  • Tough call @Johanso i only have alpha out of the 3. Definitely a cool synth but can’t make a comparison for ya.

New Nembrini app on Intro pricing

The Voltour Valve Enhancer is currently $7.99

Got it last night and it’s great! I can see it being one of my go to saturation/drive apps.

I’m wondering how it compares to Valves?

Haven’t bought the Nembrini one yet, but I think Valves definitely lends itself more to the unusual valve amplification sounds, and I’d be surprised if this one goes to those extremes.

Reggae Drummer is $5 off at $12.99

It's disappointing that Apple still has not created Reggae, Swing or other drumming styles for either GarageBand or Logic Pro for mobile or desktop. I inevitably have to jump through a lot of hoops to get the kind of drumming out of the software that I'm really looking for.

    Bleass Sale

Omega is $5 off at $9.99

Alpha is $5 off at $9.99

    As @Luxthor mentioned…

Megalit is $10 off at $14.99

Which one is worth buying most?

All three are great really imo, three different types of synthesis but they all have a similar vibe as far as modulation and fx go. If I could only chose one it would probably be Megalit because I’m really into wavetable synthesis lately, especially anything that comes close to Serum, and Buttersynth is great too, I copied all my Serum wavetables to my IPad and use them in ButterSynth , but again all three are great and the random preset function on all three are great

Voltour is much more warm and “analog” sounding. It can get veeeery noisy - in a good way - and really beef things up.

Valves can get noisy as well but like most AudioThing apps, it seems to be geared a bit more towards the experimental where the Nembrini is a more straight ahead saturation app. The good thing is they’re different enough to justify both. For me anyway lol

That’s hard to say as they are 3 very different apps and 3 completely different types of synthesis. One is FM, one is VA, and one is Wavetable. So I guess it depends on what kind of synthesis you’re after.

Agreed. I love the drummer in Logic/GB but it could really use some more drumming styles. I’m hoping they’ll add some of those next before adding another loop/sample pack.

Haha. I'm a drummer at heart, so I am open to all styles of drumming. Love the work of Sly and Robbie, for example.

All Kai Aras apps are 40% 50% and 60% off. I believe until the end of the month, but not certain, only saw that in one of the App Store descriptions.

He has 17 apps including the Free Midi Spy, so 16 Apps on sale!

I think the IAPs are discounted as well.

For anyone: does KB-1 offer anything to someone that already had Xequence Keys/Pads and Velocity Keyboard?

For regular non mpe velocity control I personally prefer to use y axis touch for this. When I need that my first choice is Xequence Keys, largely because I like the UI much more. Really tired of skeumorphic UIs, I find kb-1 kinda ugly and I think Xequence Keys is gorgeous - just a matter of personal taste.

But, Xequence Keys is bizarrely lacking a Latch / Hold function, MD although it's on the dev's list, it doesn't look like it is a priority, so for times when I want Latch, like in my Phase Monkey demo where I had a mix of held notes and played notes triggering 5 different instances of Phase Monkey, I reach for kb-1. Unfortunately it does not remember held notes between sessions, and I can't think of a midi keyboard that does (tonality chord pads does but is not exactly a keyboard)

Thanks! I love Xequence Keys/Pads as well and it’s my default keyboard for anything but the lack of a latch or hold feature is definitely its Achilles heel.

Wim was nice enough to write me a Moziac script for latching notes, so that’s what I’ve been using the last few days. I guess that’s the only real benefit of kb-1 for me so maybe I should save my money and pass for now unless it does anything else unique?

Btw I’m happy to share that script if you want it, that way you can still have latched notes using XK!

Please do! Does it remember the notes when you reopen a session? This is a fairly complex design decision for the designer - for me, it wouldn't actually even have to play the notes when the session is opened and the transport turned on, it would just be enough for it to show which notes were last held in the previous session and then I could manually retrigger the notes. This would be very useful for my drone workflow

Unfortunately it doesn’t. I’m not sure if @wim or anyone could write that into it but I do hope a dev will make that into its own app eventually or it will be added to an existing app. Maybe Drambo 😂

That's an interesting thought. Remembering notes held down between sessions is something one would routinely try never to do in a script. Whatever synth is playing would not be playing when the session is opened, so those notes being held down would do nothing and would confuse the flow of note-on / note-off flow.

I did write a script that remembers the last CC, pitch bend, and program change sent through it, and re-triggers those on session open, but specifically excluded notes for that reason.

It wouldn't be that hard to modify that script or the latch script to track notes and resend them on session start. It seems like an odd thing to do though.

It's not odd if you regularly play around with drones and want a complex polyphonic drone to play the way you had it last set up in a session without having to write a note to be able to remember. But like I say, really all I would need is to see the notes (like aum does with the colour difference when a key is pressed - if you then go preset surfing while the notes are latched, there will likely be a note off happening soon but the key will still be highlighted in AUM and you can easily find and re-press the notes you were last droning).

My whiny fanboyism towards Bleass wanted that feature, but my pragmatic side already bought enough wavetable synths and tools for all of my needs.

You know, it’s kinda tragic that such a wonderful tool from Bleass is missing such a crucial feature as this. I probably overestimated their intention. Instead of the "cutting edge" motto for their other tools, this one is more on the line with "good enough". 🤔

Yes I didn't expect it would be able to, don't worry! Hoping am existing keyboard app dev, especially Seven Systems, will add this possibility, but as he pointed out, there are a lot of factors to consider
