Dmitrij Pavlov's Pure Acid $7.99. I'm guessing the IAPs are just for "show" support and not necessarily add any features?

The IAP gives you access to a Ukranian flag UI theme and app icon, otherwise no functional difference. It's been said here many times, but Pure Acid is the best 303 emulation in the iOS market, hands down.

100% it’s not even close. Well, Troublemaker is really good too but Pure Acid is like 90% the same as the original.

For sure, I love Troublemaker, and it's definitely an acid baseline synth, but I wouldn't really call it a 303 emulator per se.

Fair enough. I agree with that, it does seem to sorta have its own thing going a little bit.

  • IMHO it's a bit easier to make sounds in Poison and has a bit of a more aggressive sound. Both are wonderful, though

I see, a bit more aggressive, but overall they are much alike soundwise? Sunrizer has more options.

  • They are similar but they each have their own vibe. I don't know how to explain it in words so much but Poison is a little "colder" (in a good way) for lack of a better way to put it

    This may help

They aren’t completely different, but I think there’s definitely is enough difference to justify both. There are some similarities, Both have patch randomizers, both great virtual analog synths, both lightweight (poison might be slightly lighter on cpu) etc…

I think the main difference is ultimately in the sounds. I think poison can get a bit gnarlier, edgier, brighter, in your face, if you will. Poison is more open and edgy sounding, Where sunrizer is warmer, richer, & smoother sounding. If that makes sense…It might have something to do with the filter emulations used in building the app, I’m not sure, but basically they sound different. Different enough to own both. both sound great, both are staples in the iOS musicians tool belt. Maybe an audio comparison with two YouTube videos will help you get a better sense of what im talking about.

Update - I’d also say it depends on the type of music you’re making, or want to make or what you are trying to achieve. I have both, and love both. I do use sunrizer a little bit more but that’s only because the sound suits the music I’m trying to create a little more.

    It’s well worth $5

  • Utility

Floating Clock Stopwatch is free and IAP Lifetime Unlock is free too, usually $99.99 - floating window for calculating, notes, teleprompter, etc… the name doesn’t really sum up all the uses.

  • Guitar Parrot is $3 off at $1.99

There is also a free lite version to try before you buy.

lol, that’s an accurate word. I have these terms I use for describing sounds personally, but I’m never sure if they translate when trying to describe a specific sound to others, lol. Ie. See my post above.

  • @Fear2Stop @Poppadocrock Thanks Poppa and Fear for explanation, I’ll sleep a night over it :)
Btw, speaking of Sunrizer, where is that patch randomizer hidden? :#

This is just one among a variety of synths I'd really, really like to see JimAudio (the developer) bring to desktop (paid or as a free upgrade). I've had to replace all instances of it as I moved my iPadOS files to desktop.

    https://poison202.onfastspring.com/poison-202-synthesizer-plugin

"Note: current version of Poison-202 is NOT compatible with Windows. Also please note, that M1 / M2 architecture is not currently supported. However, Poison-202 can work in DAWs that run in Rosetta mode."

It hasn't been updated in years. Software running in Rosetta mode at this point is not a serious offering for customers.

It is a bit hard to find if you don’t know it’s there. Hit “utils” button at top, then synth tools, then randomize. Enjoy!

. Poison-202 is a iOS must have for me. It works fine on my M2 iPad

Wow...I didn't even know there WAS a randomizer on it! Soon as I get my phone back I'm gonna give it a whirl ^_^

  • How is Kai’s RF-1 reverb? Seems like a good convolution verb for cheap.

Also does KB-1 do anything I can’t do with Xequence Keys, Geoshred, LK, and Velocity Keyboard?

  • edited October 2023

@HotStrange Its actually algorithmic I think. It’s alright but I hardly ever use it. Too many reverbs!

KB-1 is also okay but doesn’t seem to have anything super special. It’s functional.
