I did some experimenting with Gadget and Strokes (this sound like shite, just wanted to show possibility). Both in Stand Alone mode.
Now, having watched the video with the guy explaining, it seem Strokes need companions like e.g Mozaic. He have done stuff in Bitwig and Ableton to accompany Strokes functions that I have no clue how to replicate on iOS (Mozaic coders: heeelp!!).
I feel there are quite a few pieces missing for this to be real useful on iOS. I contacted the dev (about presets) and at least he was quick to reply.

I don't think that exist yet. I wrote him today and asked for it and some presets. And also Ableton Link which surprisingly seem to be missing. I think this is one of the first apps I've seen not having that somewhat crucial (for iOS) element.

Yeah, I gotta be honest with you and say that a refund is on my mind, if it's not too late(?). The missing Ableton Link make stand alone jam .. very boring if not unusable. I get a lot of crashes when using it as AUV3. He does explain the various buttons and dials in the video fairly well, and the scope as a visual aid is great. It's a petty because there is potential but its release is premature, I think. If the price had been a third I would patiently wait for updates but now, Idk.

Edit: I did apply for a refund, don't think I gonna get it though but we'll see.

Well, ok. I am finding that it does generate some good drum/percussion bits that I can sample and use in other contexts - it’s a good resource for sampling.
EDIT:
Spent more time with it this afternoon and got some pretty interesting melodic results. I’m not giving up on this…

with the dials on the right side you can configure how each channel affects 4 independent CC lanes. very cool

i have used strokes with ableton live for a while, and having an ios version is just great. my fav drum sequencer by far. very intuitive and very musical.

I asked the developer about switching presets and patterns, here's the info he provided:

"You can change patterns and note selects using MIDI notes:

• PATTERN slots A-E : C#0 D#0 F#0 G#0 A#0
• NOTE slots 1-7 : C0 D0 E0 F0 G0 A0 B0

It doesn't specifically interact with program changes

...... there aren't any banks, just 5 patterns in a project."

So this looks like a compositional tool, not a performance tool. With no preset change via midi, there's no way you can play a live set with smooth transitions with just five patterns,

Just had a quick fiddle, pardon lol, this app is deep, the more you experiment the deeper the hole. Really enjoying it so far and only had 30 mins, problem is no idea what am doing. Good job they dont let us drive cars the same way!

In my oppion at start up price of between £14.99-17.99 may have got more people on board.
Don’t have Siri on it will crash, a few crashes without Siri too.
He really needs some preset demos to show this baby off. Right now now am stubbling around in the dark with a few accidental wonders.

Yep its a little vague. It needs videos to explain stuff. Dont read manuals been dsylexic and all but having a blast. Kinda getting to grips with it slowly.

Yeah I am going to get round to this and I love the look of the interface. But5i don't like apps that are hard to understand purely because the users manual doesn't cut muster (which was definitely the case with Beatcutter). So if It looks like it would be too much of a time sink - which Beatcutter really was - I might abandon ship. Another much better option would be to just to a voice / video call with the dev and then make a video on it. Does really look promising though. Can see from the size of this thread and number of comments that price has clearly been a factor in many not buying, also.

Yep the price has put a lot of people off, which is a shame because this has so much potential. How much is a hardware sequencer these days, even the cheapest and most basic? I just spent £24 on a few basic meds and this sure makes me feel better than the meds.
Manual is poor at best however it is a lot easier to navigate than beatcutter and everything is under one hood/page. No fliping back and forth, so thats a major bonus.
My daughter has used my ipad and switched accounts on Youtube, my own channel was setup ages ago and I cant remember how access Toastedghost or I would post some vids of it in action.

• I'm working toward making this fully cross platform so you can share projects/patterns between VST3/AU/AUv3/Standalone. This is already implemented on standalone iOS, where your projects are stored on iCloud and I'll be adding import/export (save/load) to the VST3/AU soon
• The £35 price is intended for the cross platform license/bundle. I need to get to grips with Apple's TOS before I can start honouring this but you can email about it in the mean time. congburnwaves at gmail dot com

Yes I second that I know that Serif Labs used a similar cross platform deal for their version 2 suite.

Euclidean rhythms is literally just a term given to the discovery that Euclid’s algorithm map to common patterns all over various forms of music from classical to traditional African and Arab rhythms to Frank Zappa.
You may not notice them, but they are everywhere 😉

Bear in mind, it’s very easy to program Euclidean rhythms as long as you can set the sequence length, you don’t need a Euclidean specific one. Sequencers like this just make that programming far quicker.

I know, I know. You sure do know how to reduce a grumpy guy’s semi-trolling effectiveness though. My morale is way down now. You should win awards and start a task force.

OH my, I am having sooooo much fun with this in AUM with some controls mapped to a Nanokey Studio.

By duplicating a rhythmically 'setup' Strokes (percussion) I can (on the duplicate) remap the notes played ON THE FLY from any midi input producing great baselines and melody - unlike just remapping a drum machine to a synth and then use the Nanokey to vary sequence variables synchronised between each instances - a few manual performance interventions keep things interesting but the overall structure remains solid. So much fun AND that's without touching the weights or matrix sections! I have officially lost my GAS for a Torso T1 - thank you!!

I think there is a bug where if you set any channel to other than midi channel 1 note offs only get sent to channel 1 leaving hanging notes on channels 2-16? I didn't notice this making crazy rhythms then I moved to make melodic jams. Does anyone else see this? I've emailed the Dev and will report back

(note - I love drambo but this would need too much setting up to get even close to what Strokes does with ease)

Tempted but this, but even after watching all videos and reading the manual, my brain is still not understanding the full concept. Anyone that has purchased got any advice or links to videos that may help. Really want this to give me another unique way of producing interesting rhythms and or basslines but unsure. Any help much appreciated.

I really like it, it’s not as complicated as it first appears, quite a nice, almost circular arrangement of interactions between all the moving parts. @Gavinski is heavily testing it at the moment and keeps finding things that could be seen as flaws or omissions, but I personally like the cut of its jib…

I own the desktop version and really like it. I'm holding off on the iOS version because the screen shots look like the UI elements would be pretty small on an 11" iPad. Delicate finger movements eventually lead to me using an app less and less. At $24, I'm a little hesitant to to just go ahead and buy it to find out. Can others who have purchased it provide any information on how fidgety the UI is.
