  • One of the features that I like about FF stuff is the XLFO which can be either a classic fast (up to 500Hz) LFO or a 16-step step sequencer making it easy to create step-modulated sounds and there's no set limit on how many one can use.

I've not found in the documentation if an oscillator can be used to modulate another oscillator (other than sync and ring-mod) so I guess real FM is a no can do. (keyboard scaled XLFO might work for certain types of fm sounds).

And well I like the sound of the FF filters so I guess that's about it?!

Considering that some have gotten Twin 3 for 'free' I'm interested in seeing what the 'complete my bundle' price will be for the creative effects as I've gotten them all at their 'regular' prices...

  • I get the appeal of Fabfilter’s stuff, but this is certainly not for me. I’d much rather have a slightly cluttered (but well organized) interface as long as I can see everything I need to see all at once.

Just tried the desktop demo, and the sound quality is quite rich, but I found the presets a bit samey tbh and a bit generic. With limited oscillator options, maybe this is inevitable, but so far it sounds like a better version of Twin 2, but they've stuck quite closely to that original, maybe too closely.

I think I've been spoiled by the much broader sonic palette of, say, Tera Pro or Pigments, whose sonic scope is so vast, that Twin 3 seems a little tame by comparison. I wish they'd been a bit more daring.

Pigments 4 is my desktop benchmark these days, especially with its huge sound and vast sonic possibilities and top class modulation system and effects, and also since after buying v1, upgrades to v2,3 and 4, astonishingly, were free! So Twin 3 has some stiff competition, and on first glance it needed to do more to sit at the top table ... but I'll give this one another go.

That's me - try it and make up your own mind.

Looking from Desktop point of view I am not sure to bury a 130€.
There you can go really long with Vital, Pigments, Serum of course and Phaseplant etc.

but on iOS viewpoint I am excited what it will bring to the party. the Workflow of FF looks like fun of course. I love their design approach and language. I think there is no plugin ever made that displays ENV curves as flipping beautiful and aesthetic as FF does :)

    let see how this develops.

  • For this one my interest is not necessarily that is has the best sound…just that it’s a solid well tested synth that will have some decent long term reliability / stability

With many of the other iOS synths I have, I feel like they are in borrowed time. Like any minute the dev could say…well that’s a wrap we outta here.

  • I can’t wait for this to drop on iOS

  • Though well designed, I agree with above that it's price is high compared to what's on the market now.

  • iOS version confirmed

  • The GAS for this is real. I have enough quality synths on iOS, but having Twin outside of Auria has always been a want of mine. 😃

  • Can I use Twin 3 as an effect for my guitar?

I feel you, the combination of elements for this synth are awesome and FF’s high standards make this a must buy on iOS in my eyes.

  • Sorry about the duplicate post I made, I didn’t see this one.

They responded to me on YouTube and said it’ll be in a few days!!!

  • This very simple demo is really pretty inspiring in terms of sound design.

  • I’m so excited to play around with all the modulation options for it and it just sounds great on top of it all

  • That does sound pretty cool, thanks for sharing. It's impossible imo that Fabfilter will make something that is not excellent, even if the included presets might not be to everyone's taste. The great modulation etc will surely allow for interesting sound design opportunities, the only question is how finger-friendly it will be.

Was playing around with Twin 2 in Auria Pro yesterday And forgot how creative the synth can be, going to be great for bass parts and has some inspirational filters and modulation so really looking fwd to the update band of course AU3.

I'm sure it will be, like the other apps : SUPER finger-friendly, if and ONLY IF you have a pencil at your fingertips! o:)

    It's not sausage-fingers friendly then?

Well, the fabfilter UI is more from the school of Look But Don't Touch, if you know what I mean

  • Once one learns where the 'touch-zones' of the FF widgets are they work quite well even without the Apple Pencil.
Many things can be adjusted without using the knobs and buttons and there's plenty of double-tap-n-drag and tap with one finger and use another for fine-adjustment, pinch gestures etc.

The UIs have so far become almost second nature to me (been using them way too much I guess?!).

All you gotta do is touch it in the right spots. 😉 That's how you make the signal very wet.

    ...okay showing myself out. ✌️

Yeah there has been a lot of improvement in the touch zones, I'm not too worried about how Twin 3 will implement.

  • Twin 3 isn’t being released fast enough. :#

Don't worry, I know of at least 2 other cool apps that will likely be released imminently to bide you over 😝

Haha, you know me I'm very picky these days and some bread and butter stuff doesn't shake me much these days...
