I consider it abandonware at this point.
I really can't see an update being planned for it.

Why do a black friday sale and then pull the plug? That doesn’t make sense unless someone’s a bad boy.

It's not been updated and any meaningful way in ages. Audio should have been out in 2022. It's over a year late and not a peep from the dev so I think it's dead.

Honestly if his real life is so hectic that he can't even afford the developers fee, he should hand the code over to another developer/team of developers who actually care to maintain it/fix any bugs. I mean he hasn't been active in the Blip forums since June of last year, no annual bugfix update, etc.

Honestly at this point after 4+ years, it seems to me personally that he really doesn't care anymore about his app or his beta testers and customer base. This is my subjective opinion and not objective fact, so grain of salt.

I just hope it's only an appstore glitch and that I'm wrong. I want to be proven wrong.

  • i'm not giving up on NS2. Although I'm doubtful audio tracks will come, I think it will be maintained for at least another few years. I remember many years ago - I had given up on any kind of NS1 update - but then out of the blue one appeared. I'm sure it will be back in the app store later today or tomorrow - who knows, maybe even with a couple of very minor features updated/added?

I'm not giving up on NS2 either. I'm just disillusioned. I hope you're right mate.

  • I bought my last two outstanding packs last week. I’ve just checked and my IAPs are there. I really hope NS2 is not going away. I’ve got used to it recently and would prefer this to CB3.

  • @tja The free version of iMazing can be used to download NS2. And with the most recent update, a full backup of your device is not necessary.

Just connect the device, press "Trust this computer" on the iPad or iPhone, and then in iMazing, in the top left toolbar dropdown, go to "Manage Apps". On this page, search "Nano" and it should pop up. Then download the IPA, and right click and choose "Export IPA".

I downloaded it when I saw this thread, so it wasn't too late when I posted that comment.

  • I deleted NS2 from my iPad the other day. Could be lost forever.

  • not much in contact with matt recently but it seems most likely just forgot renew his dev livence .. as inknow his plans were to keep NS2 alive as long as possible (at least until Apple doesn’t totally irreversibly break something in some iOS 44.14 update :-)))

he is informed through all availabe channels so hope he notices it soon

  • I used it for something the other day. IMHO it’s still the best DAW on iOS other than the omission of audio tracks. We’ll see where it’s going! 😎👍🏼

I was hoping you'd say you've been doing some testing lately, but sadly not 😀

If Matt had followed the original roadmap, he wouldn’t have gotten bogged down adding AUv3 which is what killed the project. iPhone version was not an issue.

  • Good to see some fervent fans out there - NS2 is my main DAW these days, I can’t imagine what I’d use instead for mobile production

    NS1?

  • Nothing comes close to NS2 for usability.

Exactly. I hope Matt stops ignoring us all and wakes up.

    Not for me it wasn’t.

    Glad he pleased somebody.
I really hope this makes him consider selling the entire project off, maybe a community driven effort, but I suspect he values his efforts more than the project is financially worth.

I hope it hasn't been abandoned and this is just a licensing issues with Apple, but if it has, surely a good developer can be found to take it over and push it on. It's too good an app to die. I'm sure there's a rational explanation for what's happened.

The ultra overhype from betatesters was the epic fail

  • Oops I left it too long before hitting the restore on the offloaded app, been meaning to for weeks, teach me to be a lazy data hog…

That was indeed a very interesting eruption when NS2 dropped. There was a particularly devoted beta tester (and absolute font of NanoKnowledge) who could accept no criticism and had a kind of breakdown and quit the forums after just the slightest pushback.

I never found it useful, but I feel for those who rely on it. It's a bummer.

  • I’m optimistic that the developer has simply said the hell with giving people expectations for what’s to come only to have them bitch about it when it’s not exactly what they imagined, and has been quietly working on an update. The pitchforks came out as soon as audio track deadline weren’t met. If I were him I would just drop an update or an entire new app with zero announcement. I certainly wouldn’t listen to a bunch of butthurt BS.

  • "AUv3 over Audio Tracks is a fail"? I made this in NS2 without audio tracks, and the original artist was pleased and released it.
