I love fabfilter eq, compressor, limiter, they are in my top 10 used plugins but this is just another VST synth really. It doesn't stand out amongst the other VST synths. You can do with vital synth for free.

Hat are yout top 10 used plugins ? I do a spring clean up so it is useful to know ?

Well not to hijack the post i won't respond after

My top ten if I had to delete the rest and only use Ableton stock plugins -

"the best analog-modeled oscillatars". Is it marketing or it sounds better than other synth? I already have too many synths, I try to calm down my GAS but if it really worth it...

It is really a matter of taste , I got it but so many synth that I forget always to use it 😂 I do a big clean up on synth to have only seen tall ones that want to become expert. Still on my list is to use the twin 3 to see if it fit what I do.

I spent all the day trying on multiple environments all my synth. After sound it a master of taste , I have deleted all the Bleass one including free one as I don’t like the too metallic agressive sound on Bleass one but it is my opinion I love big sounds or subtle ambient granular ones. Hopefully all my Bleass where free ones and bee bought IAP.

In my music making I need first an sound that bring me emotions to create around.

I really love Twin3. I can easily see it becoming a favorite for me. It really sounds excellent. I just need to learn the interface. I’m a big fan of FabFilter.

Couldn’t go without the Bleass apps though. Especially their effects. They have, imo, some of the best and most unique effects on iOS. Even the “simple” ones like the Flanger are entirely unique. I don’t find Alpha very metallic. It’s very analog sounding, imo. Omega makes sense considering it’s FM though.

Now I got less synth on my iPad to focus on using them to full extend and keep only the one that I love and that fit my music. Nothing against Bleass but it is not my cup of tea even if they do great apps , it is a matter of sound effect taste that is very personal. The only Bleass is sample wiz that fit what I want to do.

I never delete an apps they are all in the cloud.

SampleWiz is a great one to keep around! Definitely one of their best. Have you tried their effect apps? They’re great for sound design.

I’ll probably cull some apps when Logic comes out, but as often as I jam and mess around, I usually end up using all the apps I have at some point. There are a few that can go though. Especially IAA and apps that no longer seem to get supported.

Just recently got sidekick a couple months ago. It’s fantastic for house! Actually pairs well with Twin3 😂

does twin 3 got oscillator reset, so the waveform starts every time at the same point?and can one turn off analog drift? so that every hit is exactly the same.

The reset is called Phase Sync in the manual

    https://www.fabfilter.com/help/twin/using/oscillators

I think Twin 3's default state is no drift, but drift can easily be added by modulating the oscillator parameters.

  • Multitouch support would be nice!

Twin 3 does have oscillator "drift" that you can't turn off. You can hear it pretty easy with the "clean" patch. Happens even with phase sync enabled.

Feel free to post in the feature request to ask for an option to turn it off. The more posts the more likely it is:

Dragging invisible connections between inputs to make awesome sounds... Inspiring video!

Though as Dan points out, a simple Viking Synth can sound great, and might even sound better in the mix.

Not immediately being able to discern reminds me that Mr. Clark once wrote: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

By the way, it’s “Clarke”... Arthur C. Clarke.

  • Twin 3 is on sale until July...I may have to get it even though I really don't need it :)

Does anyone know how to Save (not Save As) over a patch in Twin 3 using touchscreen only?

The manual mentions a right-click menu with Save on it, but I’m not using a mouse, and the usual long-press option on the preset browser button doesn't seem to bring those options up, unless I’m misunderstanding the process the manual is decribing.

EDIT: Found it … in case anyone else is looking for it:
    1. Open Preset Browser
    2. Swipe left on preset name to show EDIT & DELETE
    3. Select Edit > This brings up the Save Preset dialog with preset name already in
    4. Click Save
    5. Confirm overwrite

    Done!

I’m not sure this is correct. The manual states that a small amount of analog drift is built into the oscillator, and is triggered for each note-on event.

This is a separate OSC feature from Phase Sync.

I caved and got it. For the sale price, no regrets. The easy modulation control is very cool. I don’t need it either ;) but it’s a beautiful interface, great control to customize, and it sounds great. Kinda fun to play around with too :)

  • I did not need another synth, but I bought it, couldn’t resist the sale. It’s been really fun. The money was worth getting me to work on music for the past few days, it got me going in a good direction.

Yeah it's very good, I have tried on desktop. Still trying to hold off because I'm not sure if I'd use it much. Most of my music money is going towards hardware now, just the occasional iPad stuff as I have most things I need. The good thing about Fabfilter is they have sales at the same times of the year so you know you can always grab it next time :)

The UI works well for a synth.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong but so far it’s the worst UI I’ve ever used on an iOS synth. The little circles you need to drag modulation from are next to impossible for me to hit and not activate the level slider instead .. I would need an Apple Pencil just to be accurate with this thing,

Oddly enough, I’ve never had an issue with any of Fabfilters effect plugin modulation but Twin 3 is a PITA for me.

  • I agree that you need an Apple pencil

  • A mouse also works well

  • Yeah..... but will it will bring my cafe mocha to me in the morning?

  • FabFilter ported desktop versions as it is straight to the iOS platform for the fifth of the original price. Those UIs are designed to be used with precise cursor pointers. Although you can use a mouse on the iPad, it’s still not as precise as a mouse on the desktop, so the Apple Pencil is the best solution.

I understand the frustration some people are going through, but having those tools on the iOS platform is a dream come true.

But, worth mentioning, albeit the UI this synth, FF Twin v3 sounds incredible, a real joy to use into the Logic Pro workflow on iPad.

Yeah, I’m not sure why I took so long to get this synth. It sounds really good. More than the sum of its parts. I never owned Twin 2 so really getting into it.
