    Crisp.

As in: the LFO in this synth is amazingly crisp.

As a non-native English speaker, what do people means when they say "lush"? I read this word so many times, not sure what it means.

It's like "transparent overdrive", I just cannot understand the meaning of it.

    Thanks

Hahah I just came off a rant in another thread about overuse of meaningless buzzwords. “Lush” indeed is a major qualifier.

Waiting for “moist” to catch on. 😂

God I hate that word 😂 imagine “this synth sounds so moist” 🤢

Overuse of corporate buzzwords in everyday English drives me up the wall, always has. Americans seem particularly blighted by this affliction. But even just in a work context, it's annoying af and always strikes me as a sign of insincerity, insecurity or a need to impress. I hate when I send a complaint to a company and they reply by thanking me for 'reaching out'. No, I'm not reaching out, I'm complaining or making a suggestion 😅

"We need to do a deep dive on these actionables once we have more bandwidth again. You guys will really have to open the kimono and leverage the shit out of this if we want to do an Elon and stay on the bleeding edge. Let's circle back once you're done."

The TV show Succession is great at parodying this. I mean I LOVE these phrases when they're used knowingly and humorously, but when used without self awareness they really make me roll my eyes, inwardly at least, haha.

That said, I have no problems here with anyone, including myself, using the word 'worflow' 😉

This is bit of blue-sky thinking here Gav. Let me take that away and do some brainstorming to line everything up and optimise future developments! ;-) lol

Glad to see we are all on the same page, be sure to keep me in the loop if you action anything. I don't want to have to punch a puppy on this one. We need more thought leaders to double click on this

  • Workflow deserve a new post in itself.

  • Punch a puppy 😂? I'll have to look that one up

  • And yeah, 'actioning things'... Ugh... The pathological need to turn every noun into a verb. To 'verb' everything, I mean 🤮

Thanks for reaching out with these examples. The first conversation I had in English was interviewing for my job eight years ago, and then I moved to the US, so I have unconsciously started using a few of them. Some I do recognize, especially when they try to make it as if it's family instead of a job, but that's probably because back home they did the same.

It's not jargon, but at some point I started mimicking the local accent that turns "nt" into "nn" (e.g. "Sanna Claus") 🤮

At the end of the day, it is what it is.

  • Please don’t forget That some members here are not living in UK or US and English is not their mother tongue, when I was working, even if English was the work language only 10 % were native speakers and corporate language, worst in dev, to understand each other were words like « workflow «  and so.

I went to a British university but I am not able to speak a lot in English about philosophy , it wasn’t so trendy in corporate work.

  • I had to scroll back up to the top to remember what this thread was about lol

  • Dragging things back to the original subject - it looks like the release is due today (28th April)

  • Sounds fairly similar to UA Silo?

  • When is it coming out?

On paper, maybe. In reality, no. Silo is a lot more diverse in the types of sounds it can achieve, but Cascade has a very beautiful sound quality to it, to my ears more ‘beautiful’ than Silo in many cases, and a much much more accessible UI.

But yes - Silo is definitely far broader in scope. Definitely harsher though - have just been experimenting. I think if you like FX apps they are definitely both worth having.

I hate this stuff. I’m not well-traveled so I don’t know, but I feel like the obsession with adverbs (literally, APPARENTLY) creating “cute” portmanteau words out of everything, and yeah the verbization of nouns are probably disgusting American phenomena. (Yes I am American and our country’s people as a whole are unbearable)

Just to get it off my chest, I also hate when people take an awkward pluralization and do this:

The Morrises (Morrii?) are way past their prime as basketball players.

No, it’s not cute. I really hate that. The calling attention to something you think might be clever (See what I did there?) is so tacky.

  • This thing is absolutely insane with just a heavily distorted guitar. Love it!!
