Cool. I just emailed him about not being able to load Samples in Stand Alone or auv3 modes (iPad Pro M1+16.2).
Cheers.
Yes, it's a sad and beautiful world.
It’s not going to be far off, possibly better in many ways.
The Volca Sample 2 is such a cute machine though. It calls on my creativity.
Buy both and sequence the volca with the app, best of both worlds 😀
This I have thought of, yes. I need to dive deep into this stuff at this point.
so does this app do beat divisions per step ? or do anything cool with timing?
what makes this one different from other sequencers?
Am I being an idiot or does this not work as a midi AU?
Hmm, well spotted, kind of. Actually it is an auv3, but weirdly, in aum, it doesn't appear in the audio unit midi processor list. It instead is under the audio unit extension. You can however open multiple midi instances. I usually just open a midi node and search for it by name, so never noticed this. Will fire the dev a quick email. I does this cause problems in other hosts?
I've been trying to get it to do something in NS2 and failing. Even adding Strokes as an AU instrument on a child track and using MIDI Route there's nothing being sent.
Hello everyone
I'm gonna be testing a fix for this later today - hopefully its solved on first attempt !
Unfortunately MIDI FX can't generate audio so in AUM it wants to run as an audio AU - then you can use AUM's MIDI routing to hook it up to another channel. Easiest way to do this is open the MIDI routing button on the target plugin (your instrument/synth) and set it's MIDI input to be the instance of Strokes. Hope this helps !
What's showing in settings for Strokes for the MIDI channels of the 8 sources (grid 1-4 and Logic 5-8)?
I'm not an NS2 expert but is there a way of assigning MIDI input channels to tracks?
I too, am unfamiliar with NS2 - just wanted to confirm that (by default) each seq channel sends on its own midi channel so you may need to target the specific channel of the sequencer. You can set the MIDI channels for each seq channel on the config page - if, for example, you want to send all the MIDI on channel 1
My projects using the previous version in AUM will no longer load. Anyone else having this problem? I had an older session that was really cool and now it appears to be gone!
Best to @congburn or email him via his website when reporting bugs BTW, though also good to check in here if others are experiencing the same
Drop me an email and I'll try sending you a testflight link to the v3.8 build - this will let you export your patterns, then you should able to import them into the v3.9
As far as I can tell, if it’s loaded as an instrument it’s not able to send midi anywhere in NS2. Probably should have read the App Store description better but I bought it expecting to be able to use it as a midi AU, I’m not overly interested in using it as an instrument with samples but it looks like it should be amazing at driving other instruments. Would be interested if anyone has gotten it to sequence AU instruments in any DAW other than AUM, I have a feeling AUM is the outlier here.
It works in Cubasis
Apematrix works too but I couldn’t get it working in NanoStudio either.
@congburn probably a good case for finding some beta testers who are using daws other than AUM here
Ok. Thanks - just sent you a message. Fingers crossed.
I feel like the solution here is to have a seperate MIDI FX and instrument/sampler builds.
I'm tackling this same thing for Logic AU next so I will do the same for iOS too.
In the meantime I can send you the last build via testflight which will run as a MIDI effect - just DM me your email address.
Separate MIDI FX would be great for situations where you just want to sequence other au instruments even in AUM. Thanks @congburg
Oh yes, Benigni. 👍 His part in Night on Earth is as close to the perfect movie short as you can get.
Edit: it's on YouTube in full
That's fantastic news, thanks @congburn. I'm happy to wait for it to hit the App Store though, I'm not a great beta tester.
+1
This is solved, there'll be a fix landing later today
Awesome sauce!
Did you see my feedback from a couple hours ago?
