@HotStrange I love impc2. I dig the way it sounds, works, and the workflow. I always get great results with it for whatever reason. It’s just fun to create with. I have every iOS music making app and I end up, a lot of the time making drum tracks and more with it quite often. Maybe it’s just me but I dig it. Not the most stable machine but making music on iOS has always been that way since the beginning. Workarounds and troubleshooting. Part of the reason why I still mess with my iPad regardless of having a room full of outboard. It’s just fun and for that price, man don’t sleep on that. Or do. It’s a good drum machine for sure.

I’m an Mpc fan, my first Mpc was the Mpc 2000 and currently I have two Mpc Live 2’s and the Mpc Studio Black. For me Impc pro 2 looks like an Mpc but doesn’t have the actual work flow. I’m not expecting a full blown Mpc for what it cost, but the biggest pita is getting your own samples in, you should really be able to drag and drop samples onto the pads instead of having to jump thru all the hoops it takes. It’s all about personal preference at the end of the day and for me BM3 is far superior. I have all the Impc app’s including Impc for IPhone , I’m glad it works for you but it needs more work for me, starting with drag and drop. I love Akai products, I just want Impc to live up to the name

My Akai boxes so far lol

Thanks for the feedback! Does it do anything that BM3 or Vatanator Pro can’t?

I had an MPC One for a while but could never quite get into the workflow of it. But it was very powerful. And I have their little MK3 midi controller which is great, so I’m definitely a fan.

one of a few fun things it does- sample with a virtual turntable from your Apple music downloads and (not necessarily downloaded) Spotify

also has AUv3 instrument functionality, IAA instrument recording and fx (mention this in terms of connectivity)

drag and drop sample would be nice, the team is actually pretty amenable to user requests (stem expert for example…) worth an email.

a really wonderful thing about it, is the functionality with the Akai midi controller called the Element. It’s not manufactured anymore. But can be found on ebay and sometimes Reverb. Fully integrated, pretty colored Akai classic drumpads. Works with iMPC Pro (1) and iMPC.

  • EGpulse is $3 off at $9.99

  • AI/Music Tool

AI Note Recorder is free was $.99 - does have a full unlock IAP for $.99 - I wonder how it tracks…

This layout does have me thinking it has a pinch of IM2 with the four banks, A. B. C. D. Im2 stopped evolving and is now gone (rip Im2) but it had a nice easy workflow for making beats in an efficient and effective way. Was never my main way, but one I always revisited to mix things up.

  • I was on beta years ago and had issues, but for $3.99… I don’t know…

Thanks! Didn’t know it supported IAA also and midi controller compatibility is cool. I think I remember seeing that when it came out maybe?

  • The sale for Tomofon ended a bit early…or maybe it’s just Swedish time. Disappoint.

the Element controller was available new when iMPC Pro (#1) was new. You may have seen that covered back then.

there are a couple other demos out there, Sweetwater for example.

The integration between the iMPCs (both 1 & 2) and the Element is very tight. The workflow is really fun, though I have no idea how much it is like the full-on hardware stuff.

Might be that it surpasses the early days stuff in terms of functionality (AUv3, storage size, export options, sample editing) but Im told by reliable sources here and elsewhere its nothing like working in the modern Akai boxes and desktop hardware. Including the feel of the drumpads, im told, though Elements are very sweet and velocity sensitive

2s features are mostly covered in vids for #1, if there’s any interest in learning #2. Features added (stem export, AUv3 etc) are covered in a few newer tutorials. All in there a lot of features, some platform exclusive. Crashes for me are almost nil, especially with the newer processors. Its a complex software

Have all except Audioscope. I’m still tempted by that one. The other 3 are fantastic. Copperhead just had a new update too I believe.
