Sounds like lyrics for a song
😂🤣
Sorry, Dendy. I've already deleted Buttersynth from my iPad Pro and requested a refund. Hopefully someone else can help debug this synth. If things are fixed at some point in the future I may repurchase.
That’s the spirit…
Feel free to beta test and submit bug reports on your own. That's not how I'm spending my time.
that is not problem, crashlog should be still there .. just go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data
Locate one of last “ButterSynthAU***” files (date/time of crash is part of filename)
tap on file, tap on right top share icon and send it to [email protected], thanks.
@dendy is a true ambassador for ButterSynth. Spending his free time for the goodwill of the product. Defending no issue popular apps is easy, defending high expectation synth with issues is bloody hard. I salute you for this. 🫡
For Logic on iPad which I do not have now (I'm pausing till it get updated), when adding Butter do not choose it at the first instant but instead choose an empty track, then via the + sign at the bottom, add Buttersynth. Here's an old video where I'm using 4 instances (beta) of it in Logic, to prove my point
.

Nah, just doing what i enjoy
When i see app which deserves my time, nothing can stop me
)
Thanks for the info regarding finding the crash log and sending it on. Crashlog from Drambo problems sent. Cheers.
Right there with ya my friend. BS is utterly fantastic.
I'm not huge on ButterSynth.. seems more for people that are, well tbh, "into synths".
The presets all suck so you're forced to create your own sounds from scratch - cool for some, not great for singer/songwriter types that just want to get in, find a cool sound that works for their idea and move in with life.
Is there anything on iOS closer to maybe Ujam's USynth?
Something with better and more musical presets, and a more simplistic interface.
For reference, my fav synths on PC are Usynth (I like all of them), Pigments, Twin 3, Diva and Vital.
I have plenty of others but those are the ones I gravitate towards.
I don't have time to learn how to create my own synth sounds from scratch and I'm not interested enough in it for that either.
I have Module Pro and find there's some great sounds in there, same with Alchemy in Logic Pro. Just after another choice. Didn't like Synthmaster or SynthOne (or w/e it's called) or Pure Synth Platinum either.
If you are a Twin 3 fan, you can get the iOS version.
You gone through all 5-600 presets in ButterSynth and can't find 1(one) acceptable? I make strange sounds (and like doing so) so I get why mine don't got your approval but e.g Jakob Haq and RedSky has some really beautiful stuff, imo. Richard Yot released a pad pack the other day (search the forum) which might be for you, but I doubt it. I got curious as I never heard Usynth (marketed as buttery btw 🤣 ) and I don't get what your after. But, I wish you. good luck
😊
If you open it from an empty track in Logic it works. There are not many beta testers left and Dendy the only one somewhat serious. I probably should jump ship as I don't have time
(Sorry!) He usually fix things pretty fast though, no excuse, but still...
I happen to think the presets were pretty great, personally. Would like to see more "regular" patches for people to be able to start with something conventional and then modify for their own taste. My problem was with the reliability of the AU loading consistently and retaining the patch settings in projects.
I don’t know squat about desktop synths, but when you say you’re looking for “more musical” presets it could help to define the genre(s) you’re creating in. A lot depends upon that. Are you lookings for GM sounds (bs-16i) or orchestral (iSymphonic) or more EDM sorta stuff (I would start with SynthMaster but you don’t seem to like that). The guys that created factory presets for Buttersynth tend to lean toward Hardstyle electronic or Experimental electronic, so they won’t come up with presets suitable for Pop music (in general - don’t flame me guys!). Give us an idea of what you’re looking for and the recommendations will be better.
A good deal on a rompler is iWavestation. Lots of sounds in there that are very musical. What instrument do you play? I don’t have so much info on the guitar-oriented apps, but if your a keyboardist, you’ll find a good number of romplers on iOS Appstore.
Glad to hear that. I'm convinced that the dev will sort it in the end, it's a real petty it's like this for some ppl. I have mainly used it for sound design in stand alone and it's usually very stable.
That is a good suggestion, very nice done and ready sounds.
I got that Tja, it was for the question within the parentheses.
I forgot Twin 3 was on iOS, thanks for reminding me.. I won't buy it individually, I plan on buying both Fabfilter bundles when I'm able to anyway for other fx.. so I'll save a little cash doing it that way (unless they become discounted after buying Twin 3?).
Yeah, I've gone through all the presets. I'm happy to go through them again though. No plans to refund it or anything, everyone raves about it so I'm sure it's more than capable of doing everything I want it to.
I'm just more of a presets guy most the time and don't have time to learn everything about creating my own synth sounds, ButterSynth looks and feels aimed more at people that are into that sort of thing.
With what I'm after.. it's not like USynth are the only synths I like - but they're really geared towards someone like me - primarily a singer/songwriter, more than a "producer" or whatever.. very easy to just jump in and find something that's close to what I might already hear in my head (I guess they cover "the basics", then), with some flexibility options readily available.. if you look up their MO, Ujam's whole schtick seems to be about making things that are kinda "for noobs" if that makes sense.
Depending on the situation, that's a great thing.
What I make - mostly synthwavey stuff, typically pop/rock leaning. Less "EDM" and more.. "an actual song", if that makes sense (apologies to anyone that might find that offensive).
Just general singer-songwriter stuff.. pretty simple music, some catchy-enough choruses, typically with vocals... funny you mention it, hardstyle electronic and experimental electronic are things that don't interest me in the slightest. Probably why I feel the presets are all pretty crappy.
I really like a lot of synthwave though, stuff like The Midnight, Timecop1983 etc etc.. even in songs that aren't synthwave or '80s sounding, I still like synths and sounds that would probably fit those types of songs anyway.
So I like nice soft pads, interesting leads (probably nothing too harsh/abrasive), plucks, bass that can actually be used in a song (there's so many bass sounds that are just 0/10 nonsense, half of them sound like you couldn't even use it as a bass because they're not even doing much in the low end, it's just crappy buzzy sounding bs)..
I play a lot of instruments - guitar included (would love some recs for guitar apps, especially geared towards live use), I play keys as well and already have a fair few but I hadn't heard of iWavestation and will look into it now.
Stuff that's geared towards live use is preferable for me.
Synthwave presets… I think that I would look to emulations of 70’s & 80’s synths and drum machines. There are a good number of them, but some that come to mind are Moog Model D, Syntronik, iDS-10, iMonoPoly, and who doesn’t love Sunrizer? There are iOS FM synths, which can be hard to program but KQ Dixie has a lot of presets. Greoshred is fun, and your guitar background will help there. I recommend listening to YouTube videos - usually someone will go through enough of the presets so you don’t have to buy everything first. And of course a big factor will be how you use apps: AUv3 only or does your workflow tolerate older IAA only apps? You’ll have to judge the appropriateness for “live use” because there are too many variables there.
this was 100% working before in some previous beta version.. it probably broke with some completely unrelated change at some point - it is impossible to retest all features again after every update
, so we always concentrate on testing features which may be relazed to any of updated/fixed things in any new update .. I guess this got fucked witf fix of something completely different - such things just happens in software developement and are hard to avoid..
If you can’t find good presets in Buttersynth or find the amazing presets in Synthmaster 2 (over 5000 presets), then it must be hard to live in this platform…
If everything is soooo much better on desktop, why are you then seeking stuff on iPad? Strange…
Awesome, I've checked a couple of these out and they seem cool, Sunrizer seems awesome. Not sure what it offers that I don't already have covered with other stuff but it still seems awesome. I have Gadget too.
I don't know enough about Auv3 or IAA to make a decision on that - for live use, it's mostly just reliability + quick accessability of sounds, ie maybe a favourites system or ways to quickly get to some standard sounds. I plan on using it for looping with - adding some beats, bass, pads, keys etc etc to my live act. Right now I'm a solo acoustic musician but the iPad opens up so much more to me than just being some dude on a guitar.
Not sure what the deal is with your attitude but anyway - I didn't realise Synthmaser and SynthOne were different apps when I wrote the post. On some level I must have, otherwise where did the names come from - but I thought it was one app that I couldn't quite remember the name of when I wrote it. I was referring to Synth One.
I purchased Synthmaster 2 a while back apparently, but I don't recall spending much time with it - I've just redownloaded it and will explore what it's got tonight.
With regards to everything being better on desktop - this isn't a perspective I hold.
I love using the iPad, can't wait to get a Macbook Pro or Air, so I can shift everything I'm doing to the Apple economy - I understand most of what I use (all?) is available on MacOS but not on iPad.. ie Arturia's Pigments, U-He's Diva.. etc.. these companies have other products I love as well, it's a shame they're not on iPad but I do plan on switching my PC out for a Macbook at some point (or a Mac Mini) and leaving the PC stuff behind.
It’s a pretty obvious reason why big & popular software company in music making is avoiding iPad…
The old tradition that everything on iPad will/would cost 1/10 of the price of the desktop equivalent, there we have the problem…
Gladly now is that the prices on iPad music apps have raised to a more “normal” price, although several software companies has hard to a break even situation…
Modartt and the release of Pianoteq v8 on iOS/iPadOS is a step in right direction - it cost 129 dollar and can be upgrades for yet another 258 dollar, and also cross platform license, good!
With Logic Pro for iPad and iPad Pros being crazy powerful, I think we'll see more big names getting their stuff on iPad, at higher prices than like 1/10th of the cost elsewhere.
Hope they get on board anyway.
I just picked up Baby Audio's BA-1 on iPad and feel like it's "problem solved" on the synth front. Love it.
Where can I send bug reports to devs?
