How have I never heard this performance before? Great stuff:

This is exceptional. Satriani and the trumpet playing off each other and the vocal. Good stuff.

Usually these all star jams are fun in the moment but not of lasting value. But they really captured some magic on this one.

YouTube keeps feeding me videos of gorgeous Persian women playing Persian classical.

She is one of the most beautiful women on the planet right now, and also a compelling setarist:

This next one is an incredible musician. Every video on her channel is fantastic:

    This instrument is a kemanche:

Good one. I got to hear him live in LA back in the 80s.

I was able to hear him in NYC in the late 70s. One of the best concerts I ever attended.

  • Had the new Danny Brown and Andre 3000 albums on repeat the last week. Also inspired me to relisten to the Outkast and Danny Brown discographies for the thousandth time lol. Love both of the new albums though. Quaranta may end up being my favorite of the year.

I want to do a cover of this instrumental. It was used for an action/escape sequence in the original Bubblegum Crisis. Great soundtrack for a great scene.

Ive had near religious experiences listening to his music lol. Super talented guy. And his score work is fantastic.

Haha … that tracks. I just learned recently that he did the soundtrack for “Uncut Gems,” which has been on my watchlist for a while now but that news certainly bumped it to the top …

New album is called “Again” and it’s fantastic

  • The best rockandroll song that I have heard in years.
Unhinged falsetto vocals, a great garage riff, a grooving bouncing bassline worthy of The Ramsey Lewis Trio, and a guitarplayer well-schooled in Johnny Thunders, James Williamson, and Steve Jones.
    I love this record!

Thanks :) he did the score for their movie right before that as well. Good Times is the name.

Gonna check this album out tomorrow. I’m super excited

  • Anyone listened to the new-ish band The Garden? They’re fantastic! Been a fan for years now but missed their most recent album and have been spinning it for the last 2 days.

I love this band, but they seem to have vanished. Very vintage sounding, with a Terry Riley-esque approach to composition. Reminds me of the band Birdsongs of the Mesozoic if anyone remembers them.

Thank you for sharing. This is excellent.

  • Cool! Glad you liked. They only have two albums out, and appear to be gone. Very rocking minimalism. I found a video, the keyboard players both had the same vintage looking keyboard, that I never recognized. I wish they were still putting out music!

Ah that’s a shame. Not necessarily the same but Floating Points have some great minimalist jams as well if you haven’t given them a spin.

    Like Adele? J.K.
I think of his voice almost like a caricature, he does a lot with what he’s got.
Maybe Bob Dylan should have hired a better singer too…

Yeah a lot of my favorite vocalists aren’t “good” singers. As long as there’s effort and emotion, that’s all that matters.
