I have only had a couple of hours with BS but I can say the pads are stunning. I love pad sounds and this synth excels at these. Just using one wavetable you can conjure up very interesting results. Not had a chance to dive into other catergories.

The presets themselves are all quite good because a good number of them are made by artist contributors (including Dendy and Jakob Haq, for example).

I would love to see someone make a whole set of DX-7 style patches for this synth, but that would take a bit of work.

  • Thank you @Sandstorm & @NeuM 🙏🏻

They finally got me. That very low price cannot be denied. Bought... and I like what I'm hearing so far. A far more positive experience than the Synthmaster synths.

Yes a steal at this price!..very complex indeed. Just using one wave table and modulating it with the lfo comes up with very interesting harmonic content.

Exactly. I’ve been on the beta for well over a year and still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible sometimes. It’s easily one of my top 3 iOS synths and maybe the most powerful one we’ve got. Brilliant work from the dev.

    Better than Tera Pro?

For me, yes. I like Tera Pro a lot but it’s not in my favorite. I think BS has a better UI as well. Both are very formidable though.

All comes down to personal taste right? They sound really bad to me. That's not to say that BS isn't capable of making good sounds, but there's not a single preset that tickles my fancy.

  • Ok, the one by Jakob Haq called "Aquwhat" is ok

Just to react quickly : I tried the beta of Buttersynth and although the sound was good, my reaction was « okay, but not as “rich” as Tera Pro ». To be honest, I would need to spend much more time with ButterSynth trying to create sounds I like. So this is just based on a quick first impression. Buttersynth has features Tera Pro don’t (sample player, granularizer) but Tera in return has 8x unison and something I love : the ability to create feedback signal loops. This makes sound evolve, unveiling harmonics, etc.
I will very probably buy Buttersynth and try to create epic sounding presets. Probably it is an amazing synth. But right now, I am still not 100% sure it can beat Tera pro sonic-wise.

Oh nice, I had exactly the same feeling and I thought I was the only one who didn't understand BS.

If you don’t know what you’re doing, like me, Synthmaster 2 for $6 is your best bet

If you know what you’re doing buttersynth is probably as good as a synth can get, I don’t know Tera pro but everyone holds it very high so you can go with a cheap guarantee (sm2), a new classic (Tera) or a new showstopper (bs).

I personally have no business with any of them, moog is “OG” in the iOS synth game and that has me stumped (model 15 particular), and my success with Hilda is just how Hilda looks, a mish mosh of stuff that I mess with until I get sort of what I like or close to what I want, so for someone at my level beginner SM2 is the best “deal” and I use only presets since there is 1000 at least .But if you know a little of synths, the others are probably more of what you want

Just opinion of someone who has literally all I can handle with a lot of extra on top of it too (If I didn’t cap it at what I did, I would have probably bought more stuff during summer sale), but now if I don’t make music with what I have then what he’ll am I doing here now

    Thanks :)

I wish it were as easy in ios to buy 3rd party preset packs as it appears to be in the desktop world. Though most appear to be for Serum, I still managed to find synthwave presets for three of Cherry Audio’s synths. There were even Human League and Yazoo preset packs for Vacuum Pro. :)

But— this is an incentive to keep learning.
