  • Good news, I have a code, the code had been sent but due to a mail server issue I have only just got it. Anyway I'll get a demo done tomorrow with a bit of luck

  • @thesoundtestroom - Doug - do please be sure to give it a good workout - this one has a lot of interest. Specifically, can you take a look at the difference between the dry sound and any with reverb - and also what dynamics are offered. I'm sure those things - among others - would be of interest to all. :-) Keep up the good work !

Great news!Take your time ,making a detail review!

  • OK I will go through everything in as much detail as possible, probably be ready friday morning

  • Thanks so much for your attention to these things Doug :-)

  • A big thank you.

  • Looking forward to that. I am especially interested in the attack of the samples when 'dry'.
